SCP: A TRUE ANOMALY

Chapter 3: The first interaction

After some time observing SCP-9743, unconscious, and sleeping in the ground of the containment cell. For now, all the work was remain observing how SCP-9743 sleeps and remains sleeping peacefully, and once it wakes up, would be when they would have to tense, and be ready for how it would react.

The hours pass, and the Research Team remain observing, no matter how bored they may be. But after few hours, finally, SCP-9743 woke up, slowly, as first it yawned silently and opening with high size it's mouth, not insanely big but slightly more than a normal human.

The Research Team instantly got prepared after Dr. Alexander Grimm called them to be ready, as SCP-9743 finally woke up. They were tensed, waiting to see what SCP-9743 would do first, and they saw the first thing SCP-9743 did, was get up and look around.

SCP-9743's reaction was of curiosity and wonder. He looked around, questioning multiple things, but then, he noticed the cameras, and stared at them directly. Remaining with his neutral dead expression, he remained staring at the cameras of the corners.

The Research Team wondered what he was doing, so Dr. Alexander Grimm called Dr. Sophia Adler, who after short time, arrived, and her conclusion was short.

Dr. Sophia Adler: "SCP-9743 is studying his surroundings, in a search for something we unknow."

Dr. Sophia Adler couldn't provide a big explanation, by her lack of information about SCP-9743, as after all, it was his first day being contained. So for in need of more information to understand SCP-9743, Dr. Alexander Grimm decided to call Director Elena Mallory, for take a D-class.

After some short time, maybe few minutes up to ten minutes, the guards brought a D-class, and Dr. Alexander Grimm opened the containment cell. Quickly, D-class had to enter inside the containment cell, and after entering the slightness, the containment door closed behind the D-class.

SCP-9743 remained still, observing the D-class, both staring at each other. The D-class was afraid of what could happen, while SCP-9743 remained with his neutral dead expression. Despite not have done anything, he was giving a thrill of death around him.

Suddenly, SCP-9743 rises his arms, but was just to cross them in front of his chest, while his expression changed slightly, now to one of boredom and annoyment.

SCP-9743: "... What do you want?"

The Research team got surprised by the calmness of SCP-9743, despite his expression, seemed docile in his interaction, but gave the feeling of him wanting to go straight to the point, by his acting of non talkative, and be of low words and short talk.

The D-class remained nervous and silent, unknowing what to do, but knowing that it needed to respond, but with what? But then, it tried.

D-class: "I was... Sent here, just that. I don't want.. Anything exactly, but... They do."

The Research Team expected to SCP-9743 to react, but he didn't. The interaction remained talkative and docile so far, but the feeling... They knew at any point, SCP-9743 was going to do something to the D-class, now classified as SCP-9743-1.

SCP-9743: "Well, in that case, why are you here?" Then, turned to look at one of the cameras directly. "And not that 'them' you just mentioned?"

The Research Team got it now, the look SCP-9743 towards the cameras, was waiting for them to act, and now with what SCP-9743 said, while looking at the camera directly, made it clear. He wanted them to act, and not lose time sending others for them.

The Research Team hesitated in taking a decision, as they couldn't risk, so they remained only observing. They were just going to wait for obtain all the information they could, and only then, decide what they could do with SCP-9743, and what he would be able to do.

SCP-9743-1: "I.. I don't know. They only study things like.." He stopped at mid sentence, seeing how SCP-9743 turned from looking at the camera, to then at him.

SCP-9743: "'Things like...'. Like what exactly? I know you wanted to say like me, but what you wanted to mean with that exactly?"

SCP-9743's tone was some sort of calm, but it was also giving the feeling of being aggressive in a defensive position. Any mistake, and the D-class was going to find out what SCP-9743 could do. SCP-9743-1 hesitated, in an attempt to change the subject and find a way to relax the atmosphere.

SCP-9743-1: "Like... Unique as you are. All SCPs are very unique, some in their own way, and-" But then is stopped, as SCP-9743 interrupted the D-class.

SCP-9743: "Do yourself a favor and leave. You're only making this worse to yourself."

The D-class turned around, and went to the containment door, waiting it for be opened. After a moment, slowly, the door was opened, and the guard took the D-class. SCP-9743 remained in his place, seeing how the door of his containment cell closed, and then, turned to look at the cameras again.

While SCP-9743 remained still, with his arms crossed, and staring at the cameras, the Research Team was split in one part, observing, and other part filling the inform of the first interaction done with SCP-9743.

Here's an informative summary of the interaction:

Incident Report: First Interaction Between SCP-9743 and a D-Class Personnel

Date: March 15, 2022

Location: Site-19 Containment Chamber for SCP-9743

Conducted by: Dr. Alexander Grimm

Personnel Involved: D-Class Subject (Designated SCP-9743-1), Research Team, Armed Guards

Incident Overview

This document outlines the first recorded interaction between SCP-9743 and a D-Class personnel. The encounter, designed to gauge SCP-9743's behavior and level of hostility during direct interaction, yielded significant insights into its psychological disposition and method of communication.

Interaction Summary

Containment Entry:

Approximately 10 minutes into the observation period, a D-Class subject was escorted to SCP-9743's containment cell by armed guards under Dr. Alexander Grimm's supervision. The containment door was opened remotely, and the D-Class was instructed to enter. The door shut behind the subject immediately after their entry.

Initial Observation:

SCP-9743 remained stationary, observing the D-Class intently with a neutral yet unsettling expression. Despite its lack of overt hostility, the entity emanated a palpable aura of unease, which visibly affected the D-Class.

SCP-9743's First Words:

After several moments of silence, SCP-9743 crossed its arms and altered its expression slightly, appearing bored and annoyed. It broke the silence with a direct question:

SCP-9743: "... What do you want?"

The unexpected calmness and brevity of SCP-9743's speech surprised the research team, as it demonstrated an unexpected level of docility.

D-Class Response:

The D-Class hesitantly replied, struggling with fear and uncertainty:

D-Class: "I was... Sent here, just that. I don't want.. Anything exactly, but... They do."

SCP-9743 did not initially react aggressively but instead responded with a pointed question, turning its attention to the observation camera:

SCP-9743: "Well, in that case, why are you here? And not that 'them' you just mentioned?"

The entity's direct gaze and rhetorical phrasing suggested that it was aware of the research team's presence and intent.

Building Tension:

The D-Class attempted to explain but faltered under SCP-9743's scrutiny:

D-Class: "They only study things like..."

SCP-9743 interrupted, its tone calm yet charged with a faint undercurrent of aggression:

SCP-9743: "'Things like...'. Like what exactly? I know you wanted to say like me, but what you wanted to mean with that exactly?"

This moment underscored SCP-9743's intelligence and perceptiveness, as well as its potential for defensive aggression.

SCP-9743's Dismissal:

The D-Class, desperate to de-escalate, attempted to frame its response in a positive light:

D-Class: "Like... Unique as you are. All SCPs are very unique, some in their own way, and—"

SCP-9743 interrupted sharply, issuing a dismissal:

SCP-9743: "Do yourself a favor and leave. You're only making this worse for yourself."

The D-Class complied immediately, retreating to the containment door, which guards opened remotely. SCP-9743 remained motionless as the door closed, then resumed staring at the camera, its expression unreadable.

Analysis:

Behavioral Patterns: SCP-9743 demonstrated no physical aggression during this encounter but maintained an intimidating presence. Its speech patterns suggest intelligence, a preference for brevity, and disdain for unnecessary interaction.

Perception of Control: SCP-9743's actions indicated a level of awareness about the containment procedure and a desire to address the researchers directly rather than through intermediaries.

Potential Risks: Despite the lack of violence, SCP-9743's demeanor and subtle displays of dominance suggest the potential for unpredictable behavior if provoked or challenged.

Conclusion:

The interaction revealed SCP-9743 to be highly intelligent, communicative, and capable of maintaining self-control under controlled circumstances. However, its behavior suggests a preference for direct engagement with authority figures and an intolerance for perceived inefficiency or weakness. Further study is recommended to explore SCP-9743's limits and potential motivations.

Classification Status

Primary Object Class: Pending/Missing Information (Due to insufficient data on SCP-9743's full capabilities and anomalous properties).

Secondary Object Class(es): Potential candidates include:

Euclid: If SCP-9743's behavior remains stable and predictable under observation and containment protocols.

Keter: If further interactions or studies reveal the potential for extreme hostility or unpredictability, especially given its destructive pre-containment history.

Thaumiel: While SCP-9743 has demonstrated a degree of docility and self-control, its defensive and direct nature makes it unlikely to actively cooperate unless it sees a clear purpose. The potential for a Thaumiel designation would require evidence of SCP-9743's willingness to contribute constructively to containment or research operations, which is currently speculative.
