Chapter 658: 657: Auction (8)
The eight item to be auctioned was an item called a Runeforge Stone.
When Calista introduced the Runeforge Stone, the Auction Hall was silent not because of shock or disbelief, but from a lack of knowledge as to what a Runeforge Stone was.
Only a select few knew what a Runeforge Stone was, and their expressions were relatively mild despite knowing how rare a Runeforge Stone was and the purpose of a Runeforge Stone.
Those who had no idea as to what a Runeforge Stone was had curious expressions as they waited for Calista to explain what a Runeforge Stone was.
A Runeforge Stone is basically a stone that has being filled with a condensed mass of pure rune essence that's naturally formed in places where universal or world laws converge. It can be ancient battlefields of rune-wielders, collapsed dimensions, and even the corpses of extremely powerful beasts that utilize runes in battle.
A Runeforge Stone serves as a perfect medium for inscribing runes onto weapons, armor, artifacts, and even living beings.
Unlike normal rune carvings and inscriptions, those inscribed using a Runeforge Stone become self-sustaining. They passively absorb energy from their surroundings, and this is an immense boon for Array Masters, Formation Masters, and even some Rune Masters.
With a Runeforge Stone, they could create multiple arrays and formations that would not drain them of their energy in battle.
Runeforge Stones can also be used to enhance one's rune-engraving abilities and it can also boost the power of rune-based techniques.
There were other uses and information about Runeforge Stones, but the little Calista revealed about Runeforge Stones was extremely appealing to some organizations.
Even Corey was interested in the Runeforge Stone because of his ability to see runes and interact with runes.
The bid for the Runeforge Stone started at 500 million Mystic Crystals, and after an intense bidding war between the organizations in the lower and middle seats, the Runeforge Stone was sold for 830 million Mystic Crystals to the Mage Association.
None of the organizations in the high seats made a bid for the Runeforge Stone because it was not a rare object for them.
Due to the size of their organization, they could easily get hundreds, if not thousands of Runeforge Stones.
Calista knew this but it was all a part of her plan. Selling only rare objects and items that would make those in the high seats to place a bid would be detrimental to her future auctions.
Sure, she would make a lot more if she sold only to the top organizations, it would be extremely stupid of her to do such a thing.
'Make sure that everybody feels like they have a chance to acquire my items so that they can keep on coming back for my future auctions.'
'That is the best way to maintain an auction.'
A light smile appeared on Calista's lips as she glanced at the faces of those in the lower seats and in the middle seats.
Her gaze landed on an extremely handsome looking young man with extremely dark and black eyes and long black hair.
The man sat in the lowest seats, and she merely glanced at him for just a second before taking her gaze away.
'I wonder just how much your product would fetch me. It might not be much since it only deals with Mortals, but the potential is immense.'
'I just hope you won't let me down in the future with your future products.'
Calista's smile widened as she pushed these thoughts to the back of her mind, and then she gestured to her left and spoke.
"Now ladies and gentlemen, we're on our ninth product, and I must tell you right now... Our ninth product and tenth product are the main attractions of this auction."
Whispers and murmurs flew around the auction hall as everybody waited for Calista with anticipating eyes and anxious expressions.
Calista saw all of these and her smile could not help but widen.
She snapped her finger, and a hologram appeared above her palm.
The instant the hologram appeared, Anon and several other people stood in defensive positions with sweat dripping down their faces.
SHIIIIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!!
An extremely powerful weight engulfed the entire Auction Hall, and the expressions of those who stood in defensive positions and those who remained standing drastically changed.
Blood poured out of the ears, nose, and eyes of some people as they screamed in pain. While some held their heads with a painful expression, and the others had extremely solemn and wary expressions as they stared at the hologram.
Calista chuckled softly, and her laughter caused some to look at her. Anon was not one of them, his gaze was entirely fixed on the hologram beside Calista.
"The ninth item is an arm, but it's not just any arm, it's the arm of a Monarch... The Blade Monarch."
Gasps of disbelief and shock echoed in the auction hall, and even those who were in pains and discomfort froze as they stared at the hologram of a regular looking arm.
The arm was not extremely muscular or big, and neither was it lean. The only word that could be used to describe it was that it was perfect.
There were no runes, tattoos, or anything of interest on the skin of the arm, however, the killing intent, blade intent, and mere power that was released by the hologram of the arm was so powerful and horrifying that some desired to leave the auction hall due to their weak mentality.
What made it worse was that as they stared at the arm, they began to see illusions.
Mountains of corpses, rivers of blood, pillars of bones, and a throne made out of swords. On the throne was the distorted image of a man with a sword in his right hand.
For some, the moment they saw the distorted image of the man, they began screaming and crying with fearful expressions.
Even some Tier 6s were sweating profusely as they stared at the hologram of the arm.
As the auction hall was about to become a den of madness and fear, Calista waved her hand and the hologram disappeared.
"I think that's enough for now." She smiled.
