SSS Level Talent :This Assasin Is Bit Strong

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Outside the City

Half an hour after boarding the school buses, the convoy of new job-changers arrived at the northern gate of Tianhai City.

The sprawling wall towered above them, casting long shadows as the morning sun rose higher. Excitement buzzed in the air—today marked the beginning of their first real challenge.

The school had already submitted all necessary documentation to the City Lord's office. The government had designated a thirty-mile radius outside the North Gate as the student training zone for the next month.

The area was a plain dotted with hills and streams, populated mostly by Level 1 to Level 20 monsters, ideal for beginners.

The closer to the city, the lower the monster level, making the perimeter perfect for job-changers just starting out. It was the ideal balance between safety and growth opportunity.

As the buses stopped, teachers stepped forward and presented documents personally approved by the City Lord. After a brief inspection, the gates opened, and the students were allowed to pass through.

The group walked into the wilderness, their boots crunching against grass and stone.

"Is this… the wild zone?" someone whispered, their voice filled with awe.

"Look! Slimes! There's a whole bunch over there!"

"They're kind of… cute when they wiggle like that!"

The students had never been outside the city before—not like this. Until their profession awakening, they were forbidden from venturing beyond the walls. Monsters, even weak ones, could easily kill an ordinary human. Not only were they dangerous, but ordinary weapons were useless against them. Only those who had changed jobs could deal meaningful damage.

This was the first time these students were stepping into the unknown, fully equipped and ready to grow stronger.

"Students, it's time for free exploration and training!"

One of the instructors stood at the front of the group. He casually walked over to a nearby slime and, with a flick of his sword, instantly killed it with a single strike.

"See? Low-level monsters like this are easy prey. Now it's your turn."

He smiled and motioned toward the open plains. "Go. Fight. Learn. But don't be reckless."

Teachers weren't here to carry students through the leveling process—they were here as guards. Their role was to watch from a distance, ready to step in if someone tried to bite off more than they could chew.

This wasn't a game where you respawned at the last checkpoint. If a student was killed by a monster and didn't have a resurrection item… they were gone forever.

And resurrection items weren't cheap. Most students couldn't afford them. Some came from wealthy families who had the foresight to invest in one, but for the majority… they had one life to live.

The teachers knew this. That's why they gave the students some freedom, but stayed alert in case anyone got in over their head.

Soon, over three hundred students scattered across the grassy plains, breaking off into small groups.

It was finally time to grow stronger.

"Alright, let's go level up," Lucas said with a smile, turning to his best friend.

The moment the teachers gave the signal, he opened his attribute panel and equipped his full Shadow Assassin set. In an instant, his appearance changed—dark, sleek armor with glowing trim. The hood pulled low over his face gave him an air of mystery and danger.

"Whoa! That's the Shadow Assassin outfit?!" a nearby student gasped.

"It's a full set too! And not basic gear either… that looks high quality!"

"Must be loaded…"

"No way. He's an S-Level Talent! That's school-issued gear. I heard it's purple rarity!"

The crowd's eyes locked on Lucas. Most students were still using whiteboard gear—low-quality items with barely any stats. Many didn't even have full sets yet. A single Level 1 armor piece could cost over a thousand yuan. Even those were in high demand this time of year.

Lucas turned his daggers in his hands, smiling at how comfortable they felt.

Maybe it was part of his class bonus, but his movements were fluid—like the daggers were an extension of his own limbs.

He chuckled. "Guess being an assassin suits me."

Meanwhile, Mason stepped forward and equipped his own gear.

Suddenly, the chubby boy transformed into a mini tank—gleaming armor, oversized hammer, a true warrior's image. The crowd turned to look again, this time with just as much awe.

"Dang! Mason's gear is amazing too!"

"Well, his grandpa is a legendary Blacksmith, right? An S-Level craftsman!"

"Figures. That's some serious gear."

The full set was a personal gift from Mason's grandfather. The quality was stunning—two purple-grade items, four blue-grade pieces, and a two-star hammer that practically radiated brute force.

These two friends were easily the most impressive-looking team on the field.

"Alright!" Lucas grinned. "Today is the day the Assassin King begins his legend!"

He raised a dagger dramatically, full of fire and energy.

He turned to Mason, expecting a laugh or a smart remark.

But…

Mason didn't move.

In fact, he looked hesitant, even nervous.

Lucas tilted his head. "What's up?"

He had just sent a team request, but Mason didn't accept. That was strange.

"…Lucas," Mason said slowly, gripping his massive hammer tightly. "I've been thinking. I… I think I want to level up alone."

Lucas blinked. "…Huh?"

It didn't make sense. They had made plans, talked about this, prepared together.

"I'm serious," Mason continued. "You're S-Level Talent. Hidden combat class. In a month, you'll probably get accepted into Kyoto University."

He took a breath. "But I'm just a B-Level Talent. I can't even meet the basic requirements."

Lucas frowned. "So what?"

"If I team up with you, I might slow you down. You might miss out on Kyoto because you're babysitting me."

Mason looked down. "And even if I reach Level 20, I still won't qualify. You will. So I'd rather not be the reason you don't make it."

Lucas stared at his best friend.

"…You really thought all this through, huh?"

"I did," Mason said, nodding. "And I want to see you succeed. You deserve it."

He added with a crooked grin, "If you do get in, I'll brag to everyone that my best friend made it to Kyoto. That'll be enough for me."

Lucas was quiet for a second, then…

He smacked his thigh with one hand.

"Bro. Seriously?"

He marched up to Mason, grabbed his shoulder, and said, "You think you're holding me back? Dude, you're just the cool accessory I carry along!"

He grinned wider. "See this leg? It's thick and stable. You're not even a burden. You're a toe hair!"

Mason opened his mouth, stunned… then laughed, hard.

"You're ridiculous."

"I'm also right," Lucas said. "I'm stronger than anyone here. You're not slowing me down. You're coming with me."

Mason's throat tightened.

"…You mean that?"

"Of course," Lucas said, flashing a smile. "We're gonna crush this leveling thing, together. And who says B-Level guys can't go to top universities? If we play it smart, you'll be right there next to me."

Mason wiped his eyes. "You better not regret this."

"I won't," Lucas replied confidently. "Just hold onto my shadow and get ready to soar."

And just like that, the legendary duo was back.

They shared a fist bump and headed off into the plains.

Behind them, classmates whispered and watched.

Unaware that they were witnessing the beginning of something unforgettable.
