Chapter 2: Volume 1, Chapter 2 "The Snow Mountain Demon"
Turning around, David was stunned. Horror appeared on his face — the realization that the demon he was going to fight would be…
The Snow Mountain Demon.
The demon who revealed himself was about three meters tall. His fur was white, and in some places he had huge scars. His long arms were disproportionate to his body, and the claws looked to be about forty centimeters in size.
He also had huge wings. But he had no eyes.
Realizing this, David was horrified, thinking to himself:
> "He is — the Snow Mountain Demon. Approximately mid-level…"
Despite being blind and not studying like the other children, David was quite clever and eavesdropped on the teachers at the schools who explained the hierarchy of demons. They were divided:
Into low, semi-middle, middle, semi-high, and high levels. Also, devils who could control those weaker than themselves.
And before David appeared one of the demons of the middle level.
Suddenly, David's head began to prick with pain. Grabbing his head, he closed his eyes. Opening them again, he saw a person walking ahead of him. Looking around, on his right were horses, and above them — people.
And on the left — the same. Looking at his hands, he saw that he was in chains.
> "Am I… in chains?.."
Stopping, David wanted to do something, but suddenly someone hit him from behind.
A sharp pain pierced David's back. Falling to one knee, only a hoarse voice of pain escaped from David's mouth. Turning around, he felt a person:
"Puppy, why are you standing?! Did anyone give you permission to stand?!" — shouted a man about forty years old. He was dressed in a brown soldier's armor.
"Get up now!"
Barely getting up, David thought angrily to himself:
> "You will be the first one I kill…"
Suddenly, a handsome guy with yellow hair like the sun itself and blue eyes, as if you could drown in them like in the ocean, approached the man.
"Please, General, don't beat the slave like that. He won't be able to continue like this. Maybe we should make a halt so the slaves can rest?"
The man, looking at him angrily, said:
"Rayhan, it seems you don't understand… Here I am the general, not you. So I will decide when there will be a halt. Not you, understand me?"
Rayhan, looking at him, could not answer anything. Gritting his teeth, he turned away and said:
"Alright."
David heard their entire conversation and mockingly thought to himself:
> "Ha… What a kind one. But kindness is not always good. Behind a kind face there can always hide a hypocritical nature…"
At that time, as David and the slave caravan climbed the mountains, the sun was slowly setting, illuminating the place with moonlight. Meanwhile, David was incredibly exhausted, and because he was hit with a whip, it was difficult for him to walk — blood flowed from his back.
He saw some slaves who could not cope and who lost consciousness or died — they were unchained and thrown down the mountain.
At some point, David even felt sorry for them. But he quickly came to himself, thinking that he could perish here too.
And then two more hours passed, and the sun set. The slave caravan stopped.
"General: Everyone listen to my order! Set up camp, chop firewood for the fire, and give water and food to the slaves!"
Hearing the general's order, everyone began to do their tasks. And finally, a fire was made. Strong slaves were in front, and the weak, who could not resist the strong, were at the back — including David. It was hard for him.
Suddenly, Rayhan approached him.
"Hey, boy, here, take this," — handing bread, water, and also a sheet, he gave them to David.
David thought to himself:
> "Ha, what a bastard. You know that if you give it to me, other slaves might even kill me. What a hypocrite you are…"
At the same time, David took everything except the sheet and said:
"I don't want it, thanks."
At that moment, a smile flickered on Rayhan's face:
"Alright."
Soon, after eating and resting, David felt danger — thanks to his ability "Sense with Darkness."
Looking up, he saw nothing, only a cold wind blowing straight into his reddened face. Suddenly, a hail of icy fragments fell from above. Several slaves died instantly from the blow, and several knights were injured.
"Raise the alarm!" — they began to shout. "We are under attack! I repeat — we are under attack!"
Everyone ran out of the tents and saw that one of their soldiers was bleeding on the ground.
Everyone formed a defensive circle and began to defend.
Suddenly, a huge chunk of ice fell on David, but he successfully avoided it — thanks to his ability.
Looking at how the slaves couldn't stay in place because of panic, David was angry. Because he was chained to them, they began to drag him in another direction. David was physically weak and couldn't do anything.
Seeing a tree, David tensed and stood with all his might. Turning around the tree, due to the genetic strength, the slave in front who was dragging him fell to the ground and hit his head on a stone — and died on the spot. Coming to his senses, David looked around.
The icy hail ended.
"Knight: Is that all?"
Saying this, the Snow Mountain Demon fell from the sky to them.
Spreading his wings, he growled. Seeing this, the knights were shocked:
"This is… the Snow Mountain Demon?
