Chapter 62: The Unknown Force
The aftermath of the battle with Azrael was filled with silence, a strange calm that seemed to blanket the ruined landscape. Kilua, Gon, and Vira stood amidst the devastation, breathing heavily but unyielding. The world around them had been altered—fractured, like shattered glass, yet still holding together by some unseen force. Azrael's defeat had not been easy, but they knew that the real challenges had only just begun.
Kilua wiped blood from his brow, looking around at the crumbling world. The ground was cracked, and the once lush trees had turned to dust, sucked into the vortex of Azrael's power. There was no sign of the dark figure anymore—he had disappeared, leaving only destruction behind.
Gon was still catching his breath, his expression determined despite the toll the battle had taken on him. "We did it… but it feels like something's still missing," he murmured, looking around cautiously.
Vira, ever composed, stepped forward, her eyes scanning the horizon. "Azrael was only a pawn. This world is controlled by something far greater, something you've yet to see." She spoke the words with a chilling certainty, her voice low but piercing.
Kilua frowned, his mind racing. "What are you talking about? We defeated Azrael, right? Isn't that enough?" He felt a sense of unease that gnawed at him, something about the way Vira spoke triggered his instincts.
Vira turned to face him, her yellow eyes gleaming in the dim light. "You don't understand. Azrael was just a servant of the true force that governs this realm. His death will do little to stop the destruction already in motion."
Kilua clenched his fists, anger rising within him. "Who or what could be stronger than him?"
Without warning, the ground shook again. It was subtle at first, but quickly grew more intense, as if the very world beneath them was alive. The wind began to pick up, howling through the broken landscape. The air crackled with a strange energy, something neither of them had felt before.
"No… this can't be," Vira whispered under her breath, her eyes narrowing. "It's already begun."
Kilua and Gon exchanged looks, confusion and fear creeping into their hearts. The force that had once been held back by Azrael's control now seemed to be awakening, its power radiating outward.
Suddenly, a voice boomed, cutting through the howling winds. It was deep, ancient, and filled with an overwhelming sense of authority. "You are fools to think that you can stop what has been set in motion."
A figure appeared before them, standing tall with a dark aura surrounding it. The figure was cloaked in shadows, its features hidden, but the presence was undeniable. It was as if the very air around them bent to the figure's will, warping reality in its wake. Kilua instinctively dropped into a fighting stance, his senses on high alert.
Gon, too, readied himself, gripping his fishing rod tightly. He felt the immense power emanating from this figure, unlike anything he had ever faced before. The energy felt ancient, a force beyond the realm of normal Nen users.
The figure stepped forward, and its voice echoed in their minds. "I am the Entity that governs this world. The balance that you have disturbed cannot be restored. You will pay the price for meddling with forces far beyond your comprehension."
Vira's face turned pale, her usual composure slipping for the first time. "So… it's you," she whispered, almost as if in recognition. "The true master of this realm…"
Kilua's heart raced as he listened to the Entity's words. "What is this place? And who are you?"
The Entity's laughter reverberated through the air, sending chills down their spines. "I am the end and the beginning. The force that sustains and destroys all. You are in my domain now, and your fate is sealed."
Kilua took a step back, feeling the weight of the Entity's presence pressing down on him. This was not a being of flesh and blood. This was something far more powerful—an elemental force that controlled the very fabric of this world. And now, they had inadvertently awakened it.
"What do you want from us?" Gon asked, his voice steady despite the terror that began to claw at his insides.
The Entity's eyes glowed faintly in the darkness. "I do not want. I merely exist. But you, you are the ones who have disturbed the natural order. You will face the consequences of your actions."
Vira, now visibly shaken, stepped forward. "This cannot be happening. We can't fight something like this."
Kilua's eyes darted to her. "What do you mean? You've faced this thing before, haven't you?"
Vira hesitated, her face a mask of conflict. "Yes. I was part of a group that once tried to challenge the Entity… but we failed. I barely escaped with my life. This is not something that can be fought with mere Nen."
Kilua's fists tightened. "Then what can we do? How do we stop it?"
The Entity's form flickered as it began to speak again, its voice like thunder. "You cannot stop me. You cannot even begin to comprehend the forces at work here. The realm is mine, and all who enter it must obey my will."
Without warning, the ground beneath them shattered, and the sky above seemed to split open. The very space around them warped, and the Entity's power surged forward, engulfing them in a wave of darkness.
Kilua and Gon felt themselves being pulled into the vortex, their bodies weightless as if being dragged toward an unknown fate. Vira's voice rang out in a final, desperate cry, "You must make a choice. There is no escape!"
Kilua's mind raced, his Nen pulsing violently as he tried to resist the pull. The Entity's grip on their world was tightening, and with each passing second, their chances of survival grew slimmer.
But one thing was clear: they were not fighting just for their own survival anymore. They were fighting for the very existence of the world they had come to know.
