Chapter 242
The calm voice of a man in black rang out. The Wind Splitting Mantises paused for a moment, then suddenly swung their claws, launching pale blue wind blades that shot out with a faint glow surrounding them.
"Get out of my way!"
With a grip of his palm, an ice blade, more refined than usual, formed in his hand. Blaze Regret swung it angrily, slicing the approaching wind blades in half.
Even though he survived this round of attacks, Blaze Regret's expression was grim. Blood trickled from his wrist, staining the soil beneath him.
Anyone else in his place, even using a stronger spirit technique, would have perished. Trying to counter spirit beasts with spirit techniques was a fool's errand, especially with the overwhelming numbers against him.
"Such abundant spiritual power," the leading man in black remarked, surprised to see Blaze Regret fend off the Wind Splitting Mantises' attack with an ice blade formed from his spiritual energy. Even he wouldn't claim to do that, yet Blaze Regret, merely a second tier spirit Imperial master, had managed it.
"But you still have to die," the man in black sneered coldly. Blaze Regret hadn't summoned his spirit beast for so long, which could only mean one thing: something must have happened to his spirit beast. A spirit master without a spirit beast stood no chance against so many adversaries.
Blaze Regret darted swiftly around the field, gritting his teeth as he pushed his spiritual energy to the limit. Yet, despite his efforts, the Wind Splitting Mantises' claws still left bloodstained tracks on his body. If this continued, he would die from blood loss before the mantises could kill him.
"Almost there, I can sense it. The Red and Rock horn Dragon Rhinoceros are on their way here," a flicker of joy flashed in Blaze Regret's eyes. He unleashed his spiritual energy without reservation, forming ice blades to block the mantises' movements.
"What a troublesome guy. Wind-
Splitting Mantises, use Wind Blast to pierce through him directly!" one of the men in black ordered with a vicious tone.
"Hiss!"
Upon hearing this, a Wind Splitting Mantis flapped its wings, closing in on Blaze Regret like a whirlwind. Its sharp claws suddenly extended, gleaming with a pale blue light, mercilessly aiming for Blaze Regret's abdomen.
"No way to dodge. If that's the case, I'll take it head on!"
Clenching his teeth, Blaze Regret's eyes showed a crazed determination. Flames spread under his feet and gathered at his fingertips, striking out like lightning.
"Slash!"
The cold claws pierced through Blaze Regret's body, drawing a blood arrow. Just as the men in black began to smile, Blaze Regret's fingers stabbed fiercely into the mantis's neck.
Pulling his fingers out, Blaze Regret used his hand like a blade, enduring the sharp pain from his abdomen to chop at the mantis's limb. With a crisp crack, the mantis's claw separated from its body, remaining embedded in Blaze Regret.
The scene happened in an instant, and before the men in black could react, Blaze Regret had already retreated swiftly, gritting his teeth.
"My Wind Splitting Mantis!" the man who had spoken earlier screamed in anguish. He never imagined Blaze Regret would risk severe injury to slay his spirit beast.
"How did you do that?" the leading man in black asked coldly, staring at Blaze Regret. A second tier spirit Imprerial master shouldn't have been able to kill a third tier Imperial grade Wind Splitting Mantis.
"Because I just advanced to a third tier spirit Imperial master," Blaze Regret replied with a pained smile, as blood from his abdomen continued to flow along the mantis's claw.
"You are the first to earn my respect, but you still must die."
As the judgmental words of the man in black fell, the remaining Wind Splitting Mantises shot out like lightning, their claws extending with a sharp snap, targeting Blaze Regret from every angle.
However, just as the mantises were about to strike Blaze Regret down, an earth shattering roar of fury suddenly erupted from within the forest.
"Roar!"
The furious roar, like a thunderous explosion, left several men in black dizzy. A violent gust of wind followed, sweeping away the Wind splitting Mantises like a storm.
"What is that!"
The leading man in black barely had time to show his shock before a silver figure, accompanied by a sonic boom, rushed in from afar. It stomped a Wind splitting Mantis into the ground before it could escape.
Its head was crushed under the foot of the Rock horn Dragon Rhinoceros, and the Wind splitting Mantis struggled briefly before falling silent.
Immediately, the scene fell into silence. Eyes filled with intense fear were fixed on the silver figure, and some of the men in black were already trembling uncontrollably.
"A sixth tier... high level Imperial grade spirit beast..."
The leading man in black swallowed hard. He couldn't understand why this spirit beast would come to aid Blaze Regret, but it was clear that their fate was sealed today.
"If you had come any later, you'd be collecting my corpse," Blaze Regret grinned, blood flowing like a river from his abdomen. The Rock horn Dragon Rhinoceros's eyes flared with fury.
"Bang!" Stay connected through empire
As the Rock horn Dragon Rhinoceros stomped its foot, a rock pillar erupted from the ground, standing beside Blaze Regret to prevent him from collapsing.
After a slight pause, Blaze Regret chuckled softly, resting one arm on the rock pillar while the other hand covered the Wind splitting Mantis's blade embedded in his abdomen. With a swift motion, he pulled out the blood soaked blade.
Gritting his teeth in pain, Blaze Regret retrieved some healing medicine from the void realms stone and poured it onto his wound, slowing the blood flow significantly.
Upon seeing this, the leader of the men in black flinched. Such fierce resolve, even for someone used to living on the edge like him, was unparalleled. How resilient was this young man's spirit?
"Even though his Rock horn Dragon Rhinoceros is sixth tier, we have the numbers. If we proceed cautiously, we can still take it down," the leader of the men in black reassured his terrified comrades, shouting sternly.
