Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Park Practice & Bean’s Training Shenanigans
The sun peeked through tall trees as Joseph trudged down the winding park path, backpack over his shoulder and Rotom buzzing at his side.
Tyrunt lumbered along, tail swishing dangerously close to low-hanging branches. Bean trotted ahead in his usual cap, squeaking excitedly every time he spotted a flower patch. Riolu walked silently beside Joseph, eyes narrowed in focus.
Joseph yawned. "I still can't believe we're doing this. First Gym Battle tomorrow, and we look like a sleep-deprived field trip."
Rotom bleeped out a motivational GIF: Bean drawn as a ripped weightlifter, flexing.
Chat (Replay): "BEAN IS NOT YOUR ROLE MODEL." "Look at Riolu, ready to solo the Gym." "Tyrunt gonna chomp the Gym Leader's plants."
They settled on a grassy clearing under a big oak tree. Joseph set down cones to mark a rough battle zone.
"Alright, team! We're here to drill moves, test combos, and maybe figure out how to not trip over our own tails on stream tomorrow."
Tyrunt chuffed proudly. Riolu folded his arms like a tiny sensei. Bean dramatically flipped his hat backward.
Joseph handed Rotom a mini tripod stand. "Camera mode, buddy. EeTvee fam needs to see this."
Rotom buzzed, instantly going live.
Chat: "LET'S GOOOO!" "Will Bean listen today? Place your bets."
"First up, Tyrunt! We're gonna work on Rock Tomb. Remember, aim at the targets, not me."
Joseph set up a pile of wooden crates as makeshift targets.
Tyrunt stomped his feet, tail wagging. He inhaled, chomped the ground, and— CRUNCH —huge jagged rocks erupted from the earth.
…Missing the crates entirely. One boulder bounced toward Joseph.
"AH—!" He dove sideways, rolling in the grass as the rock cracked harmlessly against a tree.
Tyrunt tilted his giant head, clearly proud of his handiwork.
Chat: "Target practice: 0/10 accuracy." "Joseph has 'dodge' move." "Bean's face behind Tyrunt though 😂"
Riolu sighed, shook his head, and padded over to Tyrunt. He gestured: wide stance, focused aim, steady breath. Tyrunt mimicked him, claws clacking together awkwardly.
Joseph dusted grass off his hat. "See, Tyrunt? Listen to Riolu — he's got the calm vibes."
Tyrunt tried again. This time, the rocks landed closer to the crates — one even grazed a corner, sending wood splinters flying.
Riolu gave Tyrunt an approving nod. Tyrunt roared happily, his tail thumping so hard it shook the camera feed.
Chat: "Progress!!" "Riolu is the real MVP coach." "Protect Riolu at all costs."
Meanwhile, Bean was suspiciously quiet.
Joseph turned around just in time to see him behind a bush, slapping homemade stickers on everything — trees, rocks, the cones, and yes, Tyrunt's tail.
"Bean! What are you doing?!"
Bean squeaked, pointing at his new stickers: a tiny doodle of his own face with the words 'Property of Bean' in crooked letters.
"You're supposed to be practicing Leech Seed, not starting a sticker brand!"
Bean gave him a big thumbs up and stuck another sticker on Joseph's shoe.
Chat: "HE'S BRANDING HIS TERRITORY." "Property of Bean merch WHEN?" "He's an entrepreneur, Joseph. Let him cook."
Once the sticker shenanigans were contained (with Riolu confiscating Bean's sticker roll and holding it over his head while Bean jumped pathetically for it), Joseph refocused.
"Okay, Riolu — your turn. Let's test that Focus Punch."
Riolu stepped into the center of the cones, legs apart, eyes shut. His paws glowed faintly. The grass around him bent outward, the air shimmering with faint blue energy.
Joseph held his breath — so did the stream.
Riolu opened his eyes, dashed forward, and struck a practice log. CRACK! The log split clean in half.
Joseph pumped his fist. "Let's go! That's our ace right there!"
Riolu wiped sweat from his brow, then calmly resumed meditating.
Tyrunt and Bean clapped their claws and paws. Even Rotom flashed a pixelated WOW! emoji.
Chat: "HE'S TOO COOL." "Tyrunt's face: 'I wanna do that!'" "Bean could never."
They took a breather under the oak tree, passing around berries. Tyrunt munched happily. Bean stuffed berries into his leaf hat for later. Riolu, ever the stoic monk, politely sipped berry juice.
Joseph read out a few live comments:
"Are you nervous about the Gym Battle?" "Who's gonna battle? Tyrunt first? Riolu?" "Can you sell Bean stickers as official EeTvee merch?!"
Joseph laughed. "One, I'm terrified. Two, we'll see who battles first — Tyrunt's excited, but Riolu's our heavy hitter. And three… fine, maybe we'll sell the stickers. If Bean promises to stop covering the park in them."
Bean squeaked indignantly and stuck a sticker on Tyrunt's nose.
Tyrunt just sneezed, sending the sticker flying into Joseph's lap.
As the sun dipped low, Joseph called it a day. The team sprawled on the grass, exhausted but happy.
"Alright, EeTvee fam," he said to Rotom's lens. "Today was… productive. Tyrunt's aim is better. Riolu's a focus machine. Bean is… Bean. But we're ready."
He sat up, voice warm but buzzing with nervous energy. "Tomorrow's our first Gym Badge challenge. We'll stream every second. No hiding the mistakes, no editing the panic. It's gonna be us, exactly as we are."
Tyrunt nudged him, letting out a sleepy roar. Riolu gave a single thumbs up. Bean, already dozing off with his sticker roll clutched tight, squeaked once in his sleep.
Joseph smiled, the EeTvee logo glowing on his phone screen.
"See you tomorrow, EeTvee fam. Let's make history — one badge, one sticker, one Tyrunt tail-smack at a time."
