Strongest Maniac: Born in an Asylum

Chapter 56: I Can Accept Anything, Except For...

Hospital Corridor.

"Monster! Monster!"

The families of patients screamed in terror at the sight of the monster in the corridor. They scrambled and crawled into the patient rooms, barricading the doors. The patients in their beds looked at them in confusion.

"There's a monster outside," they stammered.

Old Wang was not doing well. His face, which had once been human, had now completely transformed into the head of a fly. A pair of wings sprouted from his back, tearing through his skin. His consciousness was fading, and strange images flashed through his mind.

In the vision, he seemed to be in a seafood shop, staring at a piece of salmon. Splat! A fly swatter came down, embedding itself in the salmon, which was then thrown away.

It was a fly.

The shop owner swatted the fly, then simply rinsed the piece of salmon with water and put it back in the display case. Then, Old Wang swaggered in and bought that very box of salmon.

"So noisy, so noisy. Which room is Little Leon in?"

Old Wang staggered forward, his only thought to find Little Leon's room. His other thoughts were a jumbled mess. He kept muttering to himself, I'm a fly, I'm well hidden. I just ate a little meat, why did you have to swat me? No... I'm not dead. This is just parasitism.

Someone with a weapon charged at him. He impatiently waved his hand, sending the person flying.

So annoying! Don't bother me!

Old Wang walked to the end of the corridor and saw a half-open hospital room.

Inside the hospital room.

Leo and Walter sat side-by-side on the beds, swinging their legs, staring intently at the little girl on her bed. The smiles on their faces were brilliant. They had been staring at each other for nearly an hour. The little girl smiled back, not finding the big brothers' smiles strange at all. In fact, she found them very warm.

Mark Zhang nervously chattered on about nonsense, hoping to distract the two patients and get them to stop staring at his daughter. If you have a problem, take it up with me. I'm a grown man, I'm not afraid of you.

Walter had gotten his needle case back. It was all thanks to Leo. The doctors had wanted to take him for a check-up, but he had refused to go unless they returned Walter's needle case. The doctors were in a difficult position. If it were a normal patient, a stern scolding would have done the trick. But these two were mental patients. How many lives did they have to spare? Since they wouldn't back down, the kind-hearted doctors had to give in.

BANG!

The door to the hospital room was violently thrown open.

To Old Wang, his vision was blurry, but he could see more things. He saw the two of them sitting on the side of the bed, swinging their legs.

Their eyes met.

A moment later, Old Wang looked away. "Little Leon isn't here. I'm in the wrong place."

Old Wang turned to leave, his mind consumed with finding Little Leon. His other thoughts were a confused jumble. He kept muttering, "I'm a fly. I was well hidden. I just ate a little meat. Why did you have to swat me? No... I'm not dead. This is just parasitism."

The commotion attracted Leo and Walter's attention.

"Leo, he's seriously injured," Walter said, alarmed.

"We have to save him," Leo said flatly.

They exchanged a look, their expressions becoming firm and resolute. So what if they were mental patients? They had kind hearts. They couldn't just stand by and watch someone get hurt.

Leo jumped off the bed barefoot, ran to the door, grabbed Old Wang, and tried to pull him into the room. Old Wang was very strong, parasitized by a malevolent entity. A normal person would be no match for him. But unfortunately for him... the one grabbing him was not a normal person. It was Leo.

"Don't move! You're seriously injured! Can't you see your body is falling apart?" Leo pushed Old Wang onto the bed and then looked at Walter gravely. "Walter, it's up to you now."

Walter took out his needle case and patted his chest. "Don't worry, I'm here."

Mark Zhang huddled in a corner with his daughter, his eyes wide with fear. That's definitely not a human! What are you doing? It's too dangerous!

Vice Director's Office.

Lee Fortune was humming a tune. Life was good. His phone rang. He lazily answered.

"Hello? What's up?"

"Director, something's happened! There's a malevolent entity in the inpatient department, on the tenth floor! You have to come quickly!"

Whoosh!

Lee Fortune shot up from his chair, his expression becoming serious. A malevolent entity in the hospital? That's not good! There were so many patients in the hospital, their bodies already weak. How could they survive an encounter with a malevolent entity? And this was his territory. He would not allow a malevolent entity to run rampant.

Lee Fortune searched around and found a golf club in his office. He swung it a few times. It felt pretty good. As he left his office, he called the police. He wasn't in the hospital to fight malevolent entities. But as the Vice Director, it was his duty to protect every patient and colleague. Even if he couldn't beat it, he couldn't be afraid.

When he got downstairs, many of the hospital visitors were rushing frantically towards the exit.

"Security! Grab your weapons and follow me!" Lee Fortune yelled.

But no one paid him any attention. However, the driver he was planning to promote ran over from the ambulance, holding a steel pipe.

"Vice Director, I'm here!"

Lee Fortune nodded at him. Without waiting for security, he rushed towards the tenth floor of the inpatient department.

Tenth Floor Corridor.

Leon had imagined his future life to be happy, warm, and fulfilling. But now, all his fantasies were shattered. The most beautiful girlfriend in his heart was gone.

Just a moment ago, his heart had ached for his girlfriend, wondering why she was so uncomfortable. He had held her in his arms to comfort her, only to find that her smooth skin had become hairy. He had looked down and nearly been scared to death.

He immediately ran for the exit, but the woman, in her pain, grabbed his ankle. He fell to the floor of the corridor and tried to get up and run, but his former girlfriend held him tight.

"Leon, don't leave me," she said, her voice hoarse. "You said you loved me."

The woman's hair was disheveled, and she looked much like Old Wang. A viscous green liquid dripped down her face.

"I do love you..."

"...but that was when you were beautiful."

Seeing his girlfriend's transformation, Leon's face turned pale with fear. He kicked the face of the woman he had once cherished so much. He struggled free, stood up, and backed away. He saw the bank card that had fallen from his girlfriend's purse on the floor. Without a moment's hesitation, he snatched it up, put it in his pocket, and ran.

You really think I'm stupid, Leon?

Yes, I am a lapdog. As long as you're beautiful, I can lick you until you question your existence. But when you're not beautiful, the lapdog is gone. Not all lapdogs are desperate.

Every time he heard her eating ice cream, his face would show the smile of a lapdog, but his heart would be weeping. I will win you over with my true feelings.

Later, an old aunt who was his roommate had told him, "Your girlfriend is pregnant. You should pay more attention."

The news had been like a bolt from the blue. But then he thought of his own infertility and how he would be getting a child for free. How lucky he was! He had even saved money on IVF. He could accept this small matter.

I love you, I'll lick you. I can accept anything about you.

The only thing I can't accept is... you becoming this ugly.

Lee Fortune and the driver stood in the corridor.

"Malevolent entity! This is Hua Tian Hospital! I, Lee Fortune, as the Vice Director here, will not allow you to run rampant! I'll give you one chance. Surrender now, and I might not have to hit you," Lee Fortune yelled, holding the golf club and waving his white coat.

But he felt a little nauseous. This malevolent entity wasn't even as good-looking as the octopus.
