Chapter 4: The Weight of Eternity
The storm had passed, but Shidai knew the world had not. The universe itself trembled, reacting to the cosmic shift that followed his unrelenting victory. The air around him buzzed, vibrating with potential, as if waiting for the next move. But Shidai did not rush. The game had just begun.
He stood alone at the center of the world, the streets below him now reduced to a cracked, scorched wasteland. His every thought bent the fabric of existence around him, reshaping it at will. Cities could be built or destroyed with a mere thought. Time could be bent, or erased. Space could stretch, or collapse.
Yet, as Shidai's presence filled the universe with a cold, unyielding power, something stirred beneath the surface—a shift, an anomaly. The power he wielded was so immense, it was almost as if the universe itself could not accept it. No, it wasn't just Lucas that Shidai had defeated. He had obliterated the balance of everything.
And that, he would soon learn, came with its own cost.
The ground beneath him quivered slightly, a soft rumble, barely noticeable. It was the universe fighting back, a warning that even the God of Everything was not beyond challenge. The world had limits, and it would not stand idly by while its very foundation was ripped apart.
Shidai narrowed his eyes, sensing the disturbance. It was subtle at first—an inkling of something trying to resist his presence. His power surged, growing with the speed of thought, but as it did, the disturbance grew stronger. The very air rippled, and a voice, ancient and unfathomable, echoed in the space around him.
"You are not the only force, Shidai."
The voice was cold, timeless. It reverberated through Shidai's being, shaking him for the first time in eons. He stood tall, unshaken, but even he couldn't ignore the gravity of those words. There were forces older than him, deeper than his understanding—forces that were not bound to the same rules he governed.
"Who dares?" Shidai's voice rang out, cutting through the void like a blade. "I am Shidai. I am the beginning and the end of everything. I bend reality to my will."
The voice didn't respond immediately. Instead, the very air around him began to warp, twisting into shapes that defied logic. Space itself bent and contorted, pulling at his essence, testing his limits. Shidai's eyes flashed with an intense, fiery light, his will immediately pressing back against the distortion.
And then, it appeared.
A figure—shadowed, yet impossible to ignore—materialized before Shidai. It was not a being of flesh and bone, but something far more complex. A being that transcended time, its form constantly shifting, morphing between states of existence.
"You are nothing but a child in the presence of the eternal."
The figure's voice reverberated with power, its tone distant and alien, as if it were speaking from the heart of the cosmos itself. Shidai's eyes narrowed, every instinct screaming that this was no ordinary entity. This was not a challenge born of greed or ambition. This was something much older. Much greater.
And yet, the God of Everything would not flinch.
"I am not a child," Shidai growled. "You may be ancient, but you are not the one who rules this world. I am Shidai. And I will break you just like I broke Lucas."
The figure's laugh echoed in the void, hollow and unsettling. "You misunderstand, Shidai. You have no concept of what you've unleashed. You have shaken the very foundations of existence, and now the void demands balance."
Balance? Shidai felt the term reverberate inside his mind. He did not care for balance. Balance was for those who feared the inevitable rise of power, the consequences of true domination. Balance was for the weak.
"If this is balance, then I will break it as easily as I broke everything else." Shidai's voice was ice cold, laced with a certainty that even the stars themselves could not challenge.
The being's shifting form rippled, as if considering Shidai's words. "You claim to bend reality, but you have only tapped the surface. The forces you are dealing with are beyond your comprehension, beyond your power."
A pulse of energy shot through Shidai, a force that struck like a thousand bolts of lightning. His body was pushed back, his feet sliding across the shattered ground as the energy of the being tried to overwhelm him. But Shidai's eyes glowed brighter than ever before, the sheer force of his presence igniting the air around him.
"You think that will stop me?" Shidai's voice was a growl, filled with an unwavering conviction. "I am Shidai. I am everything. And I cannot be stopped."
In an instant, the universe around them shifted, reality itself bending to Shidai's will. The ground cracked open beneath them, and the sky darkened as storm clouds swirled with violent energy. But even as he summoned the full force of his power, the entity before him stood unfazed.
"You are merely a fragment, Shidai," the entity said softly. "A fragment that will be consumed by what you have awakened."
Shidai's eyes flared with anger, but there was something deeper beneath his fury—a realization. This was no ordinary foe. This was a being tied to the fabric of existence itself. A force that transcended his understanding. It was not merely a challenge—it was a test of his will, a challenge that he could not simply break through with raw power.
And yet, Shidai's smile remained, predatory and unyielding. He would not be bested. Not now. Not ever.
"I don't need to understand you," Shidai said, his voice filled with confidence. "You are nothing more than another obstacle. And every obstacle in my path falls. No exceptions."
The figure's form twisted violently as Shidai unleashed the full might of his power. Reality shattered around them, the very cosmos trembling beneath Shidai's wrath. The being tried to resist, but it was futile. For every move it made, Shidai countered. For every attempt to break him, Shidai crushed it with the weight of his will.
As the entity began to disintegrate, its form flickering and fading, it whispered one final word.
"You will fall."
But Shidai didn't care for warnings. He had been told he would fall countless times before, and yet he stood unbroken. He was Shidai. He was everything.
The figure disintegrated into nothingness, and Shidai stood triumphant, the weight of eternity shifting with every step he took. The universe had tested him, and he had won. Unapologetically. Unstoppably.
"Another challenger vanquished," Shidai whispered to the night. "Another reminder that no force, no matter how ancient, can stand against me."
But deep within, beneath the surface of his unyielding confidence, Shidai felt it. The universe was shifting again, recalibrating itself. It would always challenge him. It would always try to break him.
But he would never yield.
For Shidai, the God of Everything, was the only constant in a universe of chaos. And nothing—not time, not space, not fate—could ever take that from him.
