Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure

Chapter 1562: Rescue mission (2)

No one said anything at first as they followed me deeper into the land that was covered in corruption energy.

But even though they didn't say anything, there was no hiding the looks of worry that were on their faces. It was clear that they didn't have complete faith in me and were worried that I was leading them into a dangerous situation.

In the end, the one that couldn't help speaking was the general from the Democratic Union.

"We should retreat. It's foolish to continue pushing into enemy territory like this without any information at all."

Though no one said anything to back him up, the looks on their faces showed that they had the same thoughts as this general. Of course, it was to varying degrees that they had this expression.

Those that weren't as close to me showed more of this worry.

Those that were closer to me showed less of this worry.

There were only a few that didn't have any worry on their faces at all, but they were definitely the minority.

I didn't say anything as I was completely focused on the ground in front of me. The way that I looked down on the ground made it clear that I was only focused on the thing that I could see.

This just made them look at me as if I was crazy.

"I feel that the pressure has gotten to him, we should…" The general from the Democratic Union never got to finish his sentence. That was because there was a sound that came from in front of us.

This was the sound of fighting.

This was the sound of someone struggling.

And there were words that were being said, which was something that the strange creatures couldn't do.

That meant that the ones that were ahead had to be…

Ignoring the general from the Democratic Union, I said to the group from the Holy Empire, "Jump on the wyverns and scout out what's happening ahead. Provide support from afar with your flame breaths if necessary, but don't put yourselves at risk. We'll be there soon."

They quickly nodded before jumping onto the wyverns with my royal guards.

As soon as they jumped on, the wyverns took off and flew forward towards the sound.

I looked at the general and asked, "Are you ready?"

The general had an embarrassed look on his face, but he still gave a nod since he was a soldier. Even if he was flustered, he wouldn't forget the training that he had been instilled with and would focus on what he would need to do.

He even wanted to take the lead on this to prove himself.

But I didn't let him do that.

There was only one person that could actually take the lead in this situation.

The Dwarven King raised his warhammer high up into the air before leading the charge forward.

I wasn't that far behind him, but I did make sure that he was the one that was at the very front.

After all, the Dwarven King was the only one that had a previous relationship with the gnomes. So he had to be at the very front for the gnomes to recognize that we were here to help them rather than to hurt them.

There was no doubt that the gnomes would be in complete despair after what had happened to their home, so they needed one friendly face to pull them out of that despair.

In the end, the situation was much worse than we thought.

There were hordes of the strange creatures that were in front of us.

Even though the wyverns and members of the Holy Empire had gone ahead, they just weren't able to deal with all of the strange creatures that were there. The flames just couldn't cut through the large masses of these strange creatures.

That was why I jumped onto Joan and had her lead the way instead.

The gnomes were nowhere to be seen, but we could see that there was a cave in the distance that was the target of the strange creatures.

All of the strange creatures seemed to be heading towards that cave as if they were focused on hunting something down. Well, all of them except for the ones that were being attacked by the holy energy flames.

Those ones had to at least turn around to face the wyverns, but they weren't really able to do much since the wyverns could fly and they couldn't.

Once Joan came forward with her divine energy flames, it was completely different.

It was like a hot knife through butter with the way that her flames cut right through them.

With her flames leading the way, it created a path for us towards the cave.

But the appearance of this major threat was all that was needed to draw the attention of the strange creatures. They hadn't been bothered when it was just the other wyverns with the holy energy flames.

It was different when it was Joan with her divine energy flames.

They looked at her as if she was their natural enemy.

For a moment, they seemed as if they had completely forgotten the cave that they had been attacking. But in the end, there were some of them that turned back to the cave while the others started charging at Joan.

Of course, it wasn't as if they were allowed to approach.

The others started making their move once there was a path cleared for them.

This time, it was Alidus that led the charge with his club in hand.

His club was completely different from the rest of the weapons that the others used.

A single swing of his club was more than enough to cut down a large group of the strange creatures and wipe them out of existence.

Then after that, there were divine energy flames that came from behind him that swallowed the rest of the strange creatures that were around him, giving him time to swing his club once more.

It was all about teamwork as we pushed towards the cave.
