Chapter 239: Everydays
Masato
Tsukuhara High School - Library
Knowing that Sumire would be in school today, he waited until the girl was finished with exams. He wanted to give her tickets to his next concert. After the last one went well, his father insisted that he held another performance and this time at a larger venue.
'The only reason I did that well, was because Sumire was there.'
"I can't believe they delayed the start of the concur for me." Sumire mumbled.
Seeing him, Sumire pleaded that he helped tutor her before her next test. Insisting that she had no chance to study for this one. It was an excuse. He was one of the few who knew that the girl was a genius. Still he agreed, realizing it would be a good chance to give her the tickets.
"Of course they did, you're a highly valuable participant."
"Hmmm but they probably did thistoo because senpai hasn't shown up yet?"
"Nobody knows where Ichinose-san is right now."
Masato stopped himself from adding, that it was probably for the best. Having Ichinose Arashi show up right now, will only make the current situation complicated.
'I want to ask Sumire how things are going with Mashima Toh, but it's an awkward topic to approach.'
At those words, Sumire paused. "Actually, senpai came to see me awhile back."
Masato blinked, hearing the girl's words. Out of everything she would have said, he didn't expect that.
"He saw you." Masato repeated.
Sumire sighed deeply. "I wasn't expecting to be ambushed. It was a real shock for me."
"But you didn't run away?"
Sumire paused and shook her head. "I figured I'd eventually have to speak to him, like I did with Atushi."
She sounds so casual about that. But, it probably wasn't easy for her. Masato reached over and lightly knocked her head.
"Good job."
Sumire's gaze softened. "Mm." She paused. "Oh, I heard you and Atushi have become close? That's great."
Masato exhaled deeply seeing her sparkly eyes. "You know, I do have other friends. Don't make it sound like I don't talk to people."
"Because you don't."
"I don't really think you're one to talk."
Sumire blushed. "W-well, I am trying!" She exclaimed. "It's not my fault that half the girls in this school are in love with Ru or you and the other guys."
Right. He always felt bad about it. Why does Sumire have to be the target of other females malice just because she is their composer and friend? But, it's not like they can keep their distance from her either. Sumire also gave them the option. She gave them the choice to hang around her. He and the other guys didn't hesitate.
Despite how casually she accepted their choice. Masato saw her sigh in relief.
"No doubt your efforts will pay off." Masato turned to the textbook. "Which parts do you want me to explain?"
"Oh this one, on page twenty." Sumire pointed. "I actually struggle with this, you know. I'm not just pretending."
Masato raised his eyebrow and looked at her doubtfully.
"Alright, fine!" Sumire exclaimed. "I just wanted to make it easier for you to give me those concert tickets."
He blinked surprised and it was his turn to blush. How on earth did she know?
"I don't quite get it, but your father said something to me after the show about me being your good luck charm."
That damned old man. No wonder he has been looking cheerful recently. He probably thinks that he found a bride candidate for him.
'I need to clarify everything when I get home.'
For now, Masato dove into his pocket for the tickets and pulled out two. "If you're not comfortable going alone, then you can invite someone."
"Should I invite Masaru-senpai?"
Masato's gaze dimmed. "Please don't."
Besides, something tells him that guy already has a ticket.
Sumire laughed."I understand, I'll invite someone else that you'll be comfortable with."
As she took the tickets from him, their hands made contact and he felt his heartbeat speed up. He was half tempted to grab her hand but knew how odd that would be.
'Control yourself Masato. Don't behave like Iwa-senpai.'
Speaking of his grey haired senpai, surprisingly he has been very quiet despite declaring his affections for Sumire. Maybe it was just a fling and he wasn't serious?
"By the way, have you found someone to accompany you yet?"
Sumire nodded. "Somebody from class C volunteered. She seems like a nice girl."
"Did you-" Masato didn't want to say it. But knowing how many enemies Sumire had, it was necessary for her to conduct background checks. "-do a check?"
"I did, she seems fine, comes from a regular family. Doesn't seem to be fan of any idols, at least nothing that would come from a check."
Masato watched her expression for a few minutes before exhaling deeply. "Well if you're sure about it. If you do need some extra help practising though, just let me know."
Sumire giggled. "Should you really be helping out a fellow participant?"
No, he shouldn't.
Even if they are friends, right now they are competing against one another. Moreover Sumire is an extremely talented violinist. Before Masato could say anymore, the doors opened revealing a man with silver coloured hair.
"Toh!" Sumire said brightly as she walked over to him.
"You forgot your lunch."
"Ah. Is that all?"
"-and I wanted to see you, maybe sneak in a kiss or two before I get dragged off to a boring social event."
Sumire laughed softly. "Regardless, I'm happy you came to see me."
"Then, do I get something nice in return?" Toh wrapped his arms around Sumire's waist.
Masato paused and turned away. They aren't going to get affectionate when he is right there right? No. Sumire isn't one for public displays of affection.
His thoughts break off seeing Atushi approach.
"Masato-san. Sorry for bei-" Atushi paused glancing over at Sumire and Mashima. "Maybe we should go somewhere else before they you know."
Masato frowned. "Sumire wouldn't-" His sentence fell short hearing a soft whimper. No it was a moan. He hesitantly turned in Sumire and Mashima's direction again.
Masato stood there frozen at the sight before him. The sight of Mashima kissing Sumire's neck, her tilting her head back- lust filled eyes.
