Chapter 88: Be good and call me great grandpa
Jiraiya, stationed in the audience seats to protect the spectators, stood slack-jawed. What had he just witnessed?
Two iron spheres, each over three meters in diameter, had been hurled through the air—and with an added Giant Transformation Jutsu no less!
This technique was a signature one, used only by the Three Legendary Sannin apart from Hiruzen Sarutobi and Sakura.
Hiruzen and Orochimaru were locked in combat on the rooftop, while Tsunade had managed to intimidate Ōnoki.
That left only one possible wielder of this technique.
Initially, Jiraiya had planned to intervene and disrupt the Four Violet Flames Formation with a Swamp of the Underworld, but Sakura had shattered the barrier through sheer brute force instead.
"Pervy Sage!"
"Stop dawdling and get moving!"
Before Jiraiya could act, Sakura's voice rang out from above.
He looked up to see her holding a disheartened Kakashi in one hand, charging toward the opening in the barrier caused by the iron spheres. Upon spotting Jiraiya, she immediately shouted.
"Uh, such a rude little girl," Jiraiya muttered, scratching his head before preparing to follow her.
But just then, a voice called out from behind him.
"Lord Jiraiya."
An ANBU in a black cloak knelt before him.
"What is it?" Jiraiya asked, turning to face the ANBU.
"There are too many summoned beasts rampaging through the village. The casualties are mounting. We need you to suppress the giant snakes."
The ANBU's humble tone conveyed urgency.
Jiraiya frowned at the news. He glanced in the direction Sakura had headed, then back toward the village where clouds of dust rose from the destruction.
Suddenly, a flash of purple caught his eye in the chaos.
"Manda…"
"I understand. I'll take care of it," Jiraiya said gravely before heading toward the giant snake.
Sakura was powerful enough, especially with her Yin Seal. With Kakashi's help and Hiruzen's support, they could handle Rasa and Orochimaru.
But Manda… That was a different story. A creature like Manda devoured people without hesitation.
As Jiraiya left, the ANBU stood up and removed his mask, revealing a kind and harmless face.
If Naruto were here, he would have recognized him immediately—it was Kabuto Yakushi from the Chūnin Exams.
Kabuto gazed at the collapsed arena with a mix of melancholy and resolve.
"Lord Orochimaru, this is all I can do for now."
Boom!
The pink-haired girl and the masked man landed heavily on one of the few intact rooftops, shattering its last remaining piece.
"Huh?"
Kakashi, still disoriented, looked at the two men before him.
Where were Rasa and Orochimaru? And Lord Third Hokage?
But the sight before him was even more perplexing.
Hashirama Senju studied the pink-haired girl intently. Though her hair color was different from Tsunade's, the purple seal on her forehead was unmistakable—it was identical to Mito's Yin Seal.
Her incredible strength and reckless method of problem-solving were eerily familiar too.
Could it be…?
Realization dawned on Hashirama, and a knowing expression spread across his face as he pointed a finger to the sky.
His gaze softened with a grandfatherly affection that sent chills down Sakura's spine.
Even though she'd been warned about the "Ninja God" sharing Naruto's eccentric thought patterns, this was beyond her expectations.
"So, Tsunade's daughter has grown this much…"
Sakura: ???
Kakashi: ???
Hiruzen, climbing out from the rubble: ???
Tsunade, arriving to assess the situation:
Nearby, Tobirama Senju covered his face in exasperation.
"This is absurd! They don't even look alike!"
He glanced at Sakura's face, hair, and eyes before hesitating. True, Tsunade had once been a flat-chested child in his memory… But this girl's brashness was undeniably similar.
Tsunade, who had just climbed up, felt her emotions waver as her joy at seeing her grandfather and granduncle was immediately quashed.
Damn it! I'm far older than Sakura!
"Ha?"
Sakura was already bracing herself for some outrageous comment from Hashirama but hadn't expected it to be this ridiculous.
Apologize to my parents, you idiot!
"Come on, call me Great-Grandfather," Hashirama said, reaching out to pat Sakura's head.
But his wrist was firmly gripped by a slender hand with crimson-painted nails.
"Enough of this nonsense!"
Tsunade's forehead veins bulged as she suppressed her anger.
"I'm still a fifty-year-old unmarried woman! Where would I get a daughter from?!"
"Eh? Tsunade?"
Hashirama's eyes lit up with recognition, his face brimming with joy.
"Haha! My great-granddaughter really does take after you, Tsunade!"
Before Tsunade could lash out, a sinister voice interrupted.
"Well, well, Tsunade, you've returned too…"
Orochimaru appeared silently, his eyes glinting with intrigue as he observed the group.
"Orochimaru, you dare desecrate my grandfather's corpse? Unforgivable."
Tsunade's expression grew icy as she locked eyes with Orochimaru.
"Enough talk, Orochimaru. It's time to act," Rasa interjected, his discontent evident as golden sand gathered around him, forming humanoid shapes.
"Indeed, just as I'd hoped," Orochimaru said with a sly grin.
With that, he formed a hand sign, and the two revived Hokage sprang into action, charging at Hiruzen and Sakura.
Despite his interrupted attempt to erase the Hokage's consciousness with seals, Orochimaru was still able to control them, though it required significant effort.
As Hashirama's fist barreled toward her, Sakura ducked under the punch, her smaller stature granting her an advantage. She retaliated with a powerful punch to his abdomen.
Hashirama blocked the strike instantly, his chakra surging. However, due to the imperfections of the Edo Tensei, his strength had significantly diminished.
Even though he anticipated her move, he was still forced back several steps before stabilizing himself.
"To force my brother into retreat with a single punch… Impressive," Tobirama remarked, momentarily pushed back by Hiruzen.
"Old man, you deal with Orochimaru. Leave these two to me," Sakura said confidently.
"And Kakashi, don't just stand there! Stick to the plan and intercept Rasa!"
