Chapter 154: Rescue

A silence remained amongst the guild members after the sudden request from Felix.

They stared at the boy who reached their shoulders and glanced at each other with clear confusion.

"I don't think we should take him with us."

"He will slow us down..."

"It's too dangerous."

Hearing their negative opinions of him joining, Felix didn't back down and revealed some of his powers.

"I promise I won't hold you back, because I have an Earth-based detection spell that'll be useful to find them. The rescue mission will be a lot quicker with my help."

Victor's eyes lit up at the mention of such a spell as he walked near to him.

"Are you telling the truth? You can do that?"

Standing behind him, the executive from the Mystic Society guild, Evan moved forward as he nodded and patted on Felix's shoulder.

"I can vouch for him. I've seen him use it during our scouting task and it proved to help us with the incoming monsters."

Felix rejoiced at the support he was getting, raising his brows at the archer who gave him a thumbs up.

Victor smiled and turned to nod at his teammates, who just shrugged for not having any qualms about a useful member joining the team.

Clapping his hand, Victor caught the attention of the people around them as he announced.

"Alright then. It's decided. Felix will be joining the rescue team along with us. That makes us an eight-member team."

After that, he went to the guild leaders to gain their permission to move out.

Meanwhile, the three boys approached Felix as they warned him to be cautious.

"I don't know why you're diving into danger, Felix.", Roven sighed with slightly red eyes.

"But always be careful out there. Stay behind the Seniors and don't get hurt."

Steve bit his lips with an obvious jealous expression as he muttered.

"You're so lucky, damnit. Even I want to go and have a battle out there."

Eric jabbed at Steve as he rebuked.

"What're you saying, Steve?! They're going there to save Miss Elsa and the others. It's not always about fights!"

Steve narrowed his eyes as he shook his head with an unimpressed face.

"Save? I think you forgot who Miss Elsa is. There's no way she needs any saving. You guys are worrying for nothing."

Roven's face brightened with a bit of hope on his face hearing Steve's rambling.

Even Eric and Felix gave a small smile as they knew Miss Elsa wasn't someone who could be easily dealt with.

"Don't worry guys. It'll be a quick run from here to there. And Miss Elsa and the others will be back here in no time."

The boys nodded at him, and then Felix felt a hand on his shoulder as he turned around.

"Ready to go?", Evan asked as he gestured towards Victor who was walking back to them.

"Yes."

Giving a last glance at his three teammates, Felix followed Evan as they gathered together with the rest of the rescue team and headed towards the nearest tunnel to the broken-down tunnel.

The rescue team was led by Victor, a Late Rank 3 Swordsman type Warrior from the Twilight Chaos guild, together with his four-man team consisting of another Mid Rank 3 Spearman type Warrior and two Rank 2 Warriors.

From the Mystic Society guild, there was the Mid Rank 3 Archer Evan and two Late Rank 2 Warrior and Mage.

At last, there was Felix, an Early Rank 1 Dual Fighter.

This was the eight-man rescue team which headed straight into the tunnel without wasting any more time.

On the other side of the broken tunnel, there was an intense battle taking place with a group of 12 going against a diverse group of 30 people.

The 12-member group was the last group from the Twilight Chaos guild and the Mystic Society guild, who were trapped in this tunnel.

Meanwhile, the group of 30 people were just one of the many search teams from the 6 guilds alliance.

The larger group seemed to be laid back in their fight as they merely snarled and teased at their opponents without any sign of going all out.

However, tension filled the air among the 12 members, their expressions heavy with seriousness.

"This can't go on. We have to find a way to escape....", a Rank 2 Warrior muttered in exhaustion.

Elsa, who was casting her Ice Attribute spells one after the other without stopping turned around to look at her companions.

"Hold on, everyone. The reinforcements from the guilds will arrive in a few minutes.", she said in hopes of raising their morals.

Her words didn't bring them any joy, as they knew their opponents were not even taking them seriously, because if they did, they wouldn't survive.

Elsa frowned as she looked at the people attacking them, who mainly used long-distance spells to slowly reduce their energy and mana reserves.

'If everyone gets exhausted here, then we'll get captured and taken by them as hostages. That is worse than us dying in this guild wars.'

Her eyes narrowed as she bit her lips in resolve.

'I must do something.....before it's too late.'

Elsa moved forward while blocking the incoming attacks, gaining everyone's attention.

Her companions were confused by her actions, while her opponents were ready to take her down.

Standing between the two groups, Elsa took a deep breath as her blonde hair swayed, and let out all her mana into the surroundings.

"Glacial Veil."

The cave started shuddering as her voice resonated throughout.

Frost exploded outward from Elsa's figure, freezing the ground and walls of the tunnel, along with her body which was the source.

Massive shards of ice erupted from the floor, slamming together to form an impenetrable wall that entirely sealed the path of the tunnel, blocking off the enemy guilds on the other side with a 10-meter-thick wall between them.

The surface of the ice wall gleamed like polished glass, radiating a biting cold that filled the air. The wall stretched from floor to ceiling, its jagged edges fusing seamlessly into the cavern.

Everyone was shocked at the power of the spell, especially the 12 members group who saw Elsa getting herself trapped in the middle of the ice wall.

The people from the enemy guilds scoffed at their struggle to save themselves before they started thawing at the ice wall with their attacks.

"This way!"

Felix shouted as he looked at his map skill to find a way back to the tunnel they had travelled from.

Along with him was the rescue team who, despite their doubts about his skills, followed the path he was pointing at without probing.

With a calm look on his face, Victor led the team in the direction Felix pointed at while keeping track of the way and general direction from the broken tunnel.

'Hmm. We haven't deviated much from the broken tunnel. If we keep going this way then we'll be able to reach all the way back to the place where we first arrived in the dungeon.'

Seeing the boy, Felix, guiding them through the labyrinth-like tunnels in a zig-zag manner, Victor couldn't help but have a good impression of him.

'I heard he was both a Rank 1 Swordsman and Mage, but do Rank 1 mages have such a good spell?'

He didn't have much knowledge about the Mages as he and his team were all Warriors, but he still knew that a Rank 1 mage wouldn't normally have such a handy detection spell that encompassed such a large area.

Although he felt a bit suspicious about the boy with his unique appearance, he didn't voice out anything as they were in the middle of an important task.

"It's here!"

Suddenly, Felix stopped in the middle of an intersection that led to two tunnel paths and looked strangely at the air.

He had calculated all the possible tunnels leading out from the base to their beginning point, and this spot came right between the middle.

Victor, Evan and the rest of the rescue team looked around in confusion, wondering whether the boy had made a mistake.

"They must be somewhere around us. We're in the exact position where the last group should be."

Felix said as he had precisely used every formula of finding the time and distance that he remembered from college, so there was no way he was wrong.

Victor frowned as he looked at both the tunnel paths to the right and left, before ordering.

"Let's split and search for them. Us three will go to the right and Evan, you three go to the left. Return here after 5 minutes. Trellur, you stay here with Felix."

After giving such quick orders, the rescue team got divided as Felix was left alone at the intersection with the Rank 3 Spearman named Trellur.

Ignoring the man who was staring at him with narrowed eyes, Felix read the map to find out if he had made a mistake along the way.

Five minutes later, he was still sure that this was the only spot that matched his calculations as the other people came back from the two paths of the tunnel.

Evan frowned as he gave his opinion about their discovery.

"I didn't find anyone, it's not similar to any tunnel we traversed. The only thing I felt was as if I was climbing a tunnel, not walking there."

His teammates nodded as Victor shared the same.

"We felt it too. It means both the paths lead to a higher level of this cave."

As they didn't find the ones they were looking for, the members of the rescue team frowned in worry, increasing their doubts about the Rank 1 boy.

Hearing their opinions, Felix touched his chin as he looked back at the way they had come from.

He could see the end of the tunnel where they had taken a turn from and saw that the path had a subtle downward slope.

Turning back to look at his position on the map, Felix had his eyes lit up and he exclaimed as the realisation hit him.

"I got it! Everything makes sense now!"

The rescue team members glanced at him as Victor asked with hope.

"Did you get it? Which direction do we have to go now?"

Felix shook his head as he looked down and stomped his right foot on the ground with certainty.

"We don't have to go anywhere. We're right where they are!"
