Chapter 919 - Dragon King Coin
"Well... Uncle Zudi, I'm off now!"
Yilan shook her tail and prepared to bypass him, retrieving the data was the priority.
The place where important information is stored in Sky Dragon City uses offline storage, not to mention wireless signals, there isn't even an electrical wire, so there's simply no chance for remote contact. That's why Yilan had to make this trip, otherwise, it would just be one click to download and forward, without all this effort.
An adult Silver Dragon sidestepped, still blocking Yilan, unwilling to let her go.
"Wait! No! You don't have permission to access this data."
Does this little dragon not understand what it's saying?
How can such important information be casually taken away, not even glanced at?
If the other party really gets away with it, the Metallic Dragons might just die a little inside.
As the Guardian of Order for the Dragon Clan, of course, it cannot sit idly by.
"I'm going to apply for permission right now, Uncle Zudi, please move aside!"
Metallic Dragons are nothing if not cultured, Yilan was definitely the most cultured among the Metallic Dragons.
"Where are you going to apply for permission, wait, no way!"
Uncle Zudi, the adult Silver Dragon, paused, quickly reacting.
Who else could she go to?
Of course, it's the incompetent Dragon King who, if this little dragon asks, will likely agree offhandedly.
Yet with procedures being correct, self-proclaimed as the Guardian of Order and Rules, what grounds does it have to stop her, being a Silver Dragon?
This is simply a trap!
No amount of calculation could foresee that a Metallic Dragon would seriously talk about rules, shouldn't it just leap forward in disagreement and start a fight?
A good skirmish would occur, then naturally be imprisoned, the matter forgotten after some time, both parties would've moved on. That is Metallic Dragon's normal mode of conduct.
However, Yilan's response left the adult Silver Dragon at a loss, involuntarily sizing her up and down. No mistake, she is indeed a Metallic Dragon, but clearly, this script isn't right!
"Uncle Zudi, if you keep blocking me, I'll have to invoke the clauses in the 'Minor Protection Law'!"
Yilan glared at the opponent with ill-intent, the "Heritage Module" extracted related documentation and prepared to reference statutory clauses.
The Silan Dynasty's "Minor Protection Law" protects all minor individuals of the Wisdom Race, including the Dragon Clan.
Female, juvenile dragon, invoking the "Minor Protection Law" would be a disaster.
"Don't..."
Uncle Zudi, the adult Silver Dragon, quickly moved aside, not daring to defy the law, lest it becomes an epic joke of the Dragon Clan, laughed at for ten thousand years.
Clearly knowing it's unworkable, yet powerless to stop, infuriated to the point of speechlessness.
"You you you you..."
"Goodbye! Uncle Zudi!"
Yilan twisted and darted away.
Aside from the airport, in the city of Sky Dragon City, casual flying and spatial movement are prohibited, either you take public transportation or rely on your legs to run around.
This juvenile little dragon once she opens up those legs, is hard for an adult Silver Dragon to chase, this polite little rascal is truly annoying!
With brisk steps, Yilan avoided a few groups of sightseeing tours holding small flags and found an anciently styled tall stone temple, poking her head inside and loudly calling: "Hey! Is the Dragon King home?"
"Who is it? Delivery? Leave it at the door, if you want a photo, wait three hours until filming wraps up!"
In the depths of the stone temple, neatly aligned screens were setup along the wall, a huge menacing figure kept his gaze on the screens, refusing to look away.
The Dragon King's residence is unguarded, without any guards, anyone or any dragon can enter.
No need to worry about safety, it's fortunate that the Metallic Dragons are not murdering others, who would dare brazenly come to assassinate the Dragon King, especially in Sky Dragon City, the Dragon Clan's headquarters.
If such fools exist in the world, the Dragon Clan probably would excitedly hang a conspicuous banner, "Welcome to Kill!"
Yilan straightforwardly asked: "Dragon King, I'd like the information on the Gold Element Giant Dragon Core for making a super computing unit, could you authorize it to me?"
"Super computing unit? Which foolish dragon has died again?"
Amidst his busy schedule, the Dragon King finally turned around, seeing a small-bodied juvenile dragon, also among the Metallic Dragon Clan, he frowned and scolded: "Yilan! Why aren't you in school, what are you doing here?"
Yilan squeezed half her body through the temple entrance, acting innocent said: "My friend has a Gold Element Dragon Heart Core and wants to utilize it, I recommended the super computing unit but the technology information is sealed in Sky Dragon City, and needs your authorization for me to get it."
The current Dragon King of the Dragon Clan, adult Gold Element Giant Dragon Coin exclaimed in surprise: "What a lucky fellow!"
Yilan tentatively asked: "Can I go get it now?"
Just moments ago, she received a one-time access authorization key from the Dragon King, and it's for a specific project.
While usually heedless, rarely felt or presence, the Dragon King still retains all his rightful authority.
"Go on, go on, stop bothering me making money!"
After his surprise wore off, Dragon King Coin quickly lost interest again.
It doesn't care about the life or death of its kin; with the morality of the Metallic Dragons, it should be executed even if innocent, so just take it away quickly, don't delay its chance to flip its fortune.
The original name of the stock exchange was actually "Betting House", that's right, with "bet" as in casino; from the beginning, they were all rat holes. The supposed financial tools for adjusting the exchange of production materials are absolute nonsense, none of that exists.
"Thanks a lot!"
Having achieved her goal, Yilan joyfully left the Dragon King's residence.
Just a few steps out, a thunderous roar erupted from within the Stone Temple.
"Damn it, a margin call! Who the hell gave you the guts, who? Who? Stand up in front of Dragon Grandfather and see if I don't eat you...".
A clatter of bangs and crashes emanated from the hall; no telling how many screens were shattered into pieces. For Sky Dragon City, this was just a daily consumable.
Within the Dragon Clan, a not-so-secret rumor circulated that although the Dragon King Coin usually indulged in non-serious activities, he had a passion for financial speculation. He was a frequent participant in stock, financial, and forex markets, opening accounts at major exchanges on Cangqiong Star and Blue Star, waging the battle for decades, losing around tens of trillions of Star Yuan, earning him the Jianghu nickname, "Financial Biggest Fool", "Gift Money Boy", yet very few knew the owner of these losing accounts was the current Dragon King of the Dragon Clan.
Now that Sky Dragon City is open to the public, having to earn that tourist money owes a share of credit to this Dragon King.
Yilan, having obtained the authorization key, excitedly arrived at the archives only to be stopped dead in her tracks by a group of Elder Dragons.
The adult Silver Dragon Zudi could not stop the young dragon, and had to report upwards, which led to the scene of a dozen or so dragons from various clans waiting at the gate of Sky Dragon City's archives.
The Council of Elders, restructured from the original War Dragon Hall, was a special department to counterbalance the power of the Dragon King. Now, even though the Dragon King doesn't manage affairs, the Dragon Clan can maintain normal organizational operations, thanks to the Council of Elders.
In a sense, the Council of Elders took over the Dragon King's duties; according to functional rules, it indeed works.
When the division of labor between the Dragon King and the Council of Elders was established, the possibility of one party being unable to take responsibility was already considered. Now it serves its purpose well.
However, in the state of no major events occurring, managing on just one leg is not a big problem; all dragons from various clans have already become accustomed to such a state.
"You cannot enter the archives, Little Dragon!"
Although what they stopped was an ignorant young dragon, and furthermore a Metallic Dragon, the Elder Dragons' tone was gentle, not at all like reprimanding.
If it were an adult Metallic Dragon trying to knock on the door, it would probably face a thrashing, but as a juvenile dragon, Yilan of course received special treatment. After all, she's just a child.
A young dragon can afford to be ignorant, but can an adult dragon afford it too?
"I have the Dragon King's authorization!"
Yilan received permission to access technical materials.
"But you still can't go in!"
The Elder Dragon blocking her shook his head, adamantly denying entry.
Getting authorization is one thing, not allowing entry is another; the Council of Elders preemptively vetoed Yilan's qualification to enter the archives. Going back to the Dragon King wouldn't help; whoever confirms the right first gets priority, and there's no breaking this principle.
"Alright then!"
Seeing no chance at all, Yilan didn't persist and decisively retreated.
Using force wouldn't work either; it would just result in a beating.
Getting beaten for foolishness, be it dragon or dragon, there's no leniency just because one is a juvenile dragon.
Yilan hid in a remote corner of Sky Dragon City and started gathering friends, no, gathering dragons.
Half an hour later, the elder dragons guarding the Sky Dragon City archives saw a little silver dragon carrying a backpack approaching the archives.
"Oh? Kaixing, you're not at school; what brings you back to Sky Dragon City?"
Silver Dragon Kaixing has always been at the top of the class in the Dragon Breeding Garden, almost on par with another juvenile dragon, Yilan. The two juvenile dragons are frequently the top two in rankings.
The underage little dragon Kaixing obediently said, "Grandpa Xitas, Grandpa Klaister, I'm here to search for materials to prepare for lessons."
Compared to Big Sister Yilan, who was surrounded by a bunch of little followers, she was a quiet good student who never caused trouble, diligently studying and always considered by many Elder Dragons to possibly have the potential of the Dragon King one day.
"Oh, is that so? Go on in quickly!"
"Study hard, Kaixing!"
The elders didn't even check the backpack of the little silver dragon and let it through on the spot.
Several hours later, Silver Dragon Kaixing finally walked out of the archives, politely bid farewell to the Elder Dragons.
Such a good child!
It came to a certain place in Sky Dragon City alone, tapping its tail on a jagged, coarse stone wall.
"Did you get the stuff?"
In the dimly lit corner, golden dragon eyes blinked open.
"It's all here; the Artificial Intelligence AI you gave me was amazing, managed to successfully transcode and copy it in less than half an hour."
Kaixing put down a backpack, took out a box containing a small high-performance computer and storage device. With the one-time temporary access granted by the Dragon King, it successfully extracted the desired data from the archives' data storage.
The little silver dragon genuinely looked for information and prepared lessons, but it didn't necessarily have to return to Sky Dragon City to do it. This was all a cover; there was another purpose.
Come to think of it, reliance on experienced judgement can be deadly; the Elder Dragon's focus was only on intercepting Yilan, failing to guard against Kaixing.
Even the teachers at the Dragon Breeding Garden probably never imagined that these two juvenile dragons from different clans would conspire with each other, even going as far as helping each other in such matters.
