Sharingan Evolution: Proficiency's Path

Chapter 291: Chapter 290: Changing Tactics

"Die!"

With a low shout, Biwa Juzo appeared in front of Qing Ming in a flash, swinging his massive weapon, the Executioner's Blade. He didn't aim specifically for Qing Ming's neck or heart, but rather attacked in a way that his blade could make contact anywhere.

Qing Ming understood this tactic well. Given the Executioner's Blade's sheer sharpness and size, it didn't matter much where it struck—the result would be devastating regardless. Thus, while this wide, sweeping blade work might appear less refined than his sword techniques, it suited the Executioner's Blade perfectly.

This left Qing Ming struggling, though. With the Sharingan, he could predict Juzo's angles and force, but without it, handling the assault would be nearly impossible.

Clang! Clang! The crisp sound of metal clashing echoed.

Qing Ming parried Juzo's powerful strikes with his short sword, yet the massive force from each blow was overwhelming.

As time passed, Qing Ming's situation grew worse, and the surrounding Mist ninja began to stir. Finally, one of them, a Special Jōnin, couldn't resist joining in. He silently formed seals and launched a Water Release technique—Water Whip! A stream of water formed in his hand, shaping into a long whip that slowly approached Qing Ming. At first, it moved slowly, but as it neared Qing Ming, it struck with the speed of a venomous snake.

Despite its speed, Qing Ming was faster. Sensing the incoming water whip with his Sharingan, he dodged Juzo's Executioner's Blade with a quick backward lean, then jumped back to increase the distance between them.

In the same motion, he formed seals with his left hand, unleashing Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique! The fireball met the water whip, creating a loud hiss and a dense cloud of white steam that enveloped the area in a few moments.

The mist wasn't thick enough to obscure vision completely like the Hidden Mist Jutsu, but it provided enough cover.

This was exactly the opportunity Qing Ming needed. Taking advantage of Juzo's pause, he quickly performed Shadow Clone Jutsu. In an instant, his single figure multiplied into four.

Qing Ming and his three clones exchanged a look, and one immediately charged toward the surrounding Mist ninja, continuing his previous plan to clear the field and prevent further interference.

As for the chakra required, Qing Ming had addressed this issue during the earlier melee. He had absorbed chakra from the Mist ninja he had defeated with the Chakra Absorption Technique, restoring his reserves. Now, each clone had more than enough chakra for the task ahead.

With one clone engaging the outer Mist ninja, Qing Ming and his remaining two clones focused on Biwa Juzo. Juzo, seeing the shadow clones used in combat, showed neither disdain nor amusement, knowing well the fate of Hozuki Moritsuke.

Given the situation, underestimating his opponent would mean certain death.

"Is he about to use that?" Juzo's eyes flicked between Qing Ming and his two clones, his mind recalling the devastating Wind Release: Rasenshuriken that Qing Ming had used against Moritsuke.

And this was precisely what Qing Ming wanted Juzo to think. As long as Juzo was wary of that lethal technique, his attacks would be more measured. This hesitation would grant Qing Ming the openings he needed, whether he chose to unleash the Rasenshuriken or something else.

As these thoughts flashed through his mind, a familiar sensation of being watched returned, one that lingered without relenting.

Qing Ming furrowed his brows, then relaxed. He understood what was happening.

His use of the Rasenshuriken to defeat Hozuki Moritsuke had not only intimidated the visible Mist ninja but also unnerved the hidden enemy observing from the shadows. As soon as Qing Ming created shadow clones, the hidden observer's attention immediately sharpened, likely aiming to gain further insight.

But this didn't bother Qing Ming.

He hadn't decided whether to use the Rasenshuriken again, and even if he did, he wasn't concerned about being seen. On the contrary, it might be a chance to lure them into a trap.

Currently, Qing Ming required the aid of shadow clones to wield the Rasenshuriken effectively in close combat due to his lack of experience. However, if the enemy assumed the technique needed assistance from shadow clones, they might be in for a surprise once he could use it solo.

Of course, if they saw through the ploy, it wouldn't matter. His true secret was the Mangekyō Sharingan, and as long as it remained hidden, everything else was secondary. He had no reason to shy away from showing a technique like the Rasenshuriken.

After this rapid internal assessment, Qing Ming and his clones charged Juzo before he could attack. Unlike an average ninja, he had the advantage of coordinating with clones to maximize his Sharingan's effectiveness.

Dodging one pair of Sharingan eyes was already challenging; evading three was nearly impossible.

Although he couldn't fully share vision with his clones as Nagato's Six Paths of Pain did, their teamwork still achieved a formidable battle effect.

The only adjustment was to his combat style.

Previously, Qing Ming had blocked Juzo's Executioner's Blade directly with his short sword. But now, with clones involved, that was no longer an option.

With Juzo's immense power, a clone would disintegrate in a few hits if forced into direct blocks. To avoid revealing his true self among the clones, he switched to a hit-and-run tactic for everyone involved.

Thankfully, both his body and his clones could wield the Sharingan, and its superior perception allowed him to dodge direct hits with ease.

Time ticked on, the battle raging continuously.

Qing Ming's clone was engaging the outer Mist ninja, holding them at bay, while Biwa Juzo was gradually showing signs of fatigue under the relentless assault of Qing Ming and his two remaining clones.
