Strongest Maniac: Born in an Asylum

Chapter 20: So Much Food!

"You'll be able to eat hot food right away. Just wait a little longer."

The female orderly, Dina, smiled warmly, comforting Leo's hungry heart. She knew, of course, that the person in front of her and the one opposite him were the most dangerous patients in the Green Mountain Asylum.

They had a glorious track record.

She couldn't be fooled by their harmless appearance.

Their level of self-torture surpassed the limits of mental illness.

She had once read a book and found a personality type.

'A personality type that is harmless to society but has a hidden self-destructive tendency.'

Soon, the fragrant smell of food wafted over.

"You've all been very good, so everyone gets a chicken leg today," Dina said gently.

A trick, it was all a blatant trick.

There were already chicken legs, but she said it was an extra reward.

Looking at the fragrant food, Leo wiped the saliva from the corner of his mouth.

Why was he drooling? Because he was so hungry.

A mental patient's need for food changes with their mood.

Leo couldn't bear the hunger anymore. He grabbed the chicken leg and tore at it, even crushing the bones and swallowing them. He ate like a wolf. In the blink of an eye, he had cleaned his plate.

Not a single grain of rice was left.

Walter's mouth was wide open. Seeing how hungry Leo was, his heart ached. What had happened? Why was he so hungry?

"You can have mine." He pushed his food in front of Leo. "I'll give it to you. You can't starve."

Leo shook his head. "You're hungry too. You eat it."

"I'm not hungry."

Walter's mouth watered as he looked at the chicken leg.

But Leo was his best friend. He would rather go hungry himself than let his best friend starve.

The female orderly, Dina, was very pleased with the current situation.

Every patient was stable, enjoying their food. But when she saw Leo's clean plate, she was a little surprised. She bent down to check the floor. Had he thrown it all away?

The floor was neat, not a single grain of rice.

Weird.

Where did all the food go?

"So good! You ate it all up."

Dina wanted to ask Leo where the food had gone, but remembering that his way of thinking was different from hers, she couldn't be so direct. She used praise as a way to probe.

"Hungry," Leo said, holding his plate out to Dina.

Dina was stunned, then smiled. "Then I'll get you another portion. Be good and wait here."

"Yeah!"

Leo sat there quietly, looking down at the stainless steel tabletop. He swallowed. The smooth, shiny surface looked so delicious…

If he could, he would open his mouth and take a bite to see how it tasted. He was so, so hungry. The hunger was unbearable.

The Qi Gong cultivation method absorbed the energy particles scattered in the world, making full use of every cell. When every cell was full of vitality, the body's consumption would increase to an extremely high level.

The hunger would be dozens of times greater than that of a normal person.

"So well-behaved. Here's some delicious food."

Dina put down the lunchbox, and she had deliberately added another chicken leg.

"Seeing as you've been so good, I've added another chicken leg for you."

Leo continued to wolf down his food. The more he ate, the more he wanted to eat. The more he ate, the hungrier he became. His stomach was like a bottomless pit, greedily devouring the food in front of him.

Crunch!

Suddenly, the spoon broke. He didn't care. He swallowed all the plastic in his mouth and, feeling it wasn't enough, he swallowed the spoon in his hand directly.

Walter gently patted the back of Leo's hand. "Let's eat slowly, or we'll choke."

"Mm." Leo slowed down, but the food in the lunchbox was already gone.

At this moment, Dina, who was standing next to Leo, had been watching him eat. Her eyes were wide, as if she had seen a ghost. She couldn't believe anyone could be so hungry.

Even though she had worked in the mental asylum for so long and had a wealth of experience, she had never seen such a scene.

"I'm still hungry."

Leo held out his clean plate to Dina, smiling with his eyes closed.

Dina said, stunned, "That was two portions already."

"Mm, mm," Leo nodded obediently, his meaning clear. I'm still hungry. I want to eat more, a lot more.

She wanted to tell Leo that he couldn't eat too much, or it would be bad for his stomach. But that might work for a normal person, but not for a mental patient.

"Be good, you can't eat anymore. Be a good boy, okay?" Dina whispered.

If I whisper to you like this, you won't get sick and hurt me, right?

Leo lowered his head and touched his stomach. So hungry.

"Alright."

Not long after.

Leo quietly stood up, pretending to exercise, but he was always slyly watching the orderlies.

These people are so evil.

Walter looked at Leo in confusion. What was he trying to do?

It was as if he wanted to avoid the orderlies' gazes.

As Leo's best friend, he felt it was necessary to help him. He finished the chicken leg in his lunchbox and then hit his head on the table.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The stainless steel table rumbled.

"Someone, quick! He's having an episode!" the orderly Dina shouted hurriedly. The other orderlies rushed over to help.

Walter peeked at Leo and saw that he was safe. He then returned to normal.

"I want to eat."

He pulled the lunchbox in front of him and continued to eat with his head down. Then he looked up and grinned. "So delicious."

The orderlies looked at each other.

They had been professionally trained and had a procedure for these sudden situations. But faced with Walter's incomprehensible actions, they hadn't yet figured out the cause.

The Kitchen!

Several aunties were eating. They were all highly paid chefs with excellent cooking skills.

Director Hess had said.

Food is the common language of humanity.

Whether it's a mental patient or a normal person, they all have a need for delicious food, and they all have the same taste buds.

If a normal person eats something they don't like, they'll bear with it and just not eat it next time.

But a mental patient will directly vent their emotions.

Flipping the table is a light matter.

So, in terms of food, they couldn't be careless. At the very least, they had to ensure basic deliciousness.

Suddenly.

The cooking aunties noticed someone approaching. They turned around and saw… a mental patient.

"Shh!"

Leo put his finger to his lips, a brilliant smile on his face. "I'm so hungry. I want to eat."

Clatter! Clatter!

The cooking aunties' hands, holding their plates, were trembling. The spoons clattered against the plates.

Leo's smile sent a chill down their spines.

Hungry?

Do mental patients eat people?

Where are the orderlies?

Director Hess had promised them that they wouldn't have to come into contact with the mental patients, because they were afraid. You never knew when a seemingly fine mental patient would suddenly grab a knife and start slashing people.

It was terrifying.

Leo saw that there was a lot of food on the side. His eyes lit up. He walked over to the food, grabbed it, and stuffed it into his mouth.

So much!
