Super God-Level Top Student

Chapter 400: What do they take us for?

In theory, Satya Nadella is merely a successful businessman. And for an ordinary businessman, it is actually quite difficult to be involved with Arlington.

The good news is that Microsoft's strength is evident, and coincidentally, Microsoft has many collaborations with Arlington.

For example, the billion-dollar cloud services contract from a few years ago, known as the famous JEDI project.

As everyone knows, getting contracts from Arlington is usually not that simple. After all, Microsoft had to compete with extremely strong internet companies like Google, Amazon, etc.

So Satya Nadella truly has channels to connect with Arlington. It's just a matter of time. However, the other side is quite understanding too.

"Let's pause our discussions for today. We'll continue once you have some information from Arlington and I am convinced I have the clout to remove all barriers in our cooperation."

Satya Nadella replied, unfortunately, there was no response from the other side.

If it were artificial intelligence, going offline would be impossible, so did it just become too lazy to bother with him beforehand?

With these thoughts in mind, Satya Nadella hesitated while looking at the video link. He had some guesses, but if they were true...

Sitting at his desk hesitating for a long time, he finally picked up the phone: "Notify Philip Goodhue that I need to speak with him within five minutes."

"Okay, Mr. Nadella."

...

In an office inside a landmark building in Arlington County, Virginia, USA, Walker Adams was enthusiastically playing a new game in front of his computer.

This official working at the Defense Commissary Agency exemplifies the phrase "small position, great power." After all, the agency needs to procure many items every year, and although Walker Adams cannot decide who to procure from, he indeed has the qualification to advise against procuring from certain parties.

Thus, he interacts with business elites. Holding such a position is largely related to his surname, Adams, as he has many relatives scattered across various upper echelons of society.

Even if they don't communicate much usually, when needed, with the advantage of blood relationships, a simple greeting can create substantial energy. This is perhaps the power of family, which, though unobtrusive, can make life quite good for many through its subtle influence.

Today, it so happens that Walker Adams was in a good mood, having just approved a batch of proposals and customized a series of impeccably contracted living supplies.

Everyone knows that when customization is involved, the price of goods becomes more flexible. As these are used within the building, adhering to secrecy principles requires ensuring no potential listening devices appear in any compartments, thus making the purchase of these handcrafted products reasonable, legal, and compliant.

This also means another sum of money will be credited at the end of the month; making money is just that simple and tedious.

For so many years, numerous rules and regulations have been listed there, all to allow everyone to make life a little better within the rules' allowance. Most importantly, no one loses in this process, and everyone gains.

One could only say that the law of conservation of matter seems to fail here.

The sudden ringing of the phone made Walker Adams glance at the phone on the table, the caller ID making him pause his actions.

Philip Goodhue, Microsoft's Vice President of Global Business, someone he had interacted with, but not much.

Honestly speaking, he was a bit puzzled as to why this person would call him. He hadn't heard of any new policies affecting network systems recently. Even if there were, it shouldn't have reached him first.

After all, being a multinational giant, a world-renowned tech company, he could easily access higher-level executives in this building based on his status.

But, on the other hand, his rank isn't actually low, being a de facto Deputy Director within the building.

"Hello, Mr. Goodhue, to be honest, I'm a little surprised to receive your call."

"No need to be so formal, Walker, just call me Philip. The weather's nice today."

Walker Adams subconsciously glanced out the window; in reality, the weather wasn't good, being overcast, but he agreed, saying: "It is quite nice, so is there something you need?"

"Yes, indeed, there is something. Mr. Nadella just forwarded me a series of videos, we're not clear about their origin. We felt something was off upon watching them, so we'd like you to help us check how these videos were filmed."

"Oh? No problem, send me the videos."

"I've already sent the address to your private email, thank you, Walker."

"It's nothing. I'll look at them and get in touch with you."

After hanging up, Walker Adams exited the game and, with curiosity, opened his email.

Videos that would prompt a senior executive from Microsoft to call him probably had distinguishing features.

Not to mention, this matter involved Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella, who has been at the helm of Microsoft for over ten years.

Being able to control a world-class high-tech company for over a decade, the connections and resources accumulated are usually daunting. Moreover, when he took over the company, its founder Bill Gates retired from the position of chairman, effectively concentrating power in his hands.
