Chapter 45 - This Intense, Huh?
Su Yaoyue was all business—no chitchat with Li Chuan. She just told the crew to lead on.
Li Chuan tagged along like it was nothing, watching the show—no one shooed him off.
After flying over an hour, they hit the next spot. Su Yaoyue didn’t waste a word—straight at the target.
This time, it was a Monster Flower, eighth-level Qi Refining. Tough for the group, but for her? Way easier than the last one.
She tanked its poison spikes and one-shotted it.
That’s when her Treasure Weapon armor shone—those spikes hit the defensive array it formed, not even a ripple.
“This Treasure Weapon armor’s that strong?!” Li Chuan’s jaw dropped. First time seeing it in action.
Don’t blame his ignorance.
A lone cultivator like him—how much could he have seen?
Not just him—even in the Yin-Yang Sect, few disciples had witnessed Treasure Weapon armor’s power firsthand.
Other sects might equip their stars with it, but not here.
Yin-Yang Sect’s stingy as hell with rewards—no chance at Treasure Weapon armor.
Li Chuan’s latest haul was big, right?
Not even a Magic Weapon robe.
The sect pushed disciples to hustle on their own—too many handouts, and how’d they trade among themselves?
Yin-Yang Sect disciples weren’t exactly broke, but the sect had too many good cultivation resources to swap for.
So they prioritized those—Magic Weapon gear like robes came second.
Li Chuan’s current getup—a top-grade Tier 1 Magic Weapon robe—wouldn’t dare tank that Monster Flower’s spikes. Even if they didn’t pierce, they’d sting like hell.
A sectmate nearby chimed in, “Lots in the sect say Senior Sister Su wasted big bucks on that Treasure Weapon armor. They don’t know its power—short-sighted fools.”
“Even tenth-level Qi Refining monster Spirit Plants—she can tank ‘em with that armor. What kind of Magic Weapon robe matches that?”
“I’ve got some spare cash lately—gonna grab a set myself.”
Li Chuan eyed his smug grin—like he was the one in armor—and scoffed. Broke and bragging? Lame.
“Tomorrow, I’m buying one, Junior Brother. Wanna come? We can check ‘em out together—whaddya say?” the guy pressed, smug as ever.
Li Chuan didn’t buy it. A decent Tier 1 Treasure Weapon armor set? At least ten thousand contribution points. How many Qi Refining disciples could swing that?
Sure enough, the guy’s face stiffened—especially when Li Chuan whipped out his Sect Leader-gifted, top-grade Tier 1 Spirit Weapon sword.
The sword’s glowing aura made the guy’s heart skip. “No need, Senior Brother! Junior Brother’s got plans tomorrow—you go ahead!” he stammered.
Come on, he was just flexing—didn’t need to flash treasure!
The others gawked.
“Dare I ask, Senior Brother—is that a Spirit Weapon?”
“Senior Brother’s a low-key badass—packing a treasure like that! Must be a big name in the outer sect. We’ve been rude not asking your name!”
“Senior Brother, forgive our manners!”
Li Chuan’s Spirit Weapon sword? Worth as much as Su Yaoyue’s Treasure Weapon armor.
One flash, and no one doubted he could afford armor—suddenly, they were all kissing up.
Even Su Yaoyue glanced over.
Li Chuan’s lips twitched up.
Sure enough, a 30-contribution flying sword got no looks—but a ten-thousand-plus Spirit Weapon? It spoke for him.
“Just call me Senior Brother Li Chuan,” he said, stashing the sword.
Like he hadn’t just flexed.
The group moved on, but now someone kept chatting him up.
Soon, the fourth-level Qi Refining old-timer pointed at a ten-meter tree a hundred meters off. “Senior Sister Su, that’s it—the Copper Skin Monster Tree. I saw it drag an eighth-level Qi Refining brother underground. Watch out!”
Funny guy—called Li Chuan “Junior Brother” at first, but after the Spirit Weapon reveal, he flipped to “Senior Brother.”
“No problem,” Su Yaoyue said, not sparing him a look, and flew at the tree.
“Wait!” Li Chuan cut in.
“Hm?” Su Yaoyue—shockingly—stopped, turning to him.
Under everyone’s stares, Li Chuan pulled a wild move.
He steered his flying sword—backward.
The old guy and crew blinked, clueless.
Su Yaoyue’s pretty eyes flashed confusion.
Li Chuan retreated a few hundred meters, then waved at her. “Senior Sister Su, come over here first. That’s no ordinary Copper Skin Monster Tree—there’s a few more, same strength, disguised as regular trees around it.”
The old guy and crew paled and bolted toward Li Chuan.
Su Yaoyue stayed put.
“Senior Brother, you serious? Why didn’t we spot those other Monster Trees?” the old guy asked, rattled, once he reached Li Chuan.
Li Chuan grinned. “Don’t believe me? Fly back and see.”
The old guy wouldn’t dare—that eighth-level brother’s underground fate was still fresh.
He prided himself on his Spirit Planting know-how—how’d he miss these other Monster Trees Li Chuan claimed? And why’d a bunch cluster up?
Monster Trees, dim as they are, don’t usually coexist.
But then—he figured with Li Chuan’s gear, especially in front of Senior Sister Su, he wouldn’t pull a cheap prank.
See? Who says money’s nothing? Flash a Spirit Weapon, and strangers who don’t even know him trust him blind—like Qi Refining folks with Spirit Weapons can’t lie.
“Senior Brother Li Chuan, why didn’t you say something back there?” the old guy pressed.
Couldn’t they all run together?!
Li Chuan smirked. “Oh, ‘cause one Monster Tree was right nearby. I figured if I spoke, it’d attack—so I found a safe spot first.”
That blackened their faces.
Worthy of a Spirit Weapon guy—decisive as hell, selling out sectmates without a blink.
“Price hike,” Su Yaoyue said out of nowhere.
“No problem, Senior Sister Su!” the old guy agreed fast, then hesitated. “Just…”
He paused, bowing to Li Chuan. “Senior Brother Li Chuan, how many Copper Skin Monster Trees are there?”
Li Chuan held up a hand—five fingers spread.
“Five!” they gasped.
“Why so many?!”
“Senior Brother Li Chuan—are all five Copper Skin Monster Trees tenth-level Qi Refining?”
Li Chuan said, “I said same strength—tenth-level or what?”
The old guy rushed to Su Yaoyue, “Senior Sister Su, that’s a lot—maybe we should plan—”
“Three hundred Spirit Stones,” she cut him off, jacking the price.
“Huh? It’s not about Spirit Stones, Senior Sister Su—we’re worried for your safety!”
“Deal or no deal?”
Under her icy glare, the old guy nodded fast, spooked. “Deal, deal!”
Felt like a “no” would’ve cost him his head.
Then he bowed to Li Chuan again. “Senior Brother Li Chuan, please point out the other four Copper Skin Monster Trees’ spots.”
“Copper Skin Monster Tree” is a broad category—most tough Monster Trees have coppery bark, hence the name.
But that last one? It had its own title.
Four Directions Monster Tree.
A Four Directions Monster Tree centers on one, with others hidden in four directions—not always four, though. This time, it just lined up.
Before Li Chuan could speak, Su Yaoyue’s voice rang out. “No need—they’ll show themselves.”
She charged, spear in hand.
Hot damn—this sister’s fierce. Got spice.
Li Chuan loved it—eyes glinting, who knows what decent thoughts he was cooking.
