Surprise! I've Transmigrated Again

Chapter 4: Chapter 004 ⤞ Sword Master

"Hello, we'd like to become adventurers."

"Alright, ξ3,000 received."

Returning to the counter, they handed over the money to the receptionist, who took it and passed back three paper documents.

"Please complete these forms, all three of you." She was truly a professional receptionist. Even after that embarrassing incident earlier, she didn't mock them and just carried out her work diligently.

"Height, weight, age, characteristics, all pretty standard items. Bet they don't have a box for 'killer dance moves' though." Adam muttered as he began to fill out his.

[Name: Adam Carter] [Height: 1,85m] [Weight: 80Kg] [Age: 19 Years] [Hair: Black] [Eyes: Gray] [Notable Characteristics: Sword-like piercing gaze and witty sense of humor]

Writing… x3

After carefully filling out the forms, the three returned them.

"Very well, received. Now, please listen to the detailed explanation..." The receptionist explained the important points for adventurers to the three of them, then took out some kind of card for them to touch, "Please touch this card. This will reveal your Ability Parameters {Stats} and allow you to choose a suitable Profession."

In the KonoSuba world, adventurer Professions are determined from the start. Being able to choose a one right away is really great.

Kazuma became a regular 「Adventurer」, Aqua shone brightly as a very rare 「High Priest」, and as for Adam...

He lightly touched the card, and a not-too-bright light flashed briefly before fading.

"Let me see." Adam held the card in his hand, "Hmm, not bad at all!"

The stats displayed on the card were quite impressive. Although he didn't know what the standard values were, his were twice as high as Kazuma's! It seemed he had great potential indeed.

"So high!" Sure enough, the receptionist was amazed when she saw it, "Except for Luck which is average, all your other attributes are at the highest level!"

It made sense; his stats were more than twice those of Kazuma, an ordinary young man, so they must far exceed those of others too.

'Hahaha! I'm like, super buff and mega hot!' Adam couldn't help but daydream about himself on a stage, with a bunch of mortals going nuts over his crazy-good stats.

Although he had a cheat ability to assist him, and he wouldn't end up too weak in the end anyway, who would refuse a high starting point?

A high starting point also means a high peak!

"Let's see, Crusader, Sword Master, High Priest, Arch Wizard, you can choose any of these!" The receptionist suggested, "I recommend you choose Sword Master, which has the strongest attack power, because your Strength and Stamina are particularly outstanding!"

"Sword Master? Sweet, sign me up for that!"

Unlike Kazuma who could only choose to be an 「Adventurer」, Adam could freely choose any Profession.

Of course, choosing 「Sword Master」 was not a bad choice either.

Swordsmanship is not inferior to any other profession, and in any world, there will always be those who earn the title of 『Sword Saint』. When the time comes, he could use his cheat-level ability of analysis and imitation to copy their techniques.

'If I, Adam Carter, had not been born, the way of the sword would be in eternal darkness!'

The appearance of another top-tier Profession made everyone cheer, and even Aqua was surprised, "How can a mere otaku have such high physical stats?"

"Yeah, is senpai really a shut-in?" Tears of envy formed at the corners of Kazuma's mouth.

Right then, it hit him like a ton of bricks - you can't judge a book by its cover. Some of these so-called nerds might look like they'd struggle to lift a manga, but underneath those baggy hoodies? Surprise, surprise - they're packing some serious muscle power that'd make gym bros green with envy.

"Didn't I tell you? Although I'm an otaku, I exercise regularly to maintain my health, so my physical abilities far exceed the average person's."

"Dude, are you one of those 'cool otaku' types?" Kazuma joked, "You know, the ones who say they're into anime but actually have a life outside their room? Man, us NEET's are the real losers here."

He looked quite dejected.

But there was no time to comfort him now, they had to make plans for tonight's food and lodging! Even staying in a stable costs money, you know!

"Time is important now, let's accept a quest and earn some bounty right away!" Kazuma, recovering from his disappointment, suggested they take on a quest. He had always longed for this kind of life, and was finally about to fulfill his wish.

"Hold up, man! We can't just dive into quests like that." Adam flatly refused.

"Why not?"

"Dude, we're basically running around in our birthday suits here. No gear, no go!"

The three of them were currently penniless, not even having enough money to buy the cheapest short sword. Did they expect to fight monsters bare-handed?

"Ah, if only I had asked for the ability of fantasy creation…" Adam slumped on the table, his face full of regret.

"Hey, I totally forgot to ask what ability you got from Aqua!" Kazuma just realized that unlike him, a useless guy, Adam was a true isekai protagonist with a cheat ability.

At the same time, he wondered if Adam's ability could help them out of their current situation.

"Oh, my cheat? It's called 〚Analyze and Copy〛. Pretty much does what it says on the tin - I can analyze out anything and then use it myself."

"Whoa! Which protagonist's skill is that?! It's way too powerful!"

As an otaku, Kazuma immediately understood the power of this ability. The more people he encounters, the more abilities he can learn, and he'll just keep getting stronger and stronger, with no limit!

"But unfortunately, it's of no help to us right now." Adam spread his hands helplessly, "I haven't analyzed or imitated any abilities yet."

"I see." Kazuma rubbed his chin, thought for a moment, and then asked, "Carter-senpai, can you analyze Aqua's skills and imitate them?"

His idea was simple: if Adam could mimic her abilities, their group would have two High Priests with divine powers. Better yet, with his impressive stats, he'd be like a souped-up version of Aqua — far more potent than the original!

"No, I can't." Adam denied his guess, saying, "I can't imitate Aqua's skills."

"Why not?"

"Satou-kun, have you heard of the dilemma of reasoning? It's a logical puzzle involving two hypothetical judgments and one disjunctive judgment with two options as premises. This forms the basis of hypothetical disjunctive reasoning. The conclusion can be either a categorical or disjunctive judgment. Since it often presents a dilemma, it's aptly named 'the dilemma of reasoning.'"

Unfortunately, this explanation flew right over Aqua's and Kazuma's heads. They stared at Adam, utterly bewildered.

Clearly, such complex logic was a bit much for a ditzy goddess and an average high school student.

"Let me break it down with a classic example: the paradox of an omnipotent God. Can God create a stone so heavy that even He can't lift it? If He can, then He's not all-powerful because He can't lift the stone. If He can't, then He's not all-powerful because He can't create such a stone. It's a catch-22."

"Whoa, hold up!" Kazuma's eyes lit up, "You could've just said that from the get-go, man!"

"Glad you're catching on." Adam said with a grin, "So yeah, to dodge that whole 'God vs. rock' mess, my fancy 〚Analyze and Copy〛 skill can't touch Aqua or any other big-shot deities. Basically, I'm not gonna be pulling any of her stunts anytime soon."

And this is one of the drawbacks of his〚Analyze and Copy〛!

Or rather, it's a limitation set by Aqua and other deities on Adam, with the purpose of preventing him from turning around and analyzing and imitating the deities themselves.

"Ah, I see." Kazuma looked disappointed, "Looks like our ace in the hole isn't so ace-y after all, huh?"

"Hey, easy there, champ," Adam grumbled, fighting the urge to give Kazuma a playful noogie, "You're not wrong, but ouch, my pride!"

"So, what's the game plan? We're not exactly monster-slaying material right now." Kazuma flopped dramatically onto the table, looking like a deflated balloon, "Any bright ideas floating around in that noggin of yours?"

Adam thought for a moment, then said:

"We have no choice but to find part-time jobs."
