Chapter 113 The Magic Academy [Part 1]
Ever heard of the purple cow analogy? It goes like this: If you drive by a farm full of cows, there's nothing special about them, just cows, but if you spot a purple cow among them, you're bound to stop and wonder, why is that cow purple?
That's exactly what happened, the news of an S-rank male already spread across the kingdom, but of course everyone already knew the S-rank male was in the palace, and no one would probably see him unless he's part of a Noble family or works in the palace.
All everyone knew was that he was handsome and had white hair, and now a white haired boy was currently in the academy.
It was like for a moment time stopped as all the females were staring at Roman, Roman knew they were going to stare at him, but not like this, all eyes in the academy were on him.
The first question on everyone's mind was, why is a male in the academy, and the second one was, is that the S-rank male?
Roman immediately turned towards the path leading inside the academy, where he saw the rest of the students going, and he began walking forward.
It was after he started walking time began moving in the academy again as all the students also began walking forward.
The academy was beautiful and well-decorated. Roman was busy looking around as he walked forward; any time he passed a female, she first had to stop and realize that it was a male who passed her.
Roman walked forward till he reached a smaller gate, and after passing through the gate, he saw a large building. All the other students were going in and simply followed them.
Roman stepped into the building and, inside, looked a little bigger. Roman couldn't count the chairs with his eyes alone; there were hundreds, most of them were empty, and like everyone, Roman walked to the front.
Most of the rows of chairs were filled, and Roman picked a new row at the back and sat close to the wall so people wouldn't notice him, since it was getting too crowded.
It was just that surprising that a male was actually in the academy.
Roman closed his eyes and put his head down. He had looked around, and he wasn't the only one with white hair; he spotted at least two females with white hair.
Soon, Roman heard a sound as someone sat down next to him.
"Are you okay?" The person asked.
"I'm fine," Roman replied in a low voice.
"Are you nervous? I'm very nervous...even though I awakened an A-rank ability, I still don't think I'm strong enough, though through training I'll be more powerful, I can't wait for training, I'm nervous and anxious, hahaha" The girl spoke.
Roman raised his head up and looked at the girl; she had green hair, the first he had ever seen, and she was beautiful.
"Huh! Wait... you're a male!!" She spoke, but Roman quickly shut her up.
"Yes, I'm a male."
"How are you a male?" She asked.
"What kind of question is that? How am I a male?" Roman replied.
"I mean...males aren't allowed in the academy, who let you in, you're not supposed to be here," she spoke.
"Males aren't allowed in. Who told you that?"
"I don't need to be told, you can't...white hair, are you the S-rank male?" She asked with her lips curving into a smile.
Roman was lucky the row in front of him and behind him was empty; he purposely picked a row further back, but this girl just left all the other rows and sat beside him.
"You can stop pretending now, I'm pretty sure you knew I was a male before sitting down," Roman spoke, and she smiled.
"My act was quite good, of course I knew...I was watching you and I waited for a while so you wouldn't suspect," She muttered.
"So..."
"Don't worry, I just wanted to talk to you. I want us to be friends," she spoke.
'She's bold, unlike the rest of the girls who are usually shy when talking to a male, but I'm pretty sure she belongs to a noble family and she's here to become friends with me because I'm an S-rank male, I really don't mind though'
"Friends...so which family are you from?" Roman asked.
"Family?"
"Just spill, I'm definitely going to find out later, so just tell me."
"EverHeart... I'm Mira EverHeart," she replied.
"I'm Roman, nice to meet you," Roman said as he extended his hand, and she grabbed it immediately.
"You're nicer than I thought. I know we just became friends now, but why are you in the academy? I'm sure you can enjoy yourself in the palace, the academy..."
"Why are you in the academy?" Roman cut her off.
"Well... because I'm required to be here, and I want to make my family proud and their name known," Mira spoke.
"I'm here because I like magic and I want to learn magic, simple."
"I'm a summoner, I heard you are an elemental mage, I would have loved to be an elemental mage."
"You don't think summoning is good?" This man asked.
"It's a lot of work, and you'll need to learn lots of binding spells, and also different things, as an A-rank summoner, I'll need to train hard before I can get my first summon, and you can't be helped...I heard a case of a summoner dying in the academy."
"Dying!!"
"Yes, if you aren't ready and mistakenly summon a creature stronger than you, it's over, unless you cancel the summoning and if you do, you won't be able to summon that creature again in your life, I think she did it on her own without any supervision and was found dead"
'Damn, looks like I was right about summoning, with me being an SSS-Rank, I have to be strong enough to face an S-rank beast before trying to summon'
