Chapter 297: Chapter 294
"Relax, I'm not going to inject you… unless—"
Lucas chuckled lightly as he packed up the syringe. Used needles couldn't be reused to prevent cross-contamination.
But before he could finish his sentence—
The three girls took a synchronized step back, their grips on their own ass tightening, as if bracing for an ambush.
"..."
Lucas was speechless.
Did they really think he was going around stabbing people with needles for fun?!
"Unless what?" Nicole asked instinctively, her wariness toward the sharp object making her uneasy. The thought of getting an injection—especially there—was horrifying.
"Unless you get seriously ill. Otherwise, you won't need this."
Lucas took out a few cold medicine tablets from the first-aid kit and handed them to the still-stunned Dahlia. "Give these to Catherine."
For minor illnesses and injuries, it was best to avoid injections. Although recovery took a bit longer, it was better for the body's immune system in the long run.
"O-Okay!" Dahlia obediently took the medicine but immediately took a few steps back from Lucas, still a bit wary of the syringe.
At the same time, she wasn't sure how she was supposed to face Catherine once she woke up.
If Catherine asked why her butt hurt…
That scene was just too terrifying to imagine.
Would she really have to tell her that a man was responsible?!
Lucas, unaware of her inner turmoil, continued giving instructions.
"Nicole, go prepare some saline water for Catherine to drink."
Patients with colds and fevers needed plenty of fluids, and since Catherine had been sick for a while, a little salt water would help replenish her electrolytes.
"Understood," Nicole responded softly and turned to leave.
Lucas clapped his hands together. "Alright, now all she needs is rest. If nothing unexpected happens, she'll wake up feeling better after a good sleep."
Lucas checked on Catherine again and noticed that her pained expression had eased. That meant the medicine was gradually taking effect.
"Thank you!" Dahlia gave him a formal noble curtsy.
"Don't worry, she'll be fine." Lucas waved a hand dismissively before turning to Annie and the others. "Let's go. We shouldn't disturb the patient's rest."
"Alright."
As they walked out, Annie suddenly tilted her head up and asked softly, "Young Master, today is the final match of the hockey tournament. Do you want to go watch it?"
"You and Freya can go. I need to have a serious talk with Amelia about her studies… and about that whole 'cost' thing."
Lucas shot a glance at Amelia, who had gone stiff. He still couldn't believe she had said something like that earlier.
"No." Amelia replied coldly.
"Oh, you don't get a choice." Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Either you go study, or I'll have to punish you by smacking your butt."
Amelia lifted her head, her expression as indifferent as ever. "Would that count as a cost?"
"Stop making it all about butts and 'costs'—and seriously, the butt has nothing to do with the cost…" Lucas rolled his eyes. "What kind of strange thought process is this?"
"Hehehe..." Mina, the cat-eared girl, giggled behind her hand.
"..."
The group left the room, with Dahlia standing there in a daze. She watched them leave, listening to their playful conversation, and for some reason, she felt a little envious.
"This noble is… something else."
Dahlia spoke softly, her voice filled with wonder. It was the first time she had seen such a method of treatment. It seemed even more unbelievable than bloodletting—injecting medicine directly into the body with such unique instruments.
She walked over to the bed and noticed that Catherine's white, exposed ass was still visible. Her eyes twitched in discomfort. There was a red mark where the needle had been, and it was already swollen.
"I hope this goes down quickly, or else it'll be awkward when Catherine wakes up."
Dahlia hurriedly dressed Catherine and covered her with the blanket.
"Catherine, consider this a new experience in life… something most ordinary people could never hope for."
She sat beside the bed, holding Catherine's hand gently. "And Lucas, that noble, is also quite good-looking. Maybe he's your white knight after all."
"..."
As Dahlia continued speaking, she gradually fell asleep by the side of the bed. Meanwhile, Nicole came in with the saline solution. She didn't disturb Dahlia as she quietly fed Catherine some saline and then left the room.
Time passed, and several hours went by.
"Mmm..."
Catherine let out a soft, almost cat-like sound as she slowly opened her eyes. She felt much lighter, and her head no longer felt as dizzy.
"Where am I?" Catherine looked around, noticing the unfamiliar decorations. Her heart tightened slightly in unease. She turned to see Dahlia still asleep at the bedside, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Cough, cough..."
Suddenly, Catherine started coughing. Her throat felt sore and uncomfortable.
"Hmm?"
Dahlia was awakened by the sound. She looked up and saw Catherine's eyes open. Joy filled her turquoise gaze as she exclaimed, "Catherine, you're awake! How do you feel? Is there any part of your body still uncomfortable?"
"I'm fine... just a little dizzy and weak..." Catherine paused mid-sentence, her face full of confusion. She reached back to touch her backside, gently pressing the spot. As soon as she did, her face scrunched in pain, and she immediately grimaced.
"Hiss... it hurts!" Catherine sucked in a cold breath, groaning in confusion. "My butt hurts so much."
"Uh..." Dahlia chuckled awkwardly, not sure how to respond.
"Eh? Dahlia, are you hiding something from me?"
Catherine quickly noticed Dahlia's odd behavior, her eyes staring intently at her, urging, "Tell me quickly, why does my butt hurt so much? Did you hit me on the butt to vent about what happened last time?"
"How could that be!" Dahlia rolled her eyes and scolded, "I wouldn't do such childish things."
"Then what's going on? It really hurts." Catherine pouted, half-raising her butt, not daring to put pressure on the injury.
"If I tell you, you can't get mad?" Dahlia spoke cautiously, realizing there was no hiding it, knowing how persistent Catherine could be.
"Fine!" Catherine looked suspiciously at Dahlia, feeling a bad premonition.
"So, remember when you were sick? Then... eventually, you came to Sedona City, and luckily you met a nobleman named Lucas who could cure illnesses... He used needles to prick your butt and injected medicine into your body, which cured your illness." Dahlia began to explain from the beginning.
"What? That man named Lucas used needles to prick my butt and cured my illness?" Catherine stared at Dahlia with her eyes wide open, looking at her in disbelief, as if saying, "You're kidding, right?"
"It's true. That's how your illness was mostly cured." Dahlia smiled bitterly.
"I... I..." Catherine's face turned red, and she sat frozen, mouth agape, unsure how to express her complicated feelings.
Oh my God! This is so embarrassing! She was the daughter of a duke, and some stranger had seen her innocent butt.
"Dahlia, I'm no longer pure. If my future white knight finds out, he'll despise me." Catherine cried with a mournful expression.
"You're really something..." Dahlia was a little speechless. This silly girl, why did she always worry about things that hadn't even happened yet? She was already worrying about something that hadn't occurred. Moreover, who would dare to despise the daughter of a duke? If someone marries her, they'd have to pamper her, unless they were someone who didn't care about the threats of a duke.
