Chapter 753: Manhunt
Pfft...
Several men in black from the corporation were instantly hit by the fragments, and the unluckiest one was pierced in the throat by a sharp piece of wood and died on the spot.
"Ah!" Suddenly, Sakurako screamed.
A piece of wood struck Sakurako's back, and she immediately fell off the sofa. She hit the ground, continuously spitting blood. Seeing this, Xiao Han instantly leaped over and shouted anxiously, "Sakurako, are you... are you alright?"
Xiao Han helped Sakurako up from the ground.
"I... I'm fine." Sakurako shook her head and said, "Xiao Han, you... be careful!"
At that moment, Kato leapt up, swinging his fist fiercely towards Xiao Han.
Xiao Han, no longer paying attention to Sakurako, decisively swung the Ruyi Stick fiercely towards his opponent. The two clashed mid-air, appearing incredibly insane. It was a bloody battle, equally a wild fight. The office was in chaos.
The men in black inside were terrified by Kato, each of them retreating towards the doorway.
Kato's strength was immense; a single punch could smash a several-centimeters-deep hole in the wall. Keep in mind, these were concrete walls, extremely sturdy. Ordinary people could not even make a dent, even if they smashed their fists to pieces.
"Good fellow," Xiao Han narrowed his eyes, that punch indeed had the strength of a thousand pounds.
"Xiao Han, surrender," Kato roared deeply.
"Dream on!" Xiao Han responded disdainfully.
Swoosh swoosh swoosh...
Twelve Yin Spirits quickly appeared, resembling twelve black lotuses floating mid-air.
"What... what is this?" Kato stared, dumbfounded.
"Heh heh, you'll find out soon!" said Xiao Han as he waved his hands and commanded, "Attack!"
The twelve black lotuses transformed into human shapes in mid-air and rapidly dashed towards Kato. Seeing this, Kato exclaimed, "This is absolutely uncanny."
Kato kept resisting.
Kato's strength was formidable; even the Yin Spirits could not handle him, only managing to circle around him, taking turns attacking to exhaust his strength. The reagent inside Kato was gradually weakening, and once it weakened to a certain extent, Kato would no longer have the strength to fight and would surrender without a fight.
Kato seemed to realize Xiao Han's intentions, and suddenly pushed out his hands. The tremendous force flung two Yin Spirits far away.
Swoosh...
He pushed off the ground with his legs and rapidly charged out.
Boom...
The wooden door was directly smashed by him as he charged out.
"Damn it, he got away!" Xiao Han shouted, "Quick, after him!"
Swoosh swoosh swoosh...
The twelve Yin Spirits quickly rushed out.
Xiao Han could not afford to hesitate; he turned to find Sakurako, who was lying on the sofa with a pool of blood on the floor.
"Sakurako, what's wrong?" Xiao Han was horrified.
"I..." Sakurako's face was deathly pale as she said, "Xiao Han-kun, I... I feel like I'm not going to make it."
"Don't talk nonsense." Xiao Han quickly picked up Sakurako and rushed out.
At the entrance, the twelve Yin Spirits had already caused a commotion, and the workers on that floor screamed in terror, scattering everywhere. Only the more than ten men in black were still putting up a fight. Xiao Han, holding Sakurako, moved through the lobby as if it was empty, then entered the elevator and quickly headed straight towards the outside of the Ginza Building.
Once outside, he quickly got into a taxi, then sped towards the nearest hospital.
Upon reaching the hospital, without needing any form of communication from Xiao Han, and even without paying any deposit, the doctors hurriedly took Sakurako to the emergency room. Xiao Han sat alone in the corridor, waiting. No one knew what would happen next, nor what it would be like.
Xiao Han left, but the Corporation's building was in chaos.
Kato's office was basically ruined, the luxurious desk shattered, and the wall pocked with holes. The ceiling above was also destroyed. Surrounding decorations were completely shattered.
When the support security team arrived, Xiao Han was already gone.
Kato lay gasping on the sofa, nearly paralyzed after the medicinal effect faded. His strength was severely depleted, and his body felt as though it had been hollowed out.
"Mr. Kato, are you alright??" A member of the security team hurriedly approached.
"No..." Kato shook his head and said, "I... I'm fine!"
"What on earth happened here?" the security team member awkwardly asked.
"It's nothing," Mr. Kato shook his head and said, "There's nothing serious, no need for the police to intervene. We will handle it internally within the Corporation!"
"Ah?" Upon hearing this, the security personnel quickly responded, "Mr. Kato, this matter seems to be quite serious, you..."
"I've said it's nothing," Mr. Kato frowned and continued, "So, there's no need for you to interfere, you may leave."
"Yes!" The security personnel immediately nodded and then left in dismay.
The Corporation is the largest group in Japan, and backed by the powerful underworld force of the Yamaguchi-gumi, so ordinarily, no one dares to oppose the people from the Corporation, including the local police, who also avoid any conflicts with them for fear of retaliation from the Corporation.
Originally, when the Japanese government had not yet legalized organized crime, the Yamaguchi-gumi and the police often clashed, resulting in casualties whenever they fought. To avoid these casualties, the government reluctantly legalized organized crime through legislation. Since then, there has been little fighting between the police and the Yamaguchi-gumi, only occasional frictions as some areas were under joint control.
Once the security personnel were gone, Sawichi, an assistant from the Yamaguchi-gumi, immediately came over.
"Mr. Kato, should we contact headquarters?" Sawichi asked.
"Not for now," Mr. Kato immediately shook his head and said, "We will handle this matter internally for now, no need to tell anyone."
The reason Mr. Kato didn't want to tell anyone was because he did not want to alert the higher-ups in the organization, nor did he want more people to know about the existence of the Luminous Pearl. The Luminous Pearl, as his master had clearly stated, was a pearl with special properties, and Mr. Kato hoped to keep this particular pearl for himself.
"Then..." Sawichi frowned and asked, "What should we do?"
"What should we do?" Mr. Kato glanced at Sawichi and directed, "Immediately contact people to hunt down Xiao Han!"
"Yes!" Sawichi nodded instantly.
Afterwards, Mr. Kato struggled to stand up. He had just taken a reagent which had strong side effects; once the medicinal effect wore off, he would be incapacitated for several hours, unable to walk or lift objects, essentially useless.
Soon, nearly an entire branch of the Yamaguchi-gumi was mobilized.
Located in Ginza, this branch was arguably the most elite unit of the Yamaguchi-gumi. Over two hundred members began moving around, searching everywhere for Xiao Han.
Sawichi led the search in the vicinity.
They left no potential hiding spot unchecked. However, after searching for a long time, they still had not found any trace of him, which frustrated Sawichi greatly. After all, Tokyo was too vast, and searching for someone without the help of headquarters was like finding a needle in a haystack; finding someone in the huge city was truly a tragic task.
"Go to the hospital!" Mr. Kato immediately ordered.
"Why?" Sawichi hurriedly asked.
"Because Sakurako was injured," Mr. Kato quickly explained, "So, Xiao Han might have gone to the hospital. Now, let's concentrate our efforts there."
"Yes!" Sawichi immediately nodded.
After that, their search direction changed.
In a hospital near Tokyo Ginza, after over two hours of tense surgery, the doors of the operating room finally opened.
"How is it?" Xiao Han rushed up, speaking fluent English.
"Uh..." the other person hesitated, surprised to see a foreigner, then quickly responded in English, "The patient's condition isn't good. She's pregnant, but there's no fetal heartbeat anymore, so the child was miscarried, and the woman is still not out of danger," he said hesitantly.
"What!" Xiao Han was shocked, his hands grabbing the doctor's arms, nearly yanking him off his feet.
"I'm sorry, I am truly sorry," the doctor said with a helpless face, "But the patient lost too much blood, and due to the premature separation of the placenta..."
The doctor looked apologetic.
Seeing the doctor's apology, Xiao Han suddenly realized he had been too rash.
"I'm sorry!" Xiao Han let go of his grip.
"It's alright," the doctor patted Xiao Han's shoulder and said, "It's alright that the child is gone, now you must calm the mother's emotions. Don't let her undergo any emotional upheaval, understand?"
"Yes," Xiao Han nodded.
Not long after, a nurse wheeled the bed out from the room, Sakurako was still under anesthesia, and the effects had not yet worn off. Hence, she remained unconscious.
"Sakurako!" Xiao Han held Sakurako's hand.
The child was gone, Xiao Han did not feel heartache, but felt as if a weight in his heart had been lifted. Looking at Sakurako on the hospital bed, he didn't know how she would feel when she woke up and heard about the child. He appeared incredibly sad and was visibly distressed.
The nurses took Sakurako to the intensive care, leaving Xiao Han to stand outside, watching through the glass.
Just as Xiao Han was staring at the intensive care unit,
a voice came, "He's here!"
Swoosh...
A group of men ran over, carrying machetes, axes, and even large watermelon knives. From their stance, it was clear they were from the underworld; these men were definitely Mr. Kato's men, as Mr. Kato was in search of him everywhere.
