Chapter 50: Devil Summoning
In a small forest some distance away from the Waterflower City, a beautiful woman was standing alone, surrounded by countless tall trees and colorful flowers.
The woman had long white hair, a pair of strange, gray eyes and was wearing a black dress that matched well with her good figure.
Around her, there were a dozen or so people, men and women, tied up and with a piece of fabric in their mouths, rendering them unable to make any sound.
Chu Wuyao glanced at them faintly and then ignored them, turning her attention to her Devil bloodline and activating the ability engraved on it, the Devil Contract.
In an instant, an eerie, black smoke flowed out of her body and gathered towards her hand, materializing into a yellow, withered piece of paper that was densely packed with black words.
This piece of paper didn't appear strange, as if it was an ordinary paper.
It didn't look like something that had been a black smoke just less than a second ago.
"Is this the difference between cultivators and bloodline creatures?", Chu Wuyao muttered and recalled the feeling she had the moment she cast the Devil Contract.
Compared to cultivators, who have to collect and practice skills in order to use them, every Devil will naturally awaken abilities from their bloodline and will be able able to cast them from right off the bat.
Constantly casting their abilities or practicing only serves as a way to improve the power of the ability rather than their proficiency.
This is quite similar to the special abilities that monsters awaken, like the Emotional Puppetry of the spider monster that had previously attacked Chu Wuyao in the strange village.
This also leads to the fact that Devils and monsters generally have higher combat power than human cultivators at the same realm.
Of course, this also comes with a certain cost...
After Chu Wuyao checked the text on yellow, she knelt beside one of her prisoners, also known as test subjects, and placed the contract in front of his eyes.
"Are you willing to sign this contract?", she asked in a calm voice.
The young man, who had been kidnapped out of nowhere and brought here, looked at the paper in front of his eyes and couldn't help but curse his luck.
Why was so unlucky to be targeted by such a lunatic?
While cursing Chu Wuyao for being completely insane, the young man unconsciously read through the text.
[On the condition that Party A(Creator of this Contract) considers not killing the entire family of Party B(Prisoner), Party B agrees that his soul shall belong to Party A from now on.]
At the bottom of the page, there was a weird, twisted symbol that the man was unable to recognize.
He was very sure that he had never seen such a symbol in the Waterflower City.
While the young man was deep in though, Chu Wuyao felt that his silence was him despising her!
Her face turned dark and she looked at him with murderous intent.
"Bang!"
All of a sudden, her hand turned into a fist that hit the young man's abdomen, causing his stomach to cave in and blood to flow out of his mouth.
"Trash! Why don't you answer? Are you ignoring me?"
"Do you think that I'm not worthy of you talking?"
"Why? Why are you forcing me to do this?", she yelled and continued pummeling the young man.
Her fists rained down constantly, but Chu Wuyao soon noticed something strange.
Even though the man had become bloody, he never screamed or begged for mercy no matter how she hit him.
"Sure enough, although these people are human garbage, there are still some tough ones among them.", she thought secretly and praised the young man in her mind, but her movements never stopped.
Only just when the young man was about to die did Chu Wuyao remember something and she stopped paused.
The anger in her face instantly disappeared and she put up what she thought was a kind look.
Smiling slightly, she carefully helped the man up and patted him on the shoulder gently, as if she was comforting him.
Then, she stretched her hand and took out the piece of fabric that she had previously placed in his mouth.
"Spare me! Spare me! Lord! Master! Don't kill me!", the young man saw that he could finally speak and started shouting at the top of his lungs, with tears running down his cheeks.
His words received a look of contempt by Chu Wuyao and she knew that she had overestimated him.
"It's all your fault. If you had told me earlier, I would have known that you couldn't speak.", she patiently explained and brought the contract in front of the man's, now red, eyes again.
"Are you willing to sign this contract?", she asked once more.
Seeing this, the young man didn't hesitate and immediately started screaming.
"I agree! I agree! I agree to everything you say!"
Having experienced the "convincing words" of Chu Wuyao, he didn't even dare to think about refusing.
The moment his words fell, the withered paper in Chu Wuyao's hand disappeared, and fused with her body.
Nodding her head, Chu Wuyao gagged the man again so that he would shut up, and then followed the same series of actions to convince the other prisoners.
This time, having witnessed the previous scene, the process was way easier.
Soon, Chu Wuyao had obtained everyone's agreement and a happy smile had appeared on her face.
Taking a last glance at the people below that had committed countless many atrocities, Chu Wuyao didn't feel any guilt and immediately waved her hand.
Before the prisoners could even react, a white, transparent substance flowed out of them and gathered towards Chu Wuyao's hand.
The moment this substance left their bodies, the prisoners' eyes lost their luster and they dropped dead.
Chu Wuyao didn't seem surprised by this and was instead looking intently at the white substance that was wandering around her palm.
"Is this the so-called soul?", she whispered and for some reason, she had an urge to take a bite.
In fact, the information she had received during her bloodline awakening included things like recipes for eating souls, which creatures' souls tasted the best, how to extract souls more effectively, etc..
This is because of the Devils' most well-known habit, the devouring of souls.
As evil creatures, Devils wouldn't care about human morality and didn't feel that there was anything strange with eating souls.
Thus, their food consisted mostly of souls.
All this information, coupled with the instinctive reaction that came from her body and was constantly reminding her how tasty these souls would be, resulted in Chu Wuyao's current situation.
But the more this happened, the more disgusted Chu Wuyao became.
She didn't become disgusted with the action of eating of souls, but with the fact that there was something that was trying to affect her thinking!
For Chu Wuyao, this was something completely unacceptable!
If she had to lose herself and be driven by her instincts in order to get stronger, it would be completely meaningless!
Would that final version of her changed self still be considered the true Chu Wuyao?
She didn't think so!
"It seems that there are some unwanted side-effects. I'll have to be more careful in the future.", Chu Wuyao noted this down, but she didn't become depressed.
Instead, she felt that she quite lucky to have discovered such changes now.
She had a hunch that it was not only the Devil bloodline that had such side-effects, but that the techniques and skills that one practiced would also affect them, albeit to a smaller degree.
Shaking her head, Chu Wuyao consciously suppressed her instincts and knelt down, using her finger as the brush and the souls as the "paint" to draw a strange formation on the ground.
Her movements were fast but methodical, as if she was an artist that was carefully crafting their painting.
Soon, the "painting" was done, leaving a formation composed of many twisted symbols on the ground.
Suddenly, the patterns of the formation shone with a dazzling red color that was reflected in Chu Wuyao's eyes.
The next moment, a small space crack appeared right above this formation, that seemed to be able lead to an entirely different dimension.
"Rooooaaar!", a majestic, powerful roar spread throughout the forest, startling the animals and forcing them to kneel down and cry for mercy.
Before long, the owner of this roar walked out of the space crack, revealing its appearance to Chu Wuyao.
This creature had slender limbs, with a black fur covering its entire body, as if it itself was a symbol of the darkness.
There was a long tail on its back that shook around and constantly hit the ground, while its two black ears were twitching, clearly possessing extraordinary hearing abilities.
The creature stood still, but it was able to exude supreme confidence even without it moving.
Its pair of golden, indifferent eyes looked around condescendingly, as if it was declaring its sovereignty over this land.
Suddenly, the creature's gaze landed on Chu Wuyao, and it opened its mouth, revealing a pair of razor-sharp teeth.
"Are you the one that summoned me?", it asked in a deep voice.
