Stepping on the Demoness to become the strongest

Chapter 54: The Mightiest Spear_2

Yan Yu, however, ignored the clamorous crowd and simply continued his Sword Flight, his hand rapidly forming sword techniques. The Liangyi Micro Dust Sword teleported ghost-like and before the three Clerics could react, swiftly cut them down.

The Brussels Command Center, watching through satellite surveillance, witnessed the complete failure of PLAN-A and realized that even if ordinary Transcendents successfully provoked Yan Yu, they lacked the ability to hold him in place.

The one consolation was that Yan Yu had indeed struck against these three people, proving that the psychological experts' profile of his character was very accurate:

This man loved to show off tremendously, and a show-off's tolerance for trifling provocation is very low, making it possible to exploit this to target him!

PLAN-B: Send more formidable Transcendents to intercept him.

Two previously contracted Transcendents quickly embarked on their journey, namely "Phoenix" Phoenix and "Nether River" Oliver, both of whom were Clerics with a variety of methods and renowned for their tough-to-kill style. Surely they must be able to hold Yan Yu, Lu Country's Sword Bearer, firmly in place!

Arriving in front of Yan Yu and the others, Phoenix transformed directly into a fiery Phoenix, while Oliver summoned a small boat from the Nether River, rising against the wind. Before fully encountering Yan Yu, both simultaneously slid open their phones, playing a recording in clear Lu Country language:

"Garbage Yan Yu, the sick man of East Asia, do you dare to battle your grandpa?"

Before Yan Yu and Mei Yingxue could react, the psychic Lu Country woman, Anna, was so infuriated she was about to attack them, but then she heard Yan Yu suddenly say:

"If they're so eager to fight, just conjure a demon for them to play with."

"Okay!" Anna immediately took out the casting materials, a foul-smelling liquid made from the blood of vipers, toadstool powder, and ground rat tail bones, and began writing a Poison Curse in the air with her hands while rapidly chanting obscure and blasphemous words.

Seconds later, a towering demon more than ten meters tall tore open the void, struggling out from a rift in space, casting its malevolent and hateful gaze upon everyone present.

"Be careful," Anna quickly warned. "I'll have a hard time controlling a demon of this rank..."

"No need to control it," Yan Yu said. "Let's just leave."

"Ah?" Anna was baffled.

Seeing Mei Yingxue had already followed Yan Yu, Anna had no choice but to spur her broom forward, pouring her Mana into it without reservation, nearly pushing the speed to its limits.

The three of them fled straight away, while Phoenix and Oliver, who wanted to pursue, were caught up in the demon's close-range onslaught and had to fight back in self-defense. Phoenix Flames clashed crazily with waters from the Nether River and the demon's Evil Power, stirring a stupendous roar in the sky.

Still unable to halt Yan Yu and his companions, the Brussels Command Center fell silent for a moment.

In fact, there was a contingency plan for if Yan Yu refused to engage in battle, as both Phoenix and Oliver were equipped with emergency acceleration methods. But now that they were entwined in close combat with the demon summoned by the Witch, forcing them to leave the battlefield to chase after Yan Yu and the others would mean exposing their unprotected backs to the great demon—a risk neither was willing to take.

PLAN-B also collapsed completely, seemingly indicating that among the Transcendents available for deployment, none could contain Yan Yu.

Consequently, representatives from certain countries present at the meeting proposed a forceful military solution: to deploy the ASMPA hypersonic missile, carrying a nuclear warhead equivalent to 300,000 tons of TNT, to detonate directly above the head of Lu Country's Sword Bearer.

"Lu Country's Sword Bearer is said to be like a human nuclear bomb, let's see if he can withstand a real one!"

This proposal was immediately vetoed by headquarters for two reasons: first, the battlefield was located on European soil, so Brussels would definitely not agree; and second, targeting the Sword Bearer with nuclear weapons would most likely provoke a highly hostile response from Lu Country, risking a world-class nuclear war.

"Let the Transcendents take care of the Transcendents," is now a global consensus. Once the conflict escalates to unrestricted military confrontation, the inevitable outcome is the destruction of Earth and the extinction of mortals... Conversely, it is unlikely that Transcendents would be eradicated, as these beings are not constrained by the physical fragility of mortals.

The mortal bureaucrats who still wield domination, of course, have no plans to engage in mutual warfare, much less perish together and hand the world over to the Transcendents.

The Brussels Allied Forces Headquarters soon descended into chaos, with bureaucrats and representatives arguing furiously amongst each other, unable to form an effective next step— or rather, considering how Yan Yu and his companions were almost unstoppable by now, how to shirk responsibility and strike against political rivals afterward became the more pressing concern at this stage.

Yan Yu and the others finally reached the Vosges Mountains, where they saw a huge, pale-golden light shield already standing amid the mountain range.

The Barrier itself was completely transparent and invisible to the naked eye. But even the slightest breeze or stream of matter passing through the Barrier would immediately refract pale golden light, flowing delicately along the energy directions, like a logical circuit etched onto a chip.

Anna, eager to try, asked:

"Shall we blast it?"

"No," Yan Yu said. "Defensive technology is more valuable than offensive."

To find Transcendents in the world capable of breaking this Barrier, you could probably list at least a dozen. But to have them protect large populations? Most likely none could do it.

"I'll take a look," Mei Yingxue instructed. "Yan Yu, try attacking the shield, with the least amount of force."

"Okay," Yan Yu manipulated the sword technique, and the Liangyi Sword immediately flew out, striking the Shroud Barrier.
