Chapter 512: Chapter 511: Solving the Problem vs. Solving the One Who Raised It
Wakanda possessed nearly a thousand years of technological advancement over the rest of the world. Its infrastructure was impeccable, and yet, it faced a fatal issue—population.
Even if every citizen joined the research and production teams, it still wouldn't be enough to meet the growing demands of the Eternal City's large-scale design and manufacturing projects.
The Quinjet needed modifications.
The Helicarriers needed modifications.
The supersonic Quinjet needed modifications.
Weapons and firearms needed modifications.
Everything required engineers and workers. Even the most secretive biological laboratories had outsourced projects. Under Solomon's relentless spending, pharmaceutical companies and physics labs were working overtime just to complete minor, peripheral assignments.
But sometimes, a handful of geniuses could solve problems that an army of researchers couldn't.
After discussing with Solomon, Shuri decided to implement a modular design approach—recording all design blueprints into a database, allowing components to be combined as needed, with Shuri making final adjustments.
Then combine again, modify again, and continuously update the database with new designs.
Using computational power to drive product development would significantly reduce human workload while maximizing creative potential.
Of course, this system was only applicable to mechanical engineering. The chaotic nature of biological research made it impossible to integrate into the database.
For instance, the portable heating device used on this Antarctic expedition had come from this system.
It was a design created two hundred years ago by a White Gorilla Tribe scientist who had studied under the Black Panther Tribe. No one would have known about this ancient solution if Shuri hadn't uploaded the blueprints into the database.
The anti-gravity snowmobile was originally a scaled-down version of the Royal Guard's anti-gravity transport, modified to reduce cost while maintaining functionality.
Even the base itself was built using prefabricated housing units commonly used by Wakandans when relocating. These could be deployed in record time.
With a Vibranium power source, solar panels, and synchronized satellite coverage, the research team could even watch TV if they wanted.
However, production capacity remained an issue.
Wakanda was a small nation with no need for mass-producing high-tech products.
But King T'Chaka saw what was coming.
He had already authorized new production lines to start operations—positioning Wakanda to secure its place in the international system before officially opening its borders.
Some technologies, however, could never be allowed to leak.
For example, the pico-scale photolithography machines—technology so advanced that it outright defied the laws of macroscopic physics.
These machines were on par with Vibranium in strategic importance.
They didn't create transistors—Solomon didn't even want to know how far Wakanda had pushed quantum science.
Sometimes, he felt like this universe was just insanely ridiculous.
How the hell did they even make something like that?!
Then he thought of Stark.
Alright. Fine. The universe was stupidly advanced. No point questioning it.
Now, Wakandan aircraft equipped with high-resolution scanners were en route to Shuri's designated site for further exploration.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team stayed at the temporary base, with nothing to do—except for Solomon, who was still dead asleep, jet-lagged from shifting between too many time zones.
He desperately needed this rest.
Oxford required him to write a paper for every class he attended.
Even during the holidays, he had to publish a set number of papers while working at Jane Foster's research institute.
And if that wasn't enough, there was still a mountain of work waiting for him in the Eternal City.
Victoria Hand was currently fighting Coulson's team over Marcus Daniels—the target Solomon had specifically requested.
He had no idea what kind of conflict was about to unfold between the two factions, nor did he care.
He and Stephanie had already cleared all bureaucratic obstacles for Hand's department.
All he needed to do was issue an order, and Hand would get it done.
Officially, the special ops unit's mission was to hunt down Hydra fugitives.
But their real objective was to carry out Solomon's commands.
Right now, Coulson was mistakenly classified as Hydra.
That gave Stephanie the perfect excuse to target him—allowing Hand to capture the real Hydra agent: Grant Ward.
Unfortunately, Solomon's sleep was rudely interrupted by the ringing of a Wakandan satellite phone.
Frowning, he answered.
After listening for a few moments, he hung up.
"What happened?"
Shuri's voice cut through his groggy haze.
Her eyes were bloodshot.
While Solomon had been sleeping, she had been analyzing the glacier scans, trying to determine where the meteorite had landed.
Before setting out, Solomon had attempted divination by consulting elemental lords of water and earth.
It had been a painful experience.
The mental strain had caused temporary damage to his cognitive functions.
And the answers he received were vague, limited to cryptic phrases and single words.
Some elementals were honest and admitted they didn't know.
Some lied.
And some just made things up to mess with him.
Filtering out the truth required high intelligence.
If he wanted a definitive answer, he would have to ask Vishanti directly.
But the magical price was far too high.
It would drop his intelligence to that of an average person (IQ 8) for 35 days.
Not a chance in hell he was going through that.
"Hand says there's a problem on-site. She'll send me a full report."
Solomon muttered as he buried himself deeper into the blanket, leaving only his glowing black eyes visible from Shuri's perspective.
She stared at the bundle of blankets with a pair of shiny eyes peeking out.
"What problem? And who the hell is Hand?"
"You don't know? You're the head of R&D!" Solomon looked genuinely surprised.
"I swear you signed off on it! Remember the Light Vehicle Maintenance & Priority Supply Act?!"
"Oh, you mean those parchment documents with all the fancy seals?" Shuri thought for a moment—then her voice rose in alarm.
"I thought they were just routine reports, so I just signed them! You made too many damn emblems—I can't tell them apart! I've signed a bunch of these, including something about Experimental Weapon Supply Permits!"
Solomon's head popped out from the blanket.
"The R&D emblem is a gear! The special ops unit emblem is a skull with wings!"
His static-charged hair floated as he moved.
"Do you even remember what you gave them?!"
Shuri froze.
"Just… some experimental weapons."
A beat.
Then—panic.
"But they're unstable! You need to recall them immediately!"
"What kind of experimental weapons?!"
"Plasma weapons!" Shuri blurted.
"But the thermal pressure, electrostatic forces, and magnetic fields are still unstable! There are severe issues with density gradients, external magnetic fields, and velocity-space non-uniformity!"
"In plain English?!" Solomon demanded.
Shuri hesitated.
"To compensate for nonlinear wave turbulence—uh—I may have increased the power output."
Solomon narrowed his eyes.
"How much?"
"...About as strong as a suitcase nuke."
A long silence.
"Direct kill radius—approximately 400 meters."
S.H.I.T.
Solomon frantically redialed Hand's number.
No answer.
S.H.I.T.
He grabbed his Sling Ring, tore open a portal, and—still wearing his sleepwear—jumped through.
He had thought Hand could handle this mission with nothing more than a dump truck.
Apparently, if he didn't get there immediately, Hand and Coulson were about to explode.
