Chapter 10: Chapter 8: I'm Your Wife
Kendis' POV
"Good morning, Mrs. Brown."
I smiled at Halen and proceeded towards the breakfast table. She is a great cook, and I was starving. It's not easy, you see, staying up late at night to think about unnecessary stuff like your idiotic husband.
That's takes up your entire energy. So, here I was ready to gain as much energy as I can.
"Good morning, Mr. Brown."
My back went stiff for a second knowing Liam just entered the dining room as well.
"Hmph! My head is hurting."
I scoffed inwardly hearing Liam's scruffy voice, while listening on to his approaching footsteps. God knows how many faces I would have made in those two minutes. He carelessly slumped into one of the chairs and rubbed his head.
My eyes unintentionally went over him and was surprised to see the 'always-composed-and-dressed' billionaire looking messily… hot? Even after a hangover. His hair was all over the place and shirt was barely buttoned as he kept grumbling under his breath.
"Why is the light so bright?" he complained yet again and slammed his head on the table before going silent for a minute.
I shook my head and paused the process of filling my plate before standing up and drawing the curtains in.
"Halen, let me help you." I spoke and noticed Liam turn his head around to check what I was doing.
"You needn't do a thing! Ask others." He added and I inhaled sharply.
This guy… even in this state he has the energy to argue.
Ignoring him, I started to prepare a strong lemonade drink for him. Meanwhile, I asked the others to serve food for Liam.
"Ask her to sit at the table first." Liam demanded childishly which would have sounded cute if we were actual lovers.
As for now, he sounded spoilt.
I huffed and stomped my way back to him, offering him the huge glass of lemonade drink. His eyes went wide but then again, I was on an agenda today—Ignoring Mr. Stupid Brown.
"Y-You…"
Liam was shocked, and slightly speechless, but I knew what he was about to say next. So, I just waved my fork (which I picked to eat) in the air and gestured 'Leave it'.
Finally, I can eat in peace…
Or so I thought.
The next thing just worsened my day.
"Hope you liked the food, Mrs. and Mr. Brown." My eyes went wide hearing a familiar voice but with contempt.
I looked to my side and was stunned to see the same girl from last night, looking all beaten up, wearing a maid's uniform with fat tears in her eyes.
This was ridiculous!
From her face it appeared that this thing has tempered with her lifestyle, her ego and her self-esteem. The fact that she wasn't in wrong irked me.
"What the hell is this about?" I snapped at Liam who hissed, grabbing his head.
He threw daggers from his eyes in my direction and not going to lie, but it was scary. That doesn't mean he can shut me up like that.
"Can't you see? Are you blind or what?" He questioned.
Anyway, I wasn't expecting any logical response from him. I mean it is kind of logical but… ah! Let it be.
Hearing this the girl started sobbing and Liam stood up abruptly, slamming his fist on the table as he did so.
"Shut the hell up!" He screamed and grabbed his head again.
I was so done.
"I want to go home. Please… I apologize but do let me go." The girl was now kneeling down and I felt bad for her.
Without a word, Liam's bodyguards appeared and tried to grab that girl.
"She hasn't learned her lesson it seems." Liam mumbled when I raced to her side and glared at those bodyguards.
"Enough!"
I sternly said and protected her. There was a high possibility that those bodyguards would push me away but I was ready to take the risk.
They glanced at Liam who gave me a crazy look before he signaled them to step back. I helped the girl up on her feet, hearing her pleading for her freedom. Meanwhile, Liam sat there giving me a challenging look.
"Let her go." I say and calmly looked at Liam who raised an eyebrow at me.
If in some other place, he would have looked hot. For now, he was my opponent, and we shouldn't admire them, right?
"What makes you think that I'll listen to you?" Liam smirked and I wanted to punch his face now.
"As your lawful wife and the Lady of this house, I don't think I would need any other reason to decide about this." My firm answer made his smirk drop and the way he stared at me, was a bit uncomfortable.
Nervous and anxious, the two seconds or so seemed like five minutes to me when suddenly Liam spoke,
"Let her go. She better not being seen."
He clicked his tongue and as if lost his interest, resumed drinking his lemonade. I watched him open mouthed.
What was that?
He didn't throw tantrum, made my life difficult, mocked me or nothing! He just accepted it? I can't believe it.
There might be a catch to this~ I'm pretty sure.
The girl was ecstatic and wasted no time in running away from there. As for Halen, she shared a glance at me which was supposedly surprising. I'm doubtful too.
Liam might have hit his head or something. Or it is possible that he didn't want to bully me in front of this girl. Who knows what the mighty Liam was thinking.
Hence, in this daze, I couldn't even enjoy my food.
Sadly…
"Come here." Liam spoke and I gave him a quizzical glance.
"What?" I asked, wary of his next step.
"Just come here." He spoke politely that I was forced to see what will happen if I do so.
I stood and walked to his side. He kept staring at me, creeping me out. Out of blue, he then grabbed my arm and tugged at it.
Aahhh!
My body lost its balance and fell on him.
"Ooooshhh!" I jumped back to my feet hearing him cry out in pain.
It was baffling the way he was holding his nether part and squirming like a fish out of water. Freaking out, I tried to help him… but I didn't know how to. Without thinking much, I pushed his hands off while touching it; it only made him hiss in pain even more.
"I am sorry…"
I don't know how to help!
"Dumb girl!" He cussed, taking me aback.
"Excuse me! You are dumber! If not for your dumbass action of suddenly tugging at my arm, this wouldn't have happened!"
Holy god! What is he thinking of himself!
I huffed and left him there ignoring his cusses thrown at me and at random people. While I was busy blaming him inside my head, Halen pulled me in the living room and gestured me to be quiet.
She giggled and smacked my head, teasing me for no reason. I think the entire house has turned insane.
"Mrs. Brown, you didn't get it?" She questioned, puzzling me again.
"Get what?" I asked to which she muttered under her breath, "Mr. Brown was right. You are dumb!"
Now I was offended.
"Halen!" My stern voice made her lose all the friendliness and stand upright.
She apologized before continuing.
"What I meant was Mr. Brown definitely wanted to be close to you at that moment. It's a romantic thing… how can you not get it. I think he wanted to kiss you." She giggled yet again while I was dumbfounded.
"Kiss? And meee?" I asked to which she nodded her head frantically.
For a second, I was blushing. It made me nervous, the idea of being kissed by the hottest billionaire… then again, it was merely an assumption.
So, I took a hold of myself and ignored her.
"You are reading too much between the lines! Stop watching the crappy dramas and focus on your work." I added in haste and left, ignoring her glances that say 'oh-really?'
But the thought has already made an impact on my head. I mean, it gave me those butterflies. Even if I am not sure whether I want to be kissed by Liam or not, but it was still a beautiful thing.
The fact that I was never kissed before, except my mom. There was never a guy interested in me. At times I thought Mark was but it would be bad if I confront and finds that it was all in my head. That would have ruined our friendship.
For me, Mark is a great guy. I wouldn't have minded being his girlfriend. Maybe, we being friends is far better, though. Since I have been declared as a defaulter, there are people looking for us and I don't want Mark to keep running, hiding his identity like me. It would be injustice to him.
I lay next to the swimming pool and started recalling everything from past. My heart was heavy, and I felt sleepy too… However, the warmth of the sun was replaced with a shadow; a cold one.
Who is it?
"If you're done lazing around, could you care coming inside and talk business?" Liam stood there, dressed up in a suit, looking completely freshened up.
"Wait! How's your…" I started and was surprised to see his face turn red.
Like actual red! Is he a chameleon?
"Ahem… Fine." He mumbled and then it hit me suddenly.
"Oh jeez… why you guys have to think otherwise? I was asking about your head! Because you were grabbing your forehead and grumbling earlier" I started to imitate him.
"Why is the room so bright? Oh… ahhh!"
And before I can go on further, I heard him suppress his laughter with a fake cough. It put me to a halt. I knew I embarrassed myself. Especially with those last fake sounds.
"Shall we head inside now?" He asked and I didn't wait to answer him.
Because I was the one who was running inwards without a word, feeling ashamed.
