Chapter 635: VOM’s Death

Vom had greatly underestimated Nox—and he had paid terribly. Two-thirds of his demon troops had been obliterated when the human used that strange dark blast

At first, he thought the human would eventually get tired, but as time passed, he noticed that the dark blasts were unending, and more of his kin died.

Vom had no choice but to go against his own words and interfere in the fight before he lost more of his troops.

As of this moment, the two faced each other. One, a small figure a little over two meters, and the other appeared like an ant.

Vom's chest rose and fell, his axe-wielding arm trembling as he struggled to contain the anger rising in his chest. Those demonic red eyes glowed intensely, and waves of killing intent surged out of his body, slamming into the human.

"Y-You… what are you?" Vom's eyes darkened even further. He couldn't understand the sheer audacity of the human to command him.

'What, why are you stuttering?' asked Nox in a provocative manner as he tilted his head to the side.

"Human!" the demon seethed with rage as he took a single step forward, and the heavily damaged bridge trembled underneath his feet.

"'So you want to do it the hard way, huh?" Nox said as his grip on Glacier's End tightened. "Well, I don't mind beating the answers out of your mouth."

BOOM!

Nox stomped the ground, and his body shot forward. Vom quickly moved from his spot as well, his expression twisted into a deep sneer as he violently swung his axe.

The giant axe, burning with intense flame that caused the air to distort, flashed toward Nox's chest with the intention of cleaving him apart.

But…

CLANG!

Glacier's End, encased in frost, slammed into the burning axe. Vom felt an unstoppable force tremble throughout his body, and his knee buckled slightly.

A brief look of fear flashed through his eyes when he realized something—

The human was strong

Only one clash was needed for danger sense to flare up, but he wasn't the type to run from a fight without giving it his all.

"AGHHHHHHH!" Vom roared. His voice echoed throughout the city as thick black flames engulfed his body.

"I made the mistake of underestimating you the first time, but I won't make that mistake again! This is your end, human!

"At this point, I can't even count how many times I've heard that," Nox muttered, taking a fighting stance and tightening his grip on his sword.

BOOM!

Two shadows clashed violently in the middle of the half-destroyed bridge—one blue, and the other black. They didn't care if the bridge was about to fall apart. Each combatant was focused on destroying the other.

Ironically, both Nox and the demon had the same fighting style: brute and unrefined. No flashy movements—just the intent to kill the opponent as fast as possible.

The demon's face darkened further with each passing second due to his opponent's lightning-fast strikes. Vom was forced onto the defensive.

'Fast… he's so fast.' Vom's eyes widened. His breathing became ragged as he struggled to keep up.

Finally, he made an oversight, leaving his body open.

Nox lunged forward and slashed the demon's arm—cleanly cutting it off as purple blood shot out like a fountain.

Vom stumbled back, feeling the intense pain radiating from his arm.

Glacier's End flashed again, and his other arm was severed off.

The demon general activated a movement skill as he charged forward, eyes burning with a mixture of rage and determination.

A subtle gleam of acknowledgment flashed through Nox's eyes as he muttered under his breath.

"At least you're resilient," he said as he sidestepped to his right, easily avoiding Vom's giant body.

"I missed him!" the demon clenched his teeth as he regained his footing, spinning on his heel. However, before he could fully turn back, a deep black gash appeared on his stomach.

Then another in his chest.

With his arms gone, Vom was left vulnerable. As such, it was easy for his opponent to inflict attack after attack on him, bringing him to his knees—a puddle of blood beneath him.

"ROOOOOOAR!" Vom's guttural cry was his final resistance. His once-proud frame collapsed onto the fractured stone bridge, blood cascading like a waterfall from the savage wounds carved into his body.

His knees hit the ground with a resounding THUD, shaking the already fragile bridge.

The war axe of Vom—once feared across the demon legions—lay useless on the ground, its hilt still smoldering. Without arms, Vom could no longer lift it. Without pride, he could no longer command.

And yet, Nox's gaze didn't waver.

He slowly stepped forward, placing the edge of Glacier's End against the demon's neck.

"Last chance," Nox said calmly, his voice like a judge passing sentence. "Tell me. What happened to the Vermilion Capital? Where are the survivors?"

Vom, shaking from blood loss and pain, raised his head weakly. His horns were cracked. One of his eyes had been burned shut.

Yet even then, even in that pitiful state, the corner of his lips curled upward into a mocking sneer.

"Kill me," he whispered. "I'll… never tell… you anything."

Nox didn't blink.

"Fine."

SHINK.

Glacier's End pierced straight through the demon's skull, exiting through the back of his head. Vom's eyes rolled back.

His body froze in place—ice spreading from the wound—and shattered like glass a moment later.

Chunks of his demonic corpse fell into the river below the bridge, disintegrating into ash before they even touched the water. Nox exhaled softly, watching the message fade.

He took a few steps back from the edge of the bridge, lifting his hand as golden sparks flickered along his fingers.

"Divine Velocity."

ZOOOOOM!

Like a bullet, he vanished from the spot, reappearing in front of the shattered wall of the academy.

Without hesitating, he surged forward and punched with all his might—

BOOOOOOM!!!

The already fractured stone exploded outward as his fist connected, debris flying in every direction as a massive section of the academy wall collapsed, attracting the attention of all the demons present inside the academy.
