Chapter 30: Land of Waterfalls
Seeing Jiraiya's appearance, Dosuke raised his right hand and gave a thumbs-up in response.
"Okay, kid, rest," Jiraiya said, jumping onto the tree trunk.
Dosuke lifted his backpack and jumped onto the tree trunk.
The two of them had nothing to say all night, and dawn broke.
Just as Jiraiya got up and jumped off the tree trunk, Dosuke beside him also turned over and jumped down.
"Gone," Jiraiya said, noticing the morning light.
Seeing Dosuke finish packing, Jiraiya greeted him and took the lead to walk forward.
Dosuke followed Jiraiya behind.
*Swish, swish, swish!*
The two figures stretched their arms back and ran quickly through the forest of the Land of Fire.
The non stop rush all morning allowed Jiraiya and Dosuke to reach the border of the Land of Fire by noon.
Dosuke looked at the boundary marker and glanced at Jiraiya with some doubt.
"Ahead is the Land of Waterfalls, and Minato's team is doing missions here."
"Summoning Technique"
A fist-sized toad wearing a purple vest appeared in the summoning formation.
As soon as the toad appeared, it jumped up along Jiraiya's legs.
It hopped to Jiraiya's shoulder after a few leaps, then extended its front paw. "Lord Jiraiya, long time no see."
After speaking, it turned and greeted Dosuke.
"Okay, Gama. I'm here to find Minato. Where is he?" Jiraiya said, looking at the toad on his shoulder.
"Are you looking for Minato? Then follow me."
Gama jumped from Jiraiya's shoulder.
*Snap*
Gama, mid-jump, was caught by Jiraiya.
"Do you still remember the last time you led the way, and it took three hours for a three-minute trip? This time, I won't bother you to lead. Just stay on my shoulder and point the way," Jiraiya said, frowning at the toad in his hand.
Gama grinned. "Okay, Lord Jiraiya, but could you let me go first? I'm finding it hard to breathe."
"Sorry, sorry, I got carried away," Jiraiya said, placing Gama back on his shoulder.
Gama, a scout toad from Mount Myoboku, has a unique tracking ability. It can sense the general direction of those marked with its secretion, no matter the distance!
"Go straight ahead."
Jiraiya ran directly in the direction specified by Gama, with Dosuke following.
"Turn right."
"Turn left."
"Straight..."
After a short distance.
Jiraiya and Dosuke stopped at the gate of a manor.
"Lord Jiraiya, Lord Minato is in this manor," Gama said, pointing at the door.
"Okay, thank you for your hard work, Gama."
*Bang*
Gama lifted the summoning spell.
"Why is Minato in this garden?" Jiraiya said, looking at the luxurious manor before him, crossing his arms with his hands forming an eight-shape with his index fingers and thumbs, gently rubbing his chin.
"Kid, let's go check it out. Minato was once marked with Gama's secretion. It can't be wrong," Jiraiya said, instantly jumping onto the wall and calling to Dosuke.
"Okay." Dosuke also jumped onto the wall in an instant.
The two kept moving back and forth across the manor's rooftops.
"Sensei, are we really going to send Fuu back? The mission I received in the village was only to send her to the Land of Waterfalls!" a boy with a mask and short silver-white hair said.
"Kakashi, she is the only one left with this child. You have to understand that if we don't help send her back, she will be captured. I don't care what happens otherwise," a ninja in a vest sitting in the room replied.
"Lord Minato, our task has been completed. There's no need to waste time, manpower, or resources on extra duties," Kakashi said firmly.
"Kakashi, how can you be so cold-hearted, you jerk? Fuu has no family left. If we abandon her, she'll die on the way home," a teenager with orange goggles rushed toward Kakashi, challenging him firmly.
Facing Obito charging at him, Kakashi crossed his arms and replied calmly, "I've made it clear, our mission is over. Whether she lives or dies is her fate."
"Kakashi, you..." Obito clenched his fists tightly, glaring at Kakashi.
"Obito, Kakashi, stop this. Obito's right, if we leave, Fuu will be taken by those ninjas," a female ninja with two purple stripes on her cheeks said, watching the tense exchange.
"See, Rin agrees with me! Hahahaha!" As soon as Rin spoke, Obito placed his hands on his hips and laughed loudly.
"..." Kakashi stared at the smirking Obito before him.
"Kakashi, a ninja can't always put missions first. Who's there?" Before Minato could finish, he heard faint footsteps on the roof tiles.
*Whoosh.*
Here, Dosuke and Jiraiya climbed over the wall and entered the manor. Jumping onto the roof, they each scouted the buildings, trying to locate Minato.
As Dosuke ran across a roof, he faintly heard an argument below about someone being cold-hearted.
Dosuke didn't think much of it. He instantly activated his water technique, transforming his body and landing directly on the roof where the voices came from.
Just as Dosuke prepared to scout.
A strangely shaped kunai shot out from the room beneath his feet.
The kunai pierced through where Dosuke had been standing.
Immediately after, Minato appeared in mid-air and grabbed the specially made kunai.
*Swish, swish, swish.*
Three more Flying Thunder God kunai were thrown toward Dosuke.
"Water Release: Water Bullet" A focused chakra water shot fired from Dosuke's hand, deflecting the Flying Thunder God kunai.
"Water Release: Water Fang Bullet" A high-pressure water stream shot forward, slicing through another Flying Thunder God kunai and splitting it in two.
Using water release beneath his feet, Dosuke hurriedly retreated.
A figure in a green vest appeared behind Dosuke, holding the last Flying Thunder God kunai. The sharp blade pressed tightly against the artery in Dosuke's neck.
Dosuke froze in place.
Minato held the Flying Thunder God kunai against Dosuke's neck.
"Minato..." A voice shouted from afar.
