Chapter 6: Chapter 5: The Mysterious Senior
The mysterious voice echoed and shook the earth. A loud roar echoed in the minds of the two elders of the Divine Owl Academy that dissipated their auras in an instant. They held their heads in pain. Their hearts trembled in fear, as if their instincts were warning them of the danger.
The two elders' souls were enclosed in a different space. Their real bodies were still in there, but they couldn't move. The people around them wondered whatever was happening to them.
Both of the elders can't believe that there is someone far stronger than the grandmaster, who is seeking refuge in this village. Metchzel just realized that there is indeed a master residing here without their knowledge and of the villagers.
"G-greetings, s-senior. If I had k-known that y-you're residing here, I should've paid my r-respect earlier." Metchzel greeted nervously as he bowed with reverence.
"G-greetings, s-senior," the 4th Elder said, trembling in fear.
"For so many years, you're the only Blues who's unreasonable." The mysterious voice was loud and clear, and every word it uttered carried a heavy pressure.
"What?! He knew I'm from the Blues Family?!" The 4th Elder thought in disbelief as he widened his eyes.
He felt a chill on his spine after realizing that this senior is capable of offending the Blues Family. This means the senior has the power to defend or even overpower the entire Blues Family. Metchzel gazed at the 4th Elder. He saw that the 4th Elder's expression can't be drawn. Metchzel was also shocked that the mysterious senior was able to recognize the 4th Elder's lineage.
"You made me move, so accept my punishment!"
The elders widened their eyes at what was about to unfold.
"Master!"
The onlookers were shocked after they saw that the 4th Elder vomited blood. His disciple assisted him while he coughed roughly as his soul got back.
"What?!"
"What happened to the 4th Elder?!"
"How can there be someone powerful here? His power is unfathomable, more powerful than the grandmaster. Why is he staying at a remote place?" Metchzel kept pondering to himself as soon as his soul also got back.
Metchzel realized that hidden masters are truly unpredictable. He just encountered one who chose this place over the Capital City. In the Capital City, he will be respected, served, feared, and adored by everyone.
"Ah-h, we will leave now, s-senior!" The 4th Elder said in panic and fear.
The mysterious senior said something to him, able to make him tremble in fear.Together with his recruits, the 4th Elder ran hastily and was assisted by his direct disciple. He left with internal injuries, weakened and exhausted.
Lestia worriedly ran towards Metchzel. Everything happened in the blink of an eye, and the people were filled with confusion and questions.
"Master, are you okay? What happened?" Lestia asked as she embraced her master.
"I'm fine. I'll tell you later," Metchzel replied.
Although Metchzel wasn't injured, he is now weakened due to the draining pressure of the mysterious voice and after his soul was forcibly taken away from his body, which will take time to recover.
"Descendant of the Pyro Family." Metchzel stopped and was surprised.
"Voice transmission. Truly a master, voice transmission can only be done after reaching the Transcendence. I'm only at the 8th stage of Body Recreation. I haven't been able to break through to the 9th stage for almost half a decade," he thought to himself.
"Act as if nothing happened; no ears must hear what happened here. Go back and nurture these children well," he said calmly, but it echoed in Metchzel's mind.
Metchzel looked at the five children; then he nodded as his response to the mysterious senior. He deduced that all of this happened because of Red, after nearly being attacked by the 4th Elder. Now, he is in deep thought about the relationship of Red and the mysterious senior.
As an elder of a prestigious academy and from a renowned family, Metchzel must remain composed. He acted as if nothing happened and encouraged everyone to continue the celebration for the five children's triumph.
Metchzel gathered the five children and walked towards Larnge. Red, Dumble, and Georgie were worried when Metchzel held the foot of Larnge—now swelling.
Metchzel realigned Larnge's ankle with precision and mastery. Larnge didn't even feel any pain, and he let it rest for a while.
A small feast was arranged by the village chief. Different delicacies from their harvest of different crops and some meat. Everyone joined, for such an event happens only once a year or with guests worthy of such celebration.
They all celebrated and enjoyed the night. However, Metchzel, Lestia, and the five children rested early, for they will set off at dawn.
The next day...
"Red, it's time to wake up," Shen said as he gently shook Red.
Red yawned and stretched his body.
"I've already prepared everything."
Shen got out of the room. He went to the kitchen and prepared Red's breakfast.
"You should eat before you go."
"Thanks, Grandpa!" Red said, full of energy.
After everything was ready, Red bid his farewell to his grandfather. Red embraced Shen. Though reluctant to leave his grandfather, he mustered his inner strength and forcibly stopped his tears. He needed to be courageous, for he will now embark on a new beginning with different kinds of people.
At the square, the five children are now complete with all of their belongings. They are all prepared and have already bid their farewells to their families.
The fifth elder, Metchzel Pyro, expressed his gratitude to the village chief for being hospitable—for accepting them warmly by hosting the trial.
They now started their journey to the Divine Owl Academy. As the children stepped out from the village, their hearts felt far away from home. However, the fifth elder noticed them.
"If any one of you is reluctant to part ways with them, then you can stay," the fifth elder said seriously as he glanced at them.
However, if you do so, you all have to remember that you will only fail their expectations, for you will waste the opportunity and talent dreamt by someone. You know, they all held their hopes for all of you," Metchzel said wisely.
They all realized the knowledge behind Metchzel's words, and they all agreed. They all mustered their strength to walk forward, holding to different reasons.
Red's eyes were filled with excitement as he was about to reach things he dreamed of. Eager to learn new things outside the village. The three, Larnge, Dumble, and Georgie, are all excited as well to see the world far from mountains. What would it look like? What kinds of people are out there?
On the other hand, a cold expression is still drawn on Zyph's face. However, her eyes can't hide the chaotic mixture of her emotions.
Although they all can't hide their nervousness, their inspirations are still overflowing. Their hearts are ablaze for different reasons worth fighting for.
After walking for a few minutes, they've reached the dense forest outside of the village's territory. Inside was not that dark and not that bright, a bit gloomy but surely creepy. Different noises were heard that scared the four young boys who just got out from the village. Zyph remained indifferent, as if she was already used to these kinds of noises.
"We have to reach the teleportation array before it gets dark. It'll be far more dangerous if we stay in this dense forest for too long," Metchzel said seriously while surveying the surroundings.
Metchzel, the fifth elder, is confused about the mystery of this land. It's confusing how the beasts can't go near the territory of the village. He then remembered the senior, maybe it's due to its terrifying presence that scares the beasts to go near there.
Although he can feel the presence of the beasts, these beasts were too knowledgeable to hide and be cautious during the day. He was sure that they will all appear at the right time, when his prey is at a disadvantage, and that is when the sun sets.
Although he can fight them, it's better to be cautious, especially since he is now with inexperienced children. Beasts are considered stronger than ordinary humans, for they were born with incredible strength and varying abilities. Their huge number will also be a big problem.
For Metchzel, coming to the village is an easy part. However, it will be tricky to go back at the academy having these children who don't know yet how to utilize movement techniques.
"This will be your pre-training! You have to catch up to me while we are running. The teleportation array is still too far." Metchzel calmly said and started to move swiftly.
Followed by Lestia and the newly recruited students. At times, Metchzel adjusted his pace for the children to catch up.
The teleportation array is placed 20 km away from the Motowo Village and the other two villages. The only fastest gateway to the Capital City, about 1000 miles from there.
As they ran as fast as they could, the young boys couldn't help but appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. Seeing different kinds of insects, from their sizes to colors and forms. Some of these insects were hideous and poisonous. Also, leaves of huge trees that lived for about a thousand years covered the whole forest—the sun's rays barely passed through. With their large roots all over the surface of the ground clinging to each other. Most of them were covered in mosses, giving a dark green shade.
Although there is a path leading to the teleportation array, nature reclaimed it. The path disappeared because it is rarely used, when the village sealed themselves off and gave up venturing far from the village.
Aside from wild grass, the path is covered by fallen branches and large trees, either due to natural causes or caused by something. Metchzel didn't even try to use his power to clear the path. Aside from not being able to fully recover due to the mysterious senior, casting a spell or making a loud noise could disturb the sleeping beasts.
Although there are some beasts that followed them, they are all low-ranked beasts grabbing the opportunity to hunt for food. There could be a higher-ranked beast sleeping near the path.
One hour had passed; they're now three kilometers away from the village. Dumble and Georgie were too tired to continue. Metchzel decided to let the children rest for a while.
They all stopped for a moment to catch their breath. Dumble and Georgie fell down on the ground, exhausted, and gasped for some air. On the other hand, Red stretched his body—still full of energy. As if he wasn't tired at all after running for hours.
Lestia looked at him with amazement, who was sitting on a log, and she noticed a shift in her expression as she gently smiled. Immediately, she composed herself so that no one would notice.
Larnge, who looked a bit tired, sat next to Lystia. He breathed deeply as he stretched his arms above his head.
At their current pace, they will arrive at the teleportation array in about 6 hours more. However, the more time passes, the more the children will get exhausted, and it will cause them to be delayed.
Metchzel thought that Red was truly different from—blessed with high aptitude and a strong foundation.
"Red's stamina already exceeds all of yours. However, do not be discouraged, for our Red here is gifted," Metchzel said, appreciating Red's potential.
"Aren't you tired, Red?" Dumble asked, catching his breath.
"Yeah! You're so cool," Georgie added as he gave a thumbs-up to Red.
"I'm really curious about what training you did back then," Larnge said as he walked towards the three of them.
"Mmm, I'm also curious," Metchzel thought to himself.
"I really don't know, haha! I just feel so alive!" Red said lively, then raised his hands as he said the last two words.
*Boom!!!*
As he raised his two hands, a loud explosion echoed in the forest. All of them were astonished; the children thought it was Red who made it.
"What the—?!" They were all shocked.
However, Metchzel looked in the direction of the explosion and found out it was just up ahead. They hurriedly moved forward, and then Metchzel found bloodstains trailing on the path.
"Wait! This aura!'' Metchzel shouted after he sensed a familiar aura. "All of you stay here! Lestia, you protect them!" He instructed, then moved swiftly, leaving burns on its trail.
"Yes, master!" Lestia replied worriely.
"Fifth Elder, what's happening?" Red asked worriedly, but Metchzel ignored him, for his attention was caught on the familiar aura.
The children were stupefied while Lestia was composing herself to protect her juniors as her master instructed.
Metchzel arrived where the explosion occurred and found the area was burning, fire all over the place.
In the smoke, a huge figure emerged with its dazzling eyes. Metchzel was stunned and was shocked to see a high-ranked beast. He also felt fear, not for himself but for the children.
The four-legged creature roared thunderously, which made the smoke dissipate instantly. Metchzel saw the sharp fangs of the beast, its head to his chest covered with long and thick golden fur that glows, its sharp claws imprinted on the stone, and aside from its dazzling eyes, its body surrounded with zapping electricity. To be precise, golden electricity.
"What the hell is this Zapphang doing here?!" Metchzel asked surprisingly.
According to the legend, Zapphang is a wolf-like creature, born from concentrated lightning. It is a place where the lightning energy is concentrated the most, resulting in the creation of a lifeform. A millennium passed, and it formed its own consciousness due to a continuous supply of lightning energy and later altered itself to its current body to manipulate the lightning energy efficiently. Zapphangs have an innate ability to protect their bodies with zapping electricity. Also, its fangs produce electric currents that paralyze anyone that will be bitten by it.
Metchzel noticed that the Zapphang is angrily staring at something at the bottom, ready to devour it. He then looked and was astonished at what he saw.
"Fourth Elder!" Metchzel shouted in shock.
He saw the fourth elder on the ground, exhausted and weakened but still enduring. The fourth elder's clothes were torn, the bluish robe is now covered with his blood, and blood is dripping from his mouth. The fourth elder looked at Metchzel, signaling him to go away.
*Roar!!!*
The Zapphang roared again and was about to devour the fourth elder.
"Nooo!" Metchzel shouted worriedly.
