Someone to Chase...

Chapter 62: Chapter 24: The Big Night Out - A Party to Remember

The air was filled with excitement as Fukura High's soccer team, along with Rika's team, geared up for a night out on the town. After weeks of exhausting training and intense matches, they all felt they deserved a break. The group, now a mishmash of teammates from different schools, walked through the neon-lit streets of the city. The sounds of laughter and chatter were punctuated by the occasional honk of a car as they approached their destination—a local party venue that was buzzing with life.

Shun, still not fully accustomed to the whole party atmosphere, took a deep breath. "This is going to be weird," he muttered, glancing at his teammates. They were all laughing and chatting, oblivious to his nerves.

Renji, ever the extrovert, threw an arm around Shun's shoulder. "Come on, dude! Tonight is all about fun. No soccer, no stress. Just... having a blast!"

They entered the venue, and it was like stepping into another world. Bright lights flashed, the music blasted through the speakers, and the smell of popcorn and snacks hung in the air. The atmosphere was a far cry from the soccer field—this was a full-on party, and everyone was ready to make the most of it.

Renji immediately spotted the dance floor, where a crowd of people were showing off their moves, and his eyes lit up. "Shun! We gotta dance!" he yelled, dragging Shun toward the crowd.

"W-what?" Shun stammered, clearly uncomfortable. "I'm not a dancer!"

But Renji was already pulling him onto the floor. The music was thumping, and the group was already getting into it. Shun found himself awkwardly bobbing up and down, trying to match the rhythm but looking completely out of place.

Meanwhile, Rika was leaning against a table, watching the scene unfold. Her gaze was caught by Shun, who looked like a deer caught in headlights, swaying as stiffly as a cardboard cutout. She couldn't help but let out a snort. "What is he doing?" she muttered to herself, amused.

"Is he... dancing?" Mika, one of Rika's teammates, asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes," Rika replied dryly, "but it's more like a survival tactic."

The group watched as Renji attempted to teach Shun how to dance, only to have him fail miserably, tripping over his own feet. The sight was so hilarious that it caused Rika to laugh out loud. She grabbed a drink from the counter and leaned toward Mika. "He's hopeless, but it's kind of cute."

Mika smirked. "Oh? You think so?"

Before Rika could respond, a teammate shoved a microphone into her hands. "Your turn, Rika! Time to show everyone what you've got!"

"What?" Rika blinked in shock. "I can't sing!"

"Yes, you can!" her teammate insisted, pushing her toward the karaoke stage.

Reluctantly, Rika grabbed the microphone. She shot a look toward Shun, who was still awkwardly moving to the beat, and sighed. "I can't believe I'm doing this."

The music started, and Rika hesitated for a second before reluctantly singing the opening lines. Her voice was... not bad, but it wasn't exactly what you'd call musical genius. She was off-key, and every note she hit was either too high or too low. But it was all part of the fun, and before long, her teammates were cheering her on.

"Rika, you're killing it!" Kazama shouted from the back, clearly amused.

Rika gave him a sharp look. "This is the worst thing I've ever done in my life."

But the more she sang, the more she started to embrace the ridiculousness of it all. She was so off-pitch that even her teammates couldn't stop laughing. By the time the song ended, Rika was flushed with embarrassment, but the group's laughter and cheers filled the air.

Shun, watching the spectacle from the sidelines, couldn't help but smile. It was rare to see Rika let loose like this, and in her awkwardness, there was something... endearing. His heart gave a strange little flutter. She's fun when she's not so serious, he thought, though he quickly dismissed the thought.
