SuperStar!

Chapter 62: Live performance I

Maya couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the notification on her phone. Ethan Jones, her favorite artist, was performing in Los Angeles for his first live show. Even better, a limited number of tickets were being sold for just $20 as a special promotion for fans. Her heart raced as she read the details.

"Guys, we need to get these tickets," she said, her voice urgent as she texted her group chat. The chat, aptly named "Ethan's Superfans," was where she and her three best friends—Leila, Vanessa, and Kim—discussed everything Ethan-related.

Leila was the first to respond. "$20 tickets? That's insane. They're going to sell out in seconds!"

Vanessa chimed in. "We'll have to be quick. I'll set an alarm for when they go live."

Kim added, "I'm logging into the ticket site now. Let's do this!"

The day of the ticket release, Maya sat at her desk, her hands hovering over her keyboard. The website's countdown timer ticked down from 10 seconds. Her heart thudded in her chest as the numbers hit zero.

"Go, go, go!" she yelled into their group voice call.

Her fingers flew across the keys as she clicked through the prompts. Select the number of tickets. Confirm your details. Enter your payment information. But as fast as she was, so were thousands of other fans. By the time she reached the final step, an error message popped up.

"Tickets are sold out," it read.

"No!" Maya groaned. "I was so close."

Leila let out a frustrated sigh. "Same here. It's like they vanished in seconds."

Kim was quiet for a moment before speaking. "Guys, I got through. I got four tickets!"

The call erupted in cheers.

"Kim, you're a lifesaver," Vanessa said. "I can't believe you did it!"

Kim laughed. "It's all about staying calm under pressure. We're going to see Ethan!"

The weeks leading up to the concert were a whirlwind of excitement. The four friends planned their outfits, memorized the setlist, and even made a sign that read, "Ethan, You're One of a Kind!" They arrived at the Wiltern Theatre hours before the doors opened, determined to snag a spot up front.

"It's not just a concert," Maya said as they stood in line. "It's history. We're going to be part of his first-ever live audience."

The line outside the venue snaked around the block, filled with fans wearing Ethan-themed shirts and clutching handmade signs. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. Despite the long wait, Maya and her friends managed to stay near the front of the line, their excitement outweighing the discomfort of standing for hours.

When the doors finally opened, the crowd surged forward. Maya's heart pounded as she and her friends handed over their tickets and stepped into the venue. The Wiltern's interior was breathtaking, its ornate ceiling and warm lighting creating an almost magical atmosphere. They rushed toward the stage, securing a spot right at the front.

"We did it!" Maya exclaimed, gripping the edge of the stage. "This is perfect."

As the crowd filled in behind them, the energy in the room grew palpable. Fans chattered excitedly, sharing their favorite Ethan songs and guessing what his opening number might be. Maya felt a surge of pride knowing she was surrounded by people who loved Ethan as much as she did.

The house lights flickered, drawing a collective gasp from the crowd. Maya's grip on the stage tightened as the lights dimmed, plunging the room into darkness. The audience erupted into cheers, the sound echoing off the walls.

Maya's heart raced. This was it. Ethan Jones was about to take the stage, and she was right there, close enough to feel the rush of his presence. Everything had led to this moment, and she knew it would be a night she'd never forget.
