RWBY x DMC - The Subhuman Huntress

Chapter 10: Mission 10 - Bonds of the Family

"Oh!"

I jolted, turning away from the door I was attempting to quietly close.

"Heyyyyy…" I waved slowly to Pyrrha and Jaune, I wasn't entirely ready to show off the new fit but… "I was just coming back after…" I trailed off, gesturing to my outfit.

Watching my previous close completely turn to ash like they were Thanos snapped was weird, and the fact that weapons just… felt weaker wasn't very pleasant. I gripped Rebellion on my way back and felt the handle give just a little bit with a light squeeze.

Not to mention Ebony and Ivory's triggers feeling significantly less smooth.

"It's very you." Jaune's hand landed on my shoulder, and his words were more reassuring than I was willing to admit. "Me and Pyrrha were just about to go for our morning spar, would you care to join us?" The taller girl smiled at me, though I could feel the way her eyes locked onto Jaune's hand like a particularly possessive woman.

"Sure… I haven't actually fought against another human in a long while." That was true, no, I wasn't counting that Parasite. And since I wasn't the last time I was in a fight was a small scrap out in the field around high-school.

Dick 'ed thought it would be funny to destroy my friends' presentation USB.

Jaune grabbed his sword from beside the door with ease, clearly having built up his strength during the past couple months. "I'll go on ahead and reserve us a room, I'll catch you both later." With a two-finger salute, our team leader dipped out the room and left us with the awkward atmosphere of someone thinking I was attempting to seduce their crush.

"He's all yours, for the record." She instantly blushed and started waving her hands back and forth like a flustered Anime girl. "N-n-n-o! You got it all wrong, I just-" Boop. "Huh?" I stepped back, unable to physically bring myself to smile despite the ear-splitting grin I felt like cracking.

"Pyrrha, to basically everyone but Jaune himself and a couple dunder-heads like Cardin… It's clear you like that boy, and to be entirely honest?" I moved to the door, lingering just a bit to make eye contact. "If you don't make that first move, he'll never realize that you have feelings for him, nor will he realize that he has feelings for you."

I never expected to see the Amazon Queen of RWBY reduced into a flaming red tomato, crouching in the corner of our room and muttering sweet nothing's to no one in pure embracement.

-[ LINE BREAK ]-

"Ah, how kinda of you to finally join us~" I said with undisguised schadenfreude.

I had caught up to Jaune first and told him Pyrrha needed a moment to sort out some problems, and the sweet little puppy my team leader is, he took that at face value instead of asking for more details.

Pyrrha gave us a polite bow, but I could've sworn she just dipped that low to avoid actually glaring a hole through my brains.

"Thanks for Joining us, Cannella." Both of us turn to the blonde twunk I somehow encouraged into existence. "It's honestly just occurred to me that I've never actually…" He trailed off, looking away and rolling his hands.

"Fight?" They nodded in sync. "Well, I suppose I've been incredibly lucky that my name was drawn in Goodwitches class and even when it was the fights were so drawn out we didn't get a chance to see me on stage…" Though that begs the question, how do I spin the no aura thing to them?

Thought it's not like I even asked Ozpin to unlock mine… I do suppose with the Aura mountain, I could get my soul unleashed…

"Remnant to Cannella?"

"Ah, shit sorry." Both blinked at me like I just said something completely- Oh. Right. "What were you saying?" I just wanted to move on without dwelling on it.

"I was just wondering if you knew what your semblance was?" Pyrrha, shrewd girl when she wanted to be, put me on the spot.

"Ohhh, uhh… I don't really know how to say this…" I looked away, kind of embarrassed I didn't think to ask Ozpin if I could even have my Aura unlocked, though it might be that he just assumed I had it unlocked from my rapid healing. "I don't have my Aura unlocked and just forgot to ask about getting that fixed."

Both stood stock still, staring at me, neither saying anything, and I just really don't want to leave the air like this… "Look, I grew up on a far away island that's kind of Isolationist and only really got to this continent by accident with a friend semblance that just happens to be able to teleport people and things…" Another shrug for good measure and power walk over to the stage system.

"Lets see here…" I swiped through the display, specifically looking for the proper mood lighting and connecting my scroll to load some tunes that I thankfully didn't have to actually purchase from my Patron. "All set!" Thumbs up, and start moving to the stage-

"Hold up! How do you not have Aura!" Jaune seemed to recover first, rushing up and grabbing me by the bicep. "The things we saw you do in initiation… I just… It doesn't make sense for you to not have Aura… Please tell me you're pulling my leg…" Puppy was looking incredibly lost, though I don't really- Oh, he was probably comparing himself to me.

*FWOOOSH*

I sent him stumbling back, purely from a full force flick that didn't even hit him.

"This is my family crest." I gestured to the Order of the Sword emblem resting on my hip. "Where I'm from, my grandfather lived a long time ago and was effectively a feudal lord." Here's to hoping people buy into my Fortuna bullshit. "The people who live there today take the legends about him as truth and worship him. Just like a god." I started to stretch and limber up for the coming battle.

"Now I could entirely have had my aura activated a long time ago and just never remembered because we have a hereditary semblance like our sister team's resident dust expert." Ahhhh~ Nice and good, god I haven't stretched like this in forever.

"Or, I truly am just… Built Different."

The lights changed right on cue, focusing centre stage and letting me fade into the background as my Brother's theme music started ramping up over the speakers.

"Now, I suggest you both get ready." My voice start to echo around the pair as they stood back to back. "I'm particularly fast, so you might have some trouble keeping up." This was a… new feeling if I was entirely honest.

Anticipation mixed with rapturous glee.

"Bang~" Both sword's slice through the air I was just standing in. "Oh come on~ You gotta try harder than that~" I stood directly under the spotlight, begging them both to come get some. "Pyrrha, ready?" The Blonde asked as he started to approach me. "Ready." And our resident invincible girl smiled, rather unlike the calm, kind-hearted girl I'd come to know.

"Oh~? You're approaching me?" I leaned back, letting my arms spread. "Instead of running away, you're coming right to me?" I couldn't help myself, I really couldn't. This was probably the only moment I'd get to actually use the reference, even if no one else would get it.

"Uhh… Yeah, we can't fight if we don't get close?" Jaune was clueless to my jojo fuckery, and Pyrrha just looked like a particaruaily hungry lioness seeing prey.

"Never mind my mussing of old thing's you wouldn't understand~ Now! Come at me with all you got."

*CHICK*

Ebony and Ivory raised, even if they were mere replicas, they'd survive the coming bout… At least I hope so~

-[ LINE BREAK ]-

"Man…"

I sat on the edge of the stage, looking at the pistols resting in my hands and the crumbly pieces that had started to fall through the cracks of my grip.

"I'm Sorry!" Pyrrha had continually appologized after the breaking of not just my Sword but my guns as well, though I somewhat expected this to happen what with me effectively 'Reselling' them to all and still being able to keep them in reality.

They lost the durability and devil imbued bullshit that made them useable for me. "It's Pyrrha, they've had so much stress put on them that they were bound to break." Jaune was still taking his me damn nap, I shoved down his face after slamming him around with some kicks and breaking his aura with my guns before they crumbled from my grip strength. "Besides, these are just replicas."

I didn't pull out my Beryl nor my Cavaliere.

"But still-!" I put a finger to her lips, causing yet another flaming tomato incident.

"It's fine, Pyrrha, I just gotta procure some new weapons…" I didn't particularly feel like visiting my asshole of a Warlock Patron, but I suppose visiting him to take some missions to get some new gear wouldn't be bad…

Invincible girl looked to hem something over for a moment before lightly placing a hand on my shoulder and determination in her heart. "I'll help pay for the replacements." … Wasn't expecting that.

"Pyrrha, it's fine, besides, we don't exactly have access to .45 ARTWARKS this side of the world." Nor a time machine, and I don't really wanna take someone elses weapons… I wanna make my own… "Besides~" I let her hand slip down my arm as I stood up with a small smile. "This is the perfect chance for me to try crafting my own weapon."

And I knew exactly what type of materials I wanted to use in their creation processes.

"But still, I want to repay you somehow for accidentally break your weapons…" It was my turn to offer a comforting hand on the shoulder.

"Pyrrha, invincible girl and love stricken puppy." There's the tomato~ "If you truly wanna help me, teach me about mecha shift weapons, okay?" I could've asked Ruby for help on this, but I had a feeling that bonding with my team's resident Amazon would wield better results and that i wouldn't spend an entire just geeking out with another classmate about weapons and their designs.

"Alright." Determind again…

"Now help me move this slab of meat wall back to our dorm so we don't have to worry about him possibly waking up with a concussion and find himself all alone, okay?" I stepped back up onto the stage, grabbing one of his arms and pulling him up as gently as I could.

Black outlines the metal of his armour and weapons, making him feel like he weighed less. "Thank you~" It made it much easier to not just rip and arm off or out of socket, and I was able to manuver his arm around my neck for better support. "Tall ass fuck…" I grumbled, because he was just that bit taller than me.

His feet dragged across the ground and Pyrrha came up from the other side, helping stabilize him, but had to crouch down… She was the tallest member of our team…

"Why are you two, so damn tall?" She broke out into a fit of laughter, and I honestly felt better.

The fight wasn't long, it wasn't really much of an exercise, but… It was fun to clash against Pyrrha's skills with brute strength and come out to a draw on account of broken weapons.

Today was a good day.
