RISE OF EROS

CHAPTER 790

Crhono's sudden appearance surprised not only Luza but also Samanuel and the other angels, as they had never expected him to appear in their territory without warning, much less in a situation like this.

Although surprised, it only took a second for them to understand that Crhono must have been watching them, so he could appear at this very moment when they were facing a dire situation like this.

This made them feel bitter, but they couldn't blame him for anything, as his presence would at least be a help. Samanuel and the other angels didn't know the reason why Crhono was watching them, but they were sure he would help them.

The reason was simple. He couldn't allow the remains of the god they were guarding to fall into unscrupulous hands, and one look at Luza was enough to tell that he was one of those people who couldn't be allowed to obtain it.

Luza, for his part, was a little uneasy. Crhono's appearance was something that never occurred to him, because if the angels who had been here for a long time hadn't noticed the young dragon watching over them, much less him, who had barely arrived.

The young dragon Crhono, entrusted with this task, was extremely stealthy, as not even someone of Samanuel's level could have noticed him. It must also be said that the extensive surveillance measures in this place had benefited him.

It's true that the young dragon is very stealthy, being able to outwit people much more powerful than he, but it was all relative. It depended on his intention and distance; it wasn't as if he could sneak up and attack Samanuel or some of these powerful angels, for example.

He would be instantly discovered, as his intention to attack or kill would betray him. Furthermore, if he got close enough to them, he would also be discovered, as the senses of the powerful are not something to be underestimated.

In fact, if Samanuel had maintained constant vigilance, extending his divinity to this place, he might have discovered him, as the difference in their powers was too great. However, as the angels relied too heavily on the defense and detection matrix they had in their territory, they never took additional measures, and therefore never discovered the young dragon.

Their complacency toward this matrix had made them overconfident. They cannot be blamed, for the matrix is connected to the body of the deceased god they guard, and there is nothing more powerful than that in this world—only equivalents, and they were also the bodies of gods who died in the war a millennium ago.

They would not even have suffered Luza's current attack if they hadn't been so confident, as they could have detected it earlier and avoided the situation they were in now.

However, all of this was irrelevant for the moment. Luza assessed her possibilities and thought of escape plans as quickly as she could. That's right; she had already abandoned her ambitions and thought only of escaping.

From the moment he saw Crhono, he knew he had no chance of winning this battle. Before Crhono could say anything else, Luza threw several spheres into the air, near Crhono, Samanuel, and the other angels.

It was his final card in case things got complicated. These were all the corrupted beasts he had in his possession, and his plan was simple: Release them and escape in the ensuing chaos.

He was clear that these beasts were no threat to Crhono and the others. Even Samanuel and the other angels, who were tired from the constant battles, wouldn't lose to them.

Even so, he had released more than 50 beasts. Their number was high, and their strength was considerable; they might not have been a danger to Crhono and the others, but a distraction was enough for Luza.

The appearance of the beasts immediately alerted everyone. Samanuel and the angels actually wrinkled their faces in bitterness at the sight of so many beasts appearing. They were weaker than the ones that had appeared before, but there were many of them.

The beasts didn't even faze Crhono. He had already received a report about them from the young dragon watching over the angels, so he wasn't surprised that more had appeared.

It was obvious that these beasts had been summoned by Luza, so it would be foolish to think he didn't have more at his disposal. Crhono ignored the beasts and didn't take his eyes off Luza.

Luza was surprised by this, as it was only making it difficult for him to escape. If Crhono wasn't distracted, how could he flee? Despite these thoughts, the beasts didn't listen to him; they only attacked.

These beasts had only one instinct, and that was to destroy, so they didn't care who created them, who they should attack, or what they should do; they just destroyed everything in their path as if they were a natural disaster.

While Crhono didn't want the beasts to cause too much damage, he understood the priorities. For him, the destruction of part of the angels' territory was not so heavy as to allow Luza to escape.

While the young dragon had told him everything he knew, Luza was something the young dragon was unfamiliar with. Her eyes filled with pride and greed, along with inky wings, were characteristics Crhono had never seen in angels.

He had known Samanuel and the angels for centuries, so he understood a lot about them. He knew Luza personally, so her current appearance seemed strange to him, and he needed to know everything that was happening.

Impatient, Luza made his move. It was true that Crhono hadn't been distracted, but staying any longer would only be more troublesome, so without hesitation, he moved at high speed, trying to escape.

Escaping so blatantly was stupid, as he would never escape Crhono. So, he ran toward a group of the beasts he had just released, intending to lure Crhono away.

Since the beasts hadn't managed to distract him, he had to lead them to a place where they could do so, so he ran toward the beasts without hesitation, even though he might get hurt, as these beasts didn't discriminate.

Crhono immediately understood Luza's plan, but he still had to fall for it. There were risks, but if he didn't move, Luza would surely escape, and that couldn't be allowed, so he followed at high speed.

Samanuel and the other angels, unfortunately, had no way to participate in that battle. They too wanted to stop Luza, but with so many beasts running amok, they had to mitigate the damage.

They were no longer worried about the body of the deceased god they were guarding being taken, as with Crhono's appearance, that was impossible, so they focused on eliminating the beasts.

The angels who weren't nearby also noticed the beasts that had just appeared and rushed to help. A battle between angels and demons began to rage, and the destruction spread. For his part, Crhono impeccably pursued Luza, while dodging the chaotic attacks of the beasts surrounding them. Luza fared no better, as the beasts also attacked him.

However, Crhono had a tougher time. Suddenly, Luza saw his opportunity when Crhono became distracted by one of the beasts, and then he made his move. However, it was a mistake.

Crhono hadn't been distracted; on the contrary, he had created the supposed opening to catch Luza off guard, and he succeeded. When Luza made his move, a powerful energy erupted from Crhono's body.

He didn't like unleashing his full power, for fear of being forced to ascend, but doing so for milliseconds was possible. Since time was so short, Crhono had to be sure he accomplished what he needed to.

That's why he pretended to be distracted, so Luza would relax. Then, activating his full power, he approached him and quickly subdued him. It all happened in less than a second, so no one noticed.

The beasts were still attacking where Crhono had been, not even noticing he had left. Luza was most surprised, as a moment ago he was preparing to escape, and now he was face-first into the ground, unable to move.

Crhono was standing near him, one hand raised. It was obvious he was the one subduing him, and that was the only thing Luza could understand about everything that had happened, and yet he was incredulous.

Having subdued Luza, Crhono watched the crazed beasts as if contemplating how to eliminate them, but in the end, he sighed and didn't move. It wasn't that he didn't want to help, but he couldn't afford to neglect Luza.

Just because he was subduing him, Luza couldn't move, but if he focused on the beasts, he was likely to escape, and that couldn't be allowed, so he stood by and watched as Samanuel and the others dealt with them.

It was a bit cruel, as he could see the angels falling wounded and some dead, not to mention the destruction of the place from the battle, but Crhono stood his ground and waited.

The battle didn't last long, as these beasts, though more numerous, were weaker. Although the angels were already weakened from the previous battles, they were able to eliminate the beasts.

Once the battle was over, Samanuel saw Crhono in the distance and Luza prostrate on the ground, unable to move. Crhono wasn't touching him, yet it seemed as if something was crushing him to the ground.

Samanuel looked at this scene and could only sigh in resignation. He understood that the secret of his ritual and the birth of the fallen angels could no longer be hidden, so he looked at the other angels and said, "Leave us alone."

The other angels hadn't noticed Crhono, but the higher-ups were present when he appeared, so they understood that Samanuel planned to handle this matter alone. Despite their reaction, they attended and led the other angels away.
