Chapter 707: Chapter 701: The Realness of the Virtual Network!

At Finn Lewis’s words, everyone immediately bit themselves again, but this time everyone grimaced and gasped in pain, evidently hurt by their own bites.

“Do you understand now?” Finn Lewis asked with a smile.

“We understand!” Everyone responded loudly.

“Good! Perhaps you still aren’t sure why you are here, so let me tell you, I’m here to lead you in a game,” Finn Lewis said, still smiling.

A game? Everyone was taken aback, but none commented. Finn Lewis continued, “The game is simple, it’s a war game similar to ‘Call of Duty’. You will be participating in it! Here, let me emphasize a few points.”

Finn Lewis’s face turned serious. Sensing the change in atmosphere, everyone’s expressions instantly turned grave, “First, after leaving this room, what you’ll experience will be no different from reality, except that you will not die. However, I can tell you bluntly, a war game is still war, and although we call it a game, it is no different from actual warfare! You can get hurt, get shot, what is most important is, you will experience the sensation of death! The real sensation of death!”

At Finn Lewis’s solemn words, everyone in the room became serious. The fear of death is universal, and the realism here made them all realize that experiencing death or injury here was in no way an enjoyable experience.

“Enough chatter. Now, let’s proceed to the game!” Finn Lewis laughed softly, then waved his hand to gesture. As his voice fell, the soldiers noticed a door opening by their side. Finn Lewis immediately lead the way through the door.

Once they exited, these soldiers found themselves in a massive supply warehouse. Finn Lewis immediately told them to gear up.

At this point, a stern female voice played in everyone’s earpiece: “All listen, your company’s code name is Wolf Fang! And each of your code names will be your actual rank. From now on, you are a special forces unit, carrying out various missions. Your first mission: destroy the Luo army’s communication tower.”

After the female voice’s alert, Finn Lewis handed a palm-sized device, similar to a mobile phone, to the captain, then said: “Now, this is your reality. This device contains our mission brief, and the big screen will present the environment and intelligence for this mission. Prepare your gear according to the displayed environment. I will be an ordinary soldier here, and command is now up to you.”

Upon Finn Lewis’s words, the big screen illuminated, displaying the harsh Siberian environment, with a heavy snowstorm in progress. Everyone was taken aback. But being handpicked elites, they quickly recovered. After going through the intelligence, the captain along with a few lieutenants and squad leaders immediately began planning.

The difficulty of this game was controlled by Luna Starfield. Though these were the top troops from various divisions, in this first match, Finn Lewis was bound to give them an unforgettable lesson!

Over an hour had passed before everyone finished devising their strategy. “We will depart now,” Finn Lewis pointed towards the large door and said. The captain immediately waved his hand, and everyone wearing white cotton coats pushed open the door. As the door opened, countless snowflakes blew in, accompanied by a freezing wind.

Everybody couldn’t help but shiver. After they all jumped through the door, they instinctively looked back, only to find their immediate surroundings transformed into a primeval jungle. There was nothing else.

“Alright, everyone listen up, from now on, unless we all die or complete this mission, we won’t be able to return to the place we just left. We are now entering a state of war, understand?” Finn Lewis spoke in a hushed voice.

“Understood!” Everyone immediately responded in hushed voices.

“Now, carry out the plan,” the captain ordered immediately.

Everyone immediately took out their maps and prepared to disperse. Just then, a sudden “bang” echoed through the air. A soldier’s head in the formation exploded violently into a cloud of snow. A blend of brain matter and blood burst forth instantly. Everyone froze! Only the veteran soldier, who was the actual special forces captain, reacted. He yelled in terror, “Get down! Sniper!”

More than an hour later, Finn Lewis’s team was wiped out. To teach these soldiers an unforgettable lesson, Luna Starfield raised the difficulty level of this scenario. If they stayed in one location for over three minutes, they’d be discovered by a sniper. Also, if they were discovered by a sniper, within ten minutes most of the Luo army would surround them.

Though the blizzard prevented helicopter deployment, there was armoured support, heavy weaponry, and over a battalion of elite soldiers encircling them. Coupled with various advanced detection equipment, their wipe out was inevitable. “How are their mental and emotional states?” Right after the wipeout, Finn Lewis immediately asked.

“Most of them are in a somewhat dazed state, it is likely that they are still not fully recovered. The hyper-realistic environment tends to make them believe it’s real. The brutal battlefield conditions, if not for us cutting off the brain’s influence on their bodies in reality, their bodies would probably display symptoms like vomiting, convulsions, etc. in reality,” Luna Starfield immediately reported.

“Will there be any physical problems?” Finn Lewis enquired again.

“No, although experiencing the sensation of death in such a realistic battlefield is no different from reality, it’s not actual brain death. So, for a short period of time, they won’t have any issues. I am constantly monitoring their mental states, should any issue arise, I will inform you,” Luna Starfield immediately replied.

“Hmm,” Finn Lewis nodded.

Following a brief exchange with Luna Starfield, Finn Lewis appeared in a room. Over a hundred people were in this room of various sorts. The majority were in a dazed state, sitting quietly, while a small portion were violently retching in the wash basin on the other side of the room. This group were typically the last ones to die.

They had witnessed the gruesome deaths of their comrades; their heads blown off, shot to death by a volley of bullets, killed by grenades, decapitated by shrapnel. Luna Starfield had given them a variety of gruesome death scenarios to experience all kinds of horrific ways to die. This was the reality of war!
