Chapter 25: Improviser
"HOW DARE YOU!" said Ben.
He was furious after he saw what I did with the Circle.
The gap between us got wider and wider, and Brass was getting exhausted from blocking Ben's Magic from reaching us. There wasn't any time left. I was sure that the ceiling was going to fall, and I didn't want to die before seeing the ending.
The platform I was standing on was melting away in the lava. I quickly jumped around to secure a better spot to land on.
"Mark, your platform is melting down. Quickly, run," I said.
"I-I can't, the twins are scared," said Mark.
From afar, I could see that the twins weren't the scared ones. I took out the [Short-Distance Teleportation Scroll] from my [Inventory] and used [Appraisal] to check something again.

2 kilometers was about 1.2 miles. The distance between the inside and outside was far less than this, but there was a problem. The [Teleportation] only works if you have 100% of the exact orientation of the destination, and there wasn't any way of knowing that inside a ventilated area.

I opened my [Status Window] to check my level. After I did that, I thought of an idea to get out of this place… a risky way. But this was the only way that I could think of.
I saw Brass, who was diligently fighting with Ben. He was exhausted, and I was sure that his mana was emptied out, yet he was using magic which could lead to some advanced problems. On the other hand, Ben was okay.
By simply watching his skill, I could say that he was a high-level Necromancer, but despite summoning a lot of undead, he had a lot of composure. There was only one answer for that.
"HEY BRASS. He is using a Mana Container," I shouted.
Brass noticed my words and used an undead to get closer to Ben, then used his [Vision Sharing] to check his surroundings. He quickly found a glowing rock on Ben's back that was emitting a line towards him.
Mana Containers were vessels that held extra Mana, which could be used later on, and it could be in many forms such as potions, items, or even skills.
The one that Ben was using was a special stone mostly used for long-term castle defense since it could only stay in one place while having the advantage of holding a lot of Mana and exuding it slowly.
Brass quickly broke the Mana Container with his flying undead. Ben turned angrier than before.
"I'm going to kill every one of you," said Ben.
"I don't think you need to do that," said Brass.
The floor was melting faster and faster, and there wasn't a lot of space to put our feet on. Crack-! The path we came from collapsed and crumbled down. The hope of survival vanished from others' eyes but not mine. I could easily use [Reset] and turn back in time, but I didn't since I felt that we could win nonetheless.
Ben, who was angry not too long ago, calmed down and thought for a single second before saying, "If we're going to die, then I'll make sure to be the one who killed you all," with a smile.
[ Ben Dyaz Used "Corpse Awakening" Skill ]
Dead Summon was one of the basic skills of a Necromancer that allowed them to summon their own high-level undead from Corpses. This Skill was often used with a lot of additional items to boost the chance of success.
But there weren't any other corpses around him to summon. He was using his skill on himself.
From an outsider's view, the [Necromancer] class seems like a powerful class. The power of commanding the dead and creating an unlimited amount of tireless workers. But in [Doomed Fantasy], [Necromancer] wasn't that popular. Sure, there were people who got stupidly powerful with this class, but at the very end, they found its weakness.
In [Doomed Fantasy], a Necromancer needed a lot of materials to summon a powerful undead, which often resulted in tireless hard work and a lot of bargaining. And even with the right amount of materials, the chance of successfully summoning an undead was never 100%.
But after some players' investigation, we found that if a person used their [Corpse Awakening] on themselves, they could get a 100% chance of summoning an undead. Of course, this process was agonizing since, despite sacrificing yourself, you needed to endure an impossible-to-endure pain due to your mana veins exploding inside you.
And that was what Ben was doing to himself.
"Oh no!" I said.
Suddenly, the once fine body of Ben turned upside down. Blood began to pour out of his ears and eyes, and every blood vein was turning purple. He was slowly turning into an undead, and since he was a high-level Necromancer, he was about to turn into a high-level undead too.
"What are we going to do?" said Brass.
Maybe a little, but we had time. I looked around for an opponent to fight, but I couldn't find any. I couldn't fight Ben since I wouldn't be able to. There was a panicking moment, but I didn't panic since there was someone who could fight me.
"Entwine… attack me."
"What!?" he said in shock.
"No, I want you to kill me."
"W-why do I need to do that? Have you turned mad? If you want to die, then jump in the lava."
I didn't want to die, but I needed to reach Lv 30 to get out of here.
[Doomed Fantasy] had a strict program against level farms. Each individual in this world had a balanced amount of experience points that were given once defeated. But this amount could change based on difficulties, relations, and the reason for killing.
Brass and I were nobodies to each other, so when he attacked me after we first met, I leveled up after killing his undead, but after our relationship strengthened, no matter how many times he summoned, I wouldn't level up.
I needed a strong catalyst to destroy that relationship… and I knew what the catalyst was.
"If you don't want to kill me, then I'll make you."
"I don't underst—!"
"I lied to you… after I found out about this place. I thought I could make a lot of money by killing the only reason behind so many deaths, but the guild master didn't believe me…"
"…What are you talking about?" Brass's face turned questionable. He was trying to make sense out of my words.
I tried to elevate my sentences in a more devilish way, so I added a little bit of a lie into it.
"He only gave me a single B-grade who doesn't know how to use his strength and two little kids to maintain the balance and asked me to kill a Necromancer. Can you believe it?… so I did what a sane person would do. I used some money and paid for intel about an old man with a sad past to use as a free ride to success… apparently, I misjudged that." I added a little smile at the end to strengthen the villainous taste of the line.
Old man Brass looked down at the ground. I could easily tell that he was in pain, and I felt bad for him. Most of the sentences I used weren't a complete lie, so I felt bad even more.
Brass looked up with a lot of regret in his eyes and said, "You want to die? Then I will give it to you."
[ Brass Entwine Used "Skeleton Summon" Skill ]
"H-hey Entwine. What the hell are you doing?!" said Mark.
The skeleton beards began to crawl out of the ground and Brass's coat and began to attack me one by one.
I quickly drew my sword and attacked the beards one by one while dodging them and moving to the yet-to-be-melted platforms.
I scanned the beards and saw their eyes glow by order, which meant that Brass was using his skill on them to attack me flawlessly, but it was futile. I saw the diving attack patterns of the beards and slashed them one by one.
All the while I was slaying the undead, Brass's expression didn't change in the slightest.
After some more undead killing, I gained what I wanted this whole time. Apperesial
