Chapter 94: Eight Spider Lances Fully Fused and Evolved
"What the hell is going on?"
Su Mo, observing through Bibi Dong's perspective, was stunned to see all nine of Dugu Bo's spirit rings explode.
"Did he train in the Clear Sky Clan's ring-detonation technique or something?"
Su Mo muttered to himself in disbelief but continued watching.
Of course, it was just a joke. Su Mo knew that Dugu Bo's situation was entirely different from Tang Hao's ring-detonation technique.
Tang Hao's ring-detonation involved concentrating the power of his rings into his hand, detonating them, and reforming golden rings behind him.
Dugu Bo's rings, however, were disintegrating and dissipating entirely.
Su Mo might not have been able to see the details clearly, but Bibi Dong, who was standing right in front of Dugu Bo, could clearly sense his spirit power rapidly declining as his rings disintegrated.
Within moments, Dugu Bo's spirit power had dropped to around Rank 60 and was still falling.
Yet, as his spirit power decreased, his complexion turned increasingly rosy, no longer carrying the purplish-blue tint that had previously marked him as deeply poisoned.
Bang—
Dugu Bo collapsed to the ground again, unconscious, showing no signs of waking up.
"Su Mo, come in. Dugu Bo is no longer a threat to you," Bibi Dong called out.
Hearing this, Su Mo didn't hesitate. In a flash, he moved into the toxic zone.
With the Eight Spider Lances protecting him and a layer of soul power coating his body, Su Mo quickly traversed the poisonous area and entered the hidden cave.
"Rakshasa Sister, what's wrong with Dugu Bo?"
Su Mo, still cautious, held his Soul Hunting Crossbow aimed at Dugu Bo as he approached.
Despite Bibi Dong's assurance that Dugu Bo was no longer a threat, Su Mo believed in being careful.
"He's finished," Bibi Dong replied coolly. "His spirit rings have completely disintegrated, and his spirit power has dropped to Rank 40.
"Without spirit rings or spirit abilities, even if he wakes up, he won't be a match for you.
"His remaining spirit power is insufficient to activate the spirit bone skill from his head spirit bone.
"And with his poison entirely gone, he's no longer anything more than a useless man."
Although Bibi Dong didn't know why Dugu Bo had ended up in this state, she could clearly assess his current condition.
"In any case, don't worry about his situation. Just kill him now!"
"In the future at Jialing Pass, he poisoned tens of thousands of people to death," Bibi Dong said coldly, her gaze icy as she looked at the unconscious Dugu Bo.
She hadn't forgotten what Dugu Bo would do in the future.
However, despite Bibi Dong's words, Su Mo didn't immediately strike the fatal blow.
If Dugu Bo still posed a threat to him, Su Mo wouldn't have hesitated to kill him.
But seeing that Dugu Bo was no longer a danger, Su Mo wasn't in a hurry to act.
As for the massacre Bibi Dong mentioned, Su Mo didn't think it was as big an issue. War was war, and killing enemy soldiers was part of it. The subsequent uncontrollable spread of poison wasn't entirely Dugu Bo's fault.
In the original storyline, Dugu Bo had shown himself to be a man of loyalty and integrity.
Because Prince Xue Xing had once helped him, Dugu Bo remained loyal to Xue Xing and Prince Xue Beng.
When Tang San cured his poison, Dugu Bo repaid him by supporting Tang San wholeheartedly.
If anyone in the early story provided Tang San with the most help, Su Mo thought it had to be Dugu Bo.
It was Dugu Bo who introduced Tang San to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, where the immortal herbs laid the foundation for the Shrek Seven Devils to ascend to godhood.
Yet, for all his loyalty and contributions, Dugu Bo seemed to gain little in return.
A man who reached Titled Douluo on his own clearly had immense talent, yet he wasn't given a chance to ascend to godhood.
The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, which Dugu Bo discovered, was outright claimed by Tang San. Even if Dugu Bo had died, it should have passed to his granddaughter, Dugu Yan—not Tang San.
Yet, the reality was that Tang San occupied it for years without dispute.
Moreover, Dugu Bo's granddaughter Dugu Yan didn't gain anything significant in return.
Tang San merely taught Dugu Bo a way to suppress his poison, but even without Tang San's help, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well could have achieved the same result. Dugu Bo just needed to stop cultivating poison techniques and focus on managing the toxins within himself.
He could have used the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well's unique environment to suppress his poison and even help Dugu Yan achieve the same.
And according to some accounts Su Mo had come across, Dugu Yan was even shunned by others in the future because of her association with her grandfather's war crimes. This supposedly even prevented her from marrying Yu Tianheng.
Now, looking at Dugu Bo's current state, his poisonous abilities destroyed, his rank reduced to 40, and once again, it seemed to be tied to Tang San.
Reflecting on everything he'd learned about Dugu Bo through various sources, Su Mo couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the man.
It all felt terribly unfair.
And now? Dugu Bo was a shadow of his former self—poison gone, power diminished.
It seemed fate wasn't done punishing him yet.
"Part of this is definitely due to my interference," Su Mo muttered, "but ultimately, it was Tang Hao who injured Dugu Bo."
"Dugu Bo's condition is likely because he consumed an antidotal immortal herb that completely purged the poison from his body. His poison cultivation essentially was his strength. Now that his poison is gone, his spirit rings have disintegrated, and his spirit power has dropped."
"But since he did consume an immortal herb, Rakshasa Sister, do you think he can reabsorb spirit rings?"
Su Mo refrained from directly killing Dugu Bo and instead posed his question to Bibi Dong, more out of curiosity than expectation, as he knew she was unfamiliar with immortal herbs.
If Dugu Bo could reabsorb spirit rings like Tang San, Su Mo thought it would be amusing.
"If Dugu Bo manages to start cultivating again, he probably wouldn't be weak," Su Mo mused.
"What are you planning to do?" Bibi Dong asked, skipping over the herb-related speculation.
"I plan to make Dugu Bo think I saved him. What happens after that will depend on the situation," Su Mo replied, his gaze shifting to a small, deep-green bead nearby.
Su Mo recognized it as Dugu Bo's poison bead, a product of his poison cultivation. Dugu Bo had once mentioned that half his poison power was stored within that bead.
To Su Mo, this poison bead was a treasure. His Eight Spider Lances could absorb it, likely triggering an evolution. The evolved Eight Spider Lances would carry the Green Phosphorus Snake Emperor's poison, making them far deadlier.
This would be key to convincing Dugu Bo that Su Mo had used the Eight Spider Lances to cleanse his poison, thus "saving" him.
"I never planned to make Dugu Bo my subordinate," Su Mo said. "That's unrealistic. He was a Titled Douluo and far too proud. Asking him to be a subordinate might just provoke him."
"I just need him not to cause me trouble."
"Since you're confident, go ahead with your plan," Bibi Dong agreed after a moment of thought, her eyes gleaming.
Her reasoning differed from Su Mo's. She saw Dugu Bo's downfall as a direct result of Tang Hao and Tang San. If Dugu Bo could rebuild his cultivation, with his physical qualities, his first spirit ring might even exceed 10,000 years. Such a reborn Dugu Bo would be formidable.
Dugu Bo might seek revenge against Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Clan, or even Tang San himself after discovering his identity. That could only benefit Bibi Dong.
"Alright, but first, I'll tie him up," Su Mo said, pulling a rope from his storage soul tool and binding Dugu Bo securely.
He also removed Dugu Bo's Hundred Treasure Pouch, deciding to use it to collect immortal herbs himself. If Dugu Bo woke, Su Mo would claim it as "payment" for saving him.
Thud-thud-thud—
With preparations complete, Su Mo summoned the Eight Spider Lances and pierced the poison bead with one of the spider legs.
Buzz—
A surge of highly toxic energy flowed from the bead into the Eight Spider Lances, which eagerly absorbed it.
Despite the bead's small size, its energy was potent. Before long, Su Mo felt the Eight Spider Lances struggle to absorb more.
Crack-crack—
At the same time, Su Mo felt the Eight Spider Lances begin to evolve. The spider legs twisted and reshaped, their color shifting from purple to a vivid green.
"Ahhh…"
The evolution was excruciating, like his very bones were being reshaped. Su Mo couldn't help but cry out in pain.
Crack-crack—
Fortunately, the pain was fleeting. Once the evolution completed, Su Mo felt a surge of vitality and power.
Looking at his Eight Spider Lances, he noticed that not only had their color changed, but the spider legs had also grown longer and thicker.
"Have the Eight Spider Lances fully fused with me?"
Through Bibi Dong's perspective, Su Mo observed that the Eight Spider Lances, which had previously been externally attached to his spine, had now completely integrated into his skeletal structure.
This signified the complete fusion of the Eight Spider Lances with his body.
