Chapter 123: Simple Fire Dragon
Kael stood up, his body already in motion before Eva finished speaking. He made no effort to look at the other students, who were quickly retreating, but his eyes were fixed on the Magma Dragon in front of him.
The creature roared, its mouth open, revealing rows of flaming teeth. The heat radiating from it was so intense that even the bravest of the students felt the pressure. The dragon's scales gleamed like molten lava, and its incandescent eyes locked onto Kael, watching him with primal fury. There was no doubt the beast wanted to see him reduced to ashes.
The atmosphere in the arena was oppressive. Normally filled with the sounds of battle and the shouts of students, the arena was now in complete silence, all eyes on Kael. The spectators' hands were sweaty, their eyes wide with anticipation. They all knew they would face a terrible monster, but no one expected Kael to be so… cold. He seemed calmer than ever, as if he were taking a leisurely walk in the fields while the Magma Dragon roared angrily before him.
Kael didn't rush. Instead, he took a step forward, his feet crushing the stone floor with precision. With each step, he seemed more at ease, as if mentally preparing himself, analyzing the situation. He didn't look directly at the creature, but kept it in his peripheral vision, feeling the heat of its presence. The dragon growled and charged, its enormous paws striking the ground with force, sending a wave of heat distorting the air around them.
"I thought I could intimidate you with my aura, but it seems I can't," Kael murmured, his voice low and calm, almost disinterested.
The dragon didn't respond, but its attack was immediate. It spread its massive wings and flew up, letting out a roar that made the entire arena tremble. The flames shooting from its mouth seemed to liquefy the air as it advanced, and Kael, seeing the wave of fire approaching, didn't hesitate. He simply leaned back, allowing the dragon to pass over him, its claws coming dangerously close, but Kael was moving too fast.
He rolled to the side, his movements graceful and quick like a feline. When he stood up, he was already in position again, his eyes fixed on the dragon. He wasn't scared, nor was he even worried. There was a chilling calmness to his stance. The creature tried again, its claws extending like sharp blades, but Kael dodged once more, his agility astonishing to anyone watching.
The students watched in shock. Some were whispering to each other, others had their hands over their mouths, stunned by Kael's speed and precision. No one had ever expected to see a fight like this. It seemed as if he was dancing with the creature, his presence almost like a shadow, slipping around the beast with uncommon dexterity.
"What's he doing?" one of the students whispered, incredulous. "He isn't even using magic. How is he moving like that?"
"This is… This is insane!" another commented, his eyes fixed on Kael.
Eva, meanwhile, observed everything with an unflappable calmness. She knew Kael was good, but watching him face the Magma Dragon this way was beyond her expectations. Her expression was enigmatic, as if she already knew how this battle would end, but at the same time, she was absorbed in every movement he made. She could see that Kael wasn't just fighting the dragon. He was challenging the very idea of how things were supposed to be done.
Kael then took a step forward. He stopped dodging and, contrary to what everyone expected, prepared to face the creature head-on. He extended his hand, and the air around him seemed to bend to his will. A field of glowing energy formed around him, like an aura of pure strength, creating an invisible barrier against the intense heat radiating from the dragon. He used the air to create a protective field.
The dragon, furious at Kael's lack of respect, charged again, its claws ready to tear him apart. But Kael, with astonishing speed, leaped into the air, propelled by a beam of energy that exploded beneath his feet. He seemed to float for a moment, the dragon rushing toward the empty space where he had been. Kael's movement was so perfect that the creature didn't even have time to react before he descended back, already in position.
The dragon tried to turn and face him, but Kael was faster. He shot toward the ground, his hands curving to touch the stone, and a wave of energy spread from the point of contact. The ground trembled beneath his feet as an explosion of pure magic erupted, sending a wave of force that made the dragon stagger backward.
The creature's scales shimmered in the light of the blow, but to everyone's surprise, they didn't break. The beast seemed even more enraged.
"You're starting to understand, aren't you?" Kael murmured to himself, his eyes fixed on the creature. He knew what he had to do. It wouldn't be easy. But this fight wasn't just about strength. It was about knowing when to attack and when to retreat.
The dragon let out an even louder roar, its wings beating with such force that the wind generated almost made Kael lose his balance. But he didn't yield. With pure precision, he leapt to the left, narrowly avoiding the flaming claw that passed just where he had been a second earlier.
"Now!" Kael shouted, his voice sounding more like a command than a mere battle cry.
He charged toward the center of the arena, his hands glowing with a green energy in swirling vortices that disturbed the air around him. With a fluid motion, he formed a beam of energy in his hand, a blade of his innate magic. But it wasn't just any blade. It was a concentrated storm, power that seemed more like a sharp blade than raw magic.
The dragon saw the attack coming, but it was already too tired to react quickly. Kael channeled all his energy into the blade, and when he unleashed it, the impact was devastating. The wave of magic cut through the air with lethal precision, striking the dragon directly in the chest. The blow made the creature roar in agony, its scales shattering under the force of the impact.
The entire arena fell silent for a moment. All the students were watching with wide eyes. No one dared to breathe. Eva, who had been silent until then, now had a satisfied smile on her lips, as though she were witnessing a painting unfold perfectly.
Kael didn't let the beast rest for long. He moved forward again, leaping back into the attack, his body perfectly in sync with the battlefield. He didn't care about the pain the dragon could cause. He didn't care about the risks. He knew exactly what he needed to do to finish this.
With a yell, he surged forward, the energy in his arms glowing even more intensely. In a final display of skill, he plunged directly into the dragon's chest, his hands now enveloped in a burst of green energy that shot through the creature's body.
The Magma Dragon let out one last roar of fury and pain before collapsing heavily to the ground, its wings flapping uncontrollably as its eyes slowly dimmed. The arena filled with a resounding sound as the creature finally fell, defeated. Kael stood over the monster, his expression unyielding and calm, as if he had just defeated a simple threat.
Eva applauded slowly, the sound of her hands echoing throughout the arena. "Impressive," she murmured. "You really don't miss a beat, Kael."
The students were in shock, unable to comprehend what they had just witnessed. Some were still speechless, others whispering among themselves, discussing what they had just seen.

'15 Strength, 5 Agility and 30 Endurance...' Kael thought as he read his status tab... 'Even so, I feel like I haven't gotten any stronger... what the fuck...'
He was tired of it... basically coming to school was pointless, he didn't learn anything, he didn't achieve anything, he didn't evolve at all... It was frustrating.
It was easier to just be an adventurer killing and hunting magical beasts to absorb their souls than to stay at this boring school...
'Ah... let's put up with it for a while... mom would kill me if I came home like this...' He thought and turned around.
"Okay, class is over!" Eva announced.
