Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Truth Beneath the Stars

The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the quiet streets of Musutafu. In the Midoriya household, the sounds of laughter and playful shouts echoed through the open windows, a stark contrast to the serious conversation taking place inside.

Izuku, at four years old, was not like the other children in his neighborhood. While his peers were already showing signs of having powerful Quirks, Izuku's lack of one was becoming more apparent by the day. His friends often joked about their powers—fire breath, super strength, lightning speed—while Izuku could barely muster the strength to lift a heavy box. But it wasn't the physical strength that bothered him; it was the way others looked at him. The whispers when he walked by. The way the other kids didn't want him around because he didn't have a Quirk to share.

"Mom! Look!" Izuku said excitedly, tugging at Inko's sleeve. "I tried really hard this time! I thought about being fast, like the kid next door! But nothing happened!"

Inko smiled, her heart aching at the sight of her son's hopeful face. She knelt down, brushing a strand of hair away from his forehead. "Izuku, you're a special boy. You don't need a Quirk to be great."

"But, Mom... What if I'm not special?" Izuku's voice trembled slightly, as if the weight of the question had been sitting in his chest for longer than he realized. "Everyone else has something cool, something that makes them different. What do I have?"

Inko's eyes softened with a mix of sadness and resolve. She glanced at Alex, who had been watching from the other side of the room, his expression unreadable. It was time. She knew this conversation would come sooner or later, and even though Izuku was still so young, the truth had to be shared.

Alex had never doubted Izuku. The boy had something far greater than any Quirk—an unbreakable will and a heart of gold. But even so, he had his own way of approaching things, often giving Inko the space to guide their son in ways only a mother could.

"Come sit with us, Izuku," Alex said gently, his voice calm but warm, like the steady pulse of a heartbeat. Izuku turned to him, unsure but obedient, his small feet carrying him to the spot next to Alex on the couch.

Izuku climbed onto the couch beside Alex, looking up at him with those wide, trusting eyes. He wasn't entirely sure what was happening, but he knew that whatever it was, he would be okay as long as Alex was by his side.

Alex smiled at him, a gesture full of warmth and quiet understanding. "Izuku, I know you're worried about not having a Quirk. But I want you to understand something—having a Quirk doesn't make you who you are."

Inko nodded, her heart swelling with pride for both of them. "Exactly. What matters is your heart. It's your will, your determination, your kindness. These things are what make you special, not a power that you're born with."

Izuku's eyes wavered, confusion and hope flickering across his small face. "But... how can I be a hero if I don't have a Quirk? I want to help people... like the heroes on TV."

Alex's eyes softened. He could see how much Izuku yearned for something more, something to prove to himself and the world that he was capable, despite the absence of a Quirk. But Alex also knew that the road Izuku would walk wouldn't be like the others. It would be his own journey.

"You don't need a Quirk to be a hero," Alex said quietly, placing a hand on Izuku's shoulder. "A real hero is someone who stands up for what's right, who fights for others even when things seem impossible. And I believe that you, Izuku, have the potential to be an incredible hero."

"But... how?" Izuku asked, his voice small, unsure if he was being told the truth. "I'm just me."

Alex smiled at the boy's simplicity. "You're more than just 'you,' Izuku. You have a strength within you that's far greater than any Quirk. You just have to find it."

Inko placed her hand on Izuku's other shoulder, her voice gentle but firm. "We believe in you, Izuku. We always will. You have a light in your heart that no one can take away."

For a moment, there was silence. Inko and Alex exchanged a look, an unspoken understanding passing between them. This was only the beginning, but it was important. They had to show Izuku that he was enough, just as he was.

Alex leaned forward, his tone shifting to something more serious, yet still kind. "Izuku, I need to tell you something important. I think you're old enough to understand."

Izuku tilted his head, his curiosity piqued. "What is it, big bro?"

Alex took a deep breath. "There's something special about you, Izuku. Something I haven't told you about before. But it's time for you to know the truth."

Izuku's eyes widened in anticipation. Inko gave Alex a subtle nod, a sign of encouragement.

"Izuku, you see," Alex began slowly, carefully, "I wasn't always... well, I wasn't always your brother. In my past life, I was a different person, someone with powers far beyond what anyone here could imagine."

Izuku blinked, processing the strange words. "Powers?"

Alex nodded. "Yes, powers. But not the kind of powers you might be used to hearing about. I was a protector, someone who kept the world safe from dangers no one else could even see. And I learned a lot about strength—real strength—not the kind you're born with, but the kind you can grow."

Inko glanced at Alex, her heart swelling. She could see the same warmth and protective energy in Alex as he spoke about his past, as though every word came from the deepest place in his heart.

"I learned from many people, Izuku. From someone called Doctor Strange, who was once the protector of the multiverse, and from another who guided him—the Ancient One. I've inherited their knowledge, their abilities. And with that, I've chosen to protect this world. To protect you, Izuku."

Izuku's eyes were wide with disbelief, and for a moment, he was silent, letting the information sink in. The world he lived in had always seemed so simple, yet now everything was changing.

"But... why?" Izuku whispered. "Why me? Why are you... helping me?"

Alex smiled, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. "Because you're my brother. And family always helps each other. You may not have a Quirk, but you have something even more important—your heart. And I will make sure that you never lose that."

Inko placed her hand on Izuku's head, brushing his hair affectionately. "We will always be here for you, Izuku. No matter what."

Izuku felt a rush of warmth flood through him. He didn't fully understand what Alex had said, but he understood the love in their voices, the certainty that they would always be by his side. Maybe he didn't have a Quirk, but he had something far more important—he had his family.

With a shy smile, Izuku looked up at Alex. "Thank you, big bro."

Alex ruffled his hair, chuckling softly. "You're welcome, little hero."
