System in Assassin's Creed

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Sneaking Casually

Alaric finally arrived at Helena's house as he made his way to the Grand hall, sitting down at the couch.

'I should probably use Penn for business, maybe build a good connection with him.' He thought as he opened the System Interface.

Two bowls of Miso Ramen appeared on top of the coffee table from thin air as Alaric smirked at the sight.

'I will always appreciate having the system.' He thought as he could hear someone from upstairs going down.

It was Reuben.

"Umm... Alaric?" Reuben went towards Alaric as he saw two bowls of soups that seemed to have contents in them.

"I figured you wouldn't be able to sleep here," Alaric smiled, "Sit... the other one's for you."

"For me?" Reuben's eyebrows raised as he made his way and sat near Alaric. "I've been meaning to ask you..."

Alaric used the chopsticks and dug in first, not waiting for Reuben.

"..."

"..."

"Um... I heard you guys would be homeless after that man and woman leaves," Reuben finally talked, making Alaric stop slurping. "What're you gonna do?"

The youngest Kenway only smirked, "I did some work and finally got all of us some place to stay, don't worry... I won't let you go back to the slums."

"What do you mean?"

"You'll know." Alaric replied.

"By the way... I need you to do somethin'..."

---

After they ate, they talked for an hour. Reuben was seven years old, same as Thulani. So it was easy for Alaric to gain his trust, children are gullible.

Seeing as Reuben was sleeping on the couch, Alaric didn't even care to dispose the ramen cups and just walked up to the second floor and opened the Thulani's temporary quarters.

Nudging the former slave, Alaric woke him up.

As Thulani opened his eyes, he was met with Alaric's face with his index finger on his lips. Signifying that he had to be silent.

Thulani could only nod his head reluctantly.

Alaric motioned for Thulani to follow him, leading the downstairs.

Walking slowly, Alaric guided Thulani outside the house. The anbu sandals were a natural noise dampener and Thulani was barefoot.

"Okay... here's what's going on," Alaric neared Thulani and spoke silently, "Solomon and Helena are going to leave this house in the morning, Helena will sell the house. We can't stay after that."

Thulani nodded his head, albeit fear crossed his eyes.

Alaric could see this but he placed a hand on Thulani's shoulder to assure the former slave. "You have to follow me somewhere, we need to be agile."

Seeing Alaric's confidence, Thulani could only nod and follow the young Kenway. Alaric's body was smaller than his but there was something about this kid that made him want to follow.

Alaric then activated Foresight Pulse as he spotted the positions of people within eight kilometers.

'So that's where you're staying, Penn.' Alaric smirked as he motioned Thulani to follow him.

Thulani expected them to be sneaking and crouching, like how one would be when hiding. However, he was nervous as he and Alaric were casually walking.

Minutes passed and he was shocked as they've encountered no one.

Yes, it has passed midnight and people naturally slept during this time. But how about the guards? How is it that they've not encountered a single person?

Alaric saw how Thulani's face would get so confused from time to time as they kept walking, but of course... he could not tell anyone he was constantly pumping tiny bits chakra to send sensing pulses that mapped the entire eight kilometers he was in.

'Hmm... how do we do this,' Alaric hummed as he saw the mansion that William Penn and his son were in. There were lots of guards stationed in every corner. 'Did him being held captive leave a scar on his feelings?'

Shaking his head, Alaric smirked as he looked at Thulani, "Stay here."

Alaric didn't even need to see Thulani's response as he ran towards the nearest house and leaped towards the roof, landing silently, leaving Thulani surprised.

Humming once more, Alaric observed the guards that were stationed. 'I shouldn't kill too much, right?'

Thulani, who was looking at Alaric, widened his eyes as Alaric disappeared from his view. He rubbed his eyes and looked again, only to see nothing. 'What..'

'Nice,' Alaric landed on a dark corner and looked at the nearest stationed guard, 'I could knock that one out, then maybe I can help Thulani jump through the high wall. After that, we can head inside. However, there's thirty people in the mansion... probably maids and staff?'

Shaking his head, Alaric walked up to the guard, not bothering to hide.

"Huh?" The templar guard raised a brow as he neared Alaric, "A kid?"

'Genjutsu: Sharingan!' Alaric casted as his eyes turned blood red, three tomoes spinning rapidly, making the templar guard slump forward.

'It's too easy,' He thought as he immediately went towards the guard and loot some coin. Alaric then grabbed the guard by the armpit and made him lean on the mansion's high cemented fence, making it look like the guard's slacking off. 'As I said... too easy.'

'At least he has some change...'

Alaric then dashed towards where he left Thulani, only to see the former slave crouching with troubled face.

Grinning, Alaric approached Thulani from behind and placed a hand on his shoulder, making the former slave flinch. "Let's go."

Thulani's heart drop but went back to normal as soon as he saw Alaric's face. He nodded but his skin went cold due to the scare.

"You should know how to be aware of your surroundings, Thulani," Alaric smirked and walked towards where he knocked the guard out.

As soon as Thulani saw the knocked-out guard, he widened his eyes a little. He then looked at Alaric and immediately shrugged as if it made sense.

"You know how to climb?" Alaric asked as he looked Thulani who now stared at the very high wall. "Don't worry I'll give you a boost."

Thulani, who could see how high the wall is, reluctantly nodded but still had a doubt on his face. He then distanced himself from the wall while Alaric was on a leg-up position.

"Anytime now..."

Hearing Alaric's voice, Thulani's heart began to pound. Breathing in and out deeply, he calmed down and decided to just trust Alaric.

Alaric smirked as he applied chakra on his whole body.

'One... two...' Alaric grit his teeth as Thulani finally ran towards him and used his small hands to boost himself. Alaric didn't waste time and used the momentum to catapult Thulani upwards.

"Hupp!!"

Thulani could only widen his eyes at the impossibility of what he was doing. He immediately grabbed the vertical end of the wall and tried to lift himself up but to no avail.

'Shit,' Alaric cursed as he could Thulani struggling.

Not wasting time, Alaric ran up the wall using chakra on his feet and immediately balanced himself on top of the wall. "Gimme that hand."

This wasn't a request nor an order, Alaric just caught Thulani's hand and yanked his body upwards. "I'll need to train you soon, I don't care if you're seven."

Thulani couldn't even reply as he thought about how he almost fell.

"Hey."

Thulani looked up to Alaric as he saw the blonde pointing at a haystack under them.

"Uh... UGH" The former slave could only mutter as Alaric pushed him, making him fall towards it. "HUNGGHHH!"

'This Assassin's Creed universe, surely he won't die right?'
