Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign

Chapter 327: Slaughtering Demons

Chapter 327: Slaughtering Demons

A cylindrical frame with the width of the whole of Quartez shot beyond the clouds.

As it did, mana in the atmosphere was being sucked in, sent down upon the barrier like rain drops.

Each drop made the barrier a tiny bit brighter.

With so many drops at once, the barrier brightened at the speed of the naked eye.

Absorbing mana from the surroundings would do good in the short term, but it was unsustainable for the long term.

Eventually, the mana in the surroundings would thin out, and the absorption rate would dwindle.

In hindsight, absorbing from the atmosphere made for a far better idea.

Like clouds, atmospheric mana would be constantly replenished, allowing for a steady stream of mana ready to be absorbed.

Zydrax groaned, feeling the heart faltering as he replenished his mana reserves to the fullest.

The troops below were also energized, having recovered their mana completely, they were bursting with energy.

Energy Zydrax was happy to help them spend.

Automating the mana absorption process by layering a dozen other magic circles, he detached his arm from the barrier as he descended till he was five meters from the ground.

A small magic circle formed in front of his mouth, acting as a voice changer and loud speaker.

"Warriors" he called, his voice booming.

It practically commanded their attention.

"We have felled all the demons that dared try to usurp us of our land!"

They nodded.

"But is that enough?" He asked, answering after a short pause. "No, it is not! Look around you, the corpses of every citizen of this kingdom were slaughtered to fulfil their selfish intentions!"

They were successfully rattled, with many staring daggers at Fressia who lay binded in metal.

She didn’t even act like she felt it. It was all too common throughout her time in the demonic cult, and there’s felt worse.

Frederick hadn’t told anyone about their relationship except for Ezra.

He had simply told them he needed to extract information from here, laying their bloodlust at bay.

"We must not let this be! Who here seeks to spill blood on our fallen brothers?!"

Thanks to Zydrax’s words, their bloodlust erupted.

"Me"

"I do"

"I will avenge my brothers!"

Zydrax nodded, he didn’t need to do much to get them riled up.

"I will give you all the chance to pay the demons back tenfold! Follow me!"

They erupted in frenzied cheers and tailed Zydrax as he flew towards the circle of descent.

Having gained control of it, Zydrax had reversed most of its functions.

Rather than transport demons into Orion, he could now transport Oranians into the demon realm.

Reaching it, Zydrax put his hand forward, and the formation began glowing as the formation widened in size, shocking the others.

If it was enough for two Alvarach’s to go through at once before, now twenty Alvarach’s would go through and there was still enough space to twirl and turn.

The troops were shocked, but Zydrax wasn’t even done.

The formation encapsulated darkness, signifying the void, using another the last portion of the dark energy he gathered, he successfully connected both worlds.

In any case, he would be getting more, much more, very soon.

The black space was erased as the demon world came into view.

With the red soil bathed in blood daily, it hardened, cracking in many places to have lava flow like water.

Its entire atmosphere reeked of doom and gloom.

Then, the troops saw swarms and swarms of demons, either bickering, quarrelling or fighting.

They gulped, feeling extremely threatened as their earlier bravado faded.

Hopefully, it wasn’t what they were thinking...

Noticing their gazes, Zydrax spoke, while simultaneously imbuing a few magic circles on top of the formation.

"Their atmosphere is hostile to humans, entering would put us at a disadvantage"

To which the majority nodded.

"Instead. I shall hold the portal for you to let out your greatest attacks on these fiends" his voice boomed. "I have made sure they will be unable to cross over while you’re doing so"

Everyone’s eyes lit up.

Having already feared the possibility of entering, this was a far better scenario.

Just as they started communicating with their eyes, someone suddenly attacked.

It was Frederick.

He sent down large boulders into the swarm of low level demons, crushing thousands in one go.

Cabrera joined, using his earth affinity to send down a few boulders of his own.

While Jebas started spinning, sending down lightning bolts intermittently.

With them at the helm, the others joined with a fevered rush, sending down attacks as if competing.

Zydrax in his part, kept moving the portal on the other end to places congested with demons.

They let out all their frustrations and all other pent up emotions through their attacks.

With Quartez continually filled with mana, the peak masters were able to recover their mana in less than five minutes after completely spending it.

Grandmasters took less than ten minutes.

As such, demons ran helter-skelter to avoid the calamity wrought upon them.

Those who sought to attack found themselves dead before they could even reach the portal.

Three Grandmaster ranked demons had died like such.

For six good hours, they indulge in indiscriminate slaughter, killing more than eighty million demons, with most of them being low level scrubs.

Compared to the overall population of demons, it was the same as a drop of water from a bucket.

It only made sense, demons killed one another to grow. Their primal instincts were destruction and enslaved and they were spawned from the planet itself.

They numbered at least eighty billion, with at least five million demons dying on a daily basis and as even more were born.

Moreover, despite this, high level combatants were scarce.

As to how such a thing was even sustainable? That was a question for a later time.

After the seventh hour, Zydrax felt a repulse towards the formation.

’I guess this is as far as I take it’

With the planet’s will taking action, it would be unwise to continue.

He gave a rare smile. It had been a most worthwhile harvest.

Also, no matter if their mana was continuously replenished, even peak masters had limits.

Right now, many of the peak masters had reached that limit and the Grandmasters had done more than enough.

It was time to close up the party.

Without warning, the formation closed up, returning to the former darkness as it shrunk even further back than its initial state.

Putting on a show, Zydrax held his knees.

"This is as far as I can go" he said, faking deep breaths.

The troops looked at him, their respects raised by many levels.

Many of them inwardly rejoiced as they had almost reached their limits as well.

Then, he stood straight once again.

"Gentlemen. I’m in need of much rest, so I will have you all excuse me"

They nodded, straining their gazes towards any nearby buildings to sleep.

Seeing their misunderstanding, Zydrax clarified.

"I will need you all to exit the barrier"

"...."

"...."

"...."

They made faces of incomprehension.

After all that, you want to kick us out?

With neither the obligation nor desire to explain himself, he simply spoke a few more words.

"Brace yourselves"

They looked at one another, wondering what he was talking about when Zydrax raised his hands towards the circle of descent.

Taking a last survey of everyone, he closes his eyes, accessing the barrier.

Opening them, mana began to coalesce in his hands and then, he clapped, sending a wave of mana towards the formation.

Right after, a wave of mana blew from the opposite end of the barrier.

It reached where Zydrax and co stood and promptly carried the majority of them away, Grandmasters included.

Like a wall, they were unable to phase the wave of mana nor were they able to stop it before being thrown out the other end of the barrier, in the direction of the town.

Most of them literally bit dust, as the inertia sent into the ground.

In denial, they approached the barrier, but found it hardened.

The meaning was clear, they had been kicked out and they should stay out.

After a bout of runts, grunts and complaints, they went to the town, already exhausted from spamming attacks for hours.

With six hours having passed, it was after sunset and then, their mana recovery had gone back to depressing normalcy.

Inside the barrier, the few spared the fate were speechless at Zydrax’s actions, not that anyone dared criticize him.

With another clap, another wave erupted, this time it erupted from the direction the troops were thrown out of.

It cleared out all the ruined houses, carrying destroyed buildings along with all rubble from broken buildings with it.

Some Peak masters shielded themselves, awaiting their fate of being thrown out when the mana wave simply passed through them, and flung the rubble out of Quartez before fading away.

Tapping his chin, Zydrax sought to create another mana wave, before cancelling it midway.

He spoke to the present convocation.

"Everyone, please rise above ground"

This time, lest those who couldn’t, the rest gladly conceded.

Without another word, he adjusted the barrier to land a barrier directly onto his own being, concentrating half of the absorbed mana on himself.

"Huddle together" he told those unable to fly and then designated a small dome shaped barrier to cover them.

With that done, he takes a breath and stomps the ground.

A light red magic circle erupted from his feet and expanded faster than a balloon.

Those in the air couldn’t help but wonder what he was trying to achieve.

In ten minutes, it reached the barrier’s end.

Upon doing so, Zydrax closes his eyes, seeing through the expanded magic circle.

Then, he began to snap his fingers.

With each snap, a corpse was set aflame.

He’d first thought to dispose of them outside of Quartez, before deciding against it.

They had been unfairly massacred.

As such, the best he could do was to gracefully send their bodies away, and not let it desecrate any longer.

With every snap of his finger, they lit up one by one, like torches in the night, turning to ash before fluttering away.

At the same time, it reminded Ezra who was looking at Zydrax’s eyes why he’d been fighting.

That instant, the meaning of his win against Alvarach became all the more powerful.

Memories of the apocalypse played in his mind.

The scenes of carnage and destruction were more vivid for some reason.

He wasn’t going to let it happen like such in this life!

A fire lit in his heart, a fire not of vengeance, but of protection.

He didn’t know what Zydrax planned, but it didn’t look like he would be dying today.

There was still much to be done.
