Chapter 85: Tests and more Tests I
Kael observed the professors seated at the table, analyzing each of them with a keen gaze. It was impossible not to notice that each one exuded a different kind of power. The older man with white hair emanated an aura of pure discipline, as if his mere presence was enough to make anyone behave. He seemed to be a combat master or something related, probably someone whose strength was bolstered by a lifetime of experience. The woman with dark skin and braided hair appeared more focused, with a tranquil aura, but Kael could feel the precision and power in her energy. She likely had some kind of connection to nature or the occult, judging by the effortless way her energy spread. The youngest, on the other hand, appeared to be a mage. His blue eyes shone with an unshakable calm, but Kael noticed a gleam of confidence, as if he knew exactly what he was doing. These three masters were undoubtedly powerful figures who probably weren't easily impressed.
Kael remained silent, his posture relaxed and his mischievous smile never leaving his face. He didn't rush to take his place in line, allowing others to move ahead. He knew that this type of evaluation was a formality for him, an opportunity for others to stand out or fail. But even so, he couldn't help but wonder how these professors would view him. To them, he was an enigma, someone with a mana trait that didn't correspond to anything known. And that would likely make him even more interesting than his peers.
The young man with dark green hair, Leorak, was the first to be called. He approached the table with a calm expression, stopping before the professors. Kael observed his behavior, noticing how he seemed to be controlling his emotions, his posture solid and assured. The professors appeared more attentive to him than to the others, which made Kael raise an eyebrow. Leorak placed his hand on the table, where a sphere similar to the one from the entrance test had been placed.
The dark-skinned woman was the first to move. She looked at the sphere with attention before raising her eyes to the young man. "Leorak Tindrel," she said, her voice soft but full of authority. "Tell us a little about your abilities."
Leorak looked at her calmly, not in a hurry to answer. "I am a mage specialized in illusion and mental manipulation. My mana is focused on deceiving the senses and controlling perception." He paused, as if contemplating his words. "I also have some skill in combat, but I prefer to avoid direct confrontations."
Kael observed Leorak more closely. His energy was well controlled, but Kael could feel the intensity of his mana. He had no doubt that Leorak was a formidable opponent, especially in the field of illusions. He didn't see it as a direct threat, but he knew it would be interesting to see how that young man's mind worked.
'He's lying... his hands...' Kael thought, looking at the boy's hands... 'Calluses... he's trained with swords for much longer than most here...' Kael thought.
The older professor with white hair, who had remained silent until then, looked at Leorak with a serious expression. "Mental manipulation... You have skill, but we need to test it in combat. The mind can be an ally, but it can also be a weakness."
Leorak didn't seem bothered by the criticism. He merely nodded, not losing his composure. "I understand."
The dark-skinned woman made a gesture with her hand, signaling that he could step back. Leorak took a step back and moved to the end of the line. Now, it was the turn of a woman with silver hair, exuding such an imposing aura that Kael could barely tear his eyes away from her. Her presence was almost overwhelming in its seriousness. She walked up to the table with long, elegant steps, and Kael noticed that the way she moved indicated latent strength, something dangerous hidden beneath her calm demeanor. He felt her power immediately, as if she were a storm ready to unleash.
She stopped before the table and, without saying a word, simply touched the sphere. The sphere's glow intensified for a moment, but there was no agitation like what had happened with Kael. Instead, the sphere glowed steadily, as if satisfied with the woman's mana pattern. Kael observed closely. That woman had perfect control over her mana, something he could only admire. There was nothing unusual about her magic, but the way she managed her energy made it clear that she was an expert in her field. Perhaps in combat or some other form of refined magic.
The dark-skinned woman, who seemed to be the calmest of all the masters, looked at the silver-haired woman with a slight smile. "You are strong, Amelia Valroth. Your mana is flawless, without imperfections. Your specialization is... of course, the manipulation of pure energy."
Amelia gave a slight nod, as if acknowledging the assessment. "Yes. My focus is on elemental manipulation, but always with absolute control. Energy must not be wasted.""And what more can you offer me?" The older professor asked, his voice deep.Amelia looked at him, her eyes seeming to gleam with a subtle challenge. "I am capable of channeling mana in a way that allows me to absorb and release energy efficiently. My greatest strength is the ability to maintain absolute control of the fight, even against multiple enemies.""Interesting," said the man with white hair, studying her carefully. "We'll see what you're capable of. This will be put to the test soon."
With a subtle movement, Amelia pushed away from the table and joined the others in line, not looking back. Kael studied the woman for a moment longer. She seemed like a refined warrior, perhaps a strategist. But he wasn't really interested in her. His focus was on something bigger. Something he couldn't yet fully understand. But it would surely amuse him.
'This woman is really interesting... I hope to get to know her better soon...' Kael thought
