CHAPTER 752
It was surprising to learn that hundreds of people of different levels went in search of the beast and, without any clues, continued their search, only to be attacked from the darkness.
The terror that the beast represented was once again verified by everyone, when no matter the quantity or quality, the beast could move between the shadows and kill as if nothing was stopping it.
It was evident that people below the demigod level were no match for the beast. In fact, the beast could eliminate demigods in a careless moment, but only those at that level stood a chance.
Because of this, the kingdoms and leaders of the continent contacted the demigods they knew and asked for their help in eliminating the threat. The requests even reached the dragons.
Dragons are the most powerful force known, so everyone wanted them to make a move. It is true that Crhono had taken the initiative, but all he managed to do was scare the beast.
The leaders of the continent were frightened, for although the beast was still in the outer regions of the continent, nothing prevented it from entering and causing terror in the countries of the interior.
Even countries as proud as the northern elves, the ice elves, and the beastmen of the savannah could not remain still. They did not ask the dragons for help, but they did ask the demigods and guardians of their kingdoms.
These are world powers, so they had no shortage of people to ask for help. A curious fact is that none of the so-called guardians of these countries and races had joined the alliance of demigods that Kael, Draneg, and the others formed.
These races' pride is greater than everyone else's, so when this alliance was announced, they did not show up. They believed that if there was any threat, they could deal with it on their own.
They even laughed at the alliance. In their minds, a demigod as the most powerful being on the continent should not act like a coward and join others like ordinary people would.
To them, the demigod alliance was nothing more than a pathetic group of weaklings and scaredy-cats. While they did not profess it, it was not difficult for others to know what they were thinking, as the attitude of these races is well known.
It is for reasons like these that many dislike elves and beastmen, as they believe themselves to be superior. In fact, elves are the most disliked, as their arrogance is different from that of beastmen.
Beastmen are hot-blooded warriors and move based on honor, so it is a belief that, as warriors, battles should be one-on-one, and that is why they are more tolerable. However, elves, regardless of their ethnicity, be they forest, dark, ice, or even the light elves now considered extinct, are too proud, and that is the reason why many do not like them.
Crhono and the others understood these people very well and did not really care about their attitudes. They were not really looking for their help. It is true that it would be great to have them, but they were not indispensable either.
Crhono believed that the moment they began to suffer, they would come knocking on their doors with their ears drooping and their faces pale, asking for help, and then they would suffer the greatest humiliation of their lives, and what is worse, they would have brought it on their own.
The point is that with the request of the leaders and rulers of the continent, Crhono, the dragons, and other demigods had to help. Actually, more than for the help requested, it was because of the threat that the beast represented.
They could not allow it to continue developing, so they decided to act. They had sent their men to look for her before, to avoid alerting the beast, but now they could not be so calm.
Among the victims of the beast's last attack there were many of the people they had sent, and they could not continue sacrificing their young helpers. Also, with such a powerful lineup, it would be difficult for the beast to escape.
Obviously, not everyone went to hunt the beast. There were demigods like Zaros, Emaliene, and Elidyr who could not go since they were the defenders of their territories. Not having anyone to leave in charge in case of an attack, they decided to stay.
No one blamed them for this because they understood the importance of their homes. Especially in the case of Zaros, who had recently suffered an attack that devastated his territory, so, only those who did not have these ties went.
In short, Crhono, Kael, Asha, Draneg, and the others were the chosen ones. It can be said that it is the most formidable lineup on the continent if you exclude people like Arion, his wife Lilith, and Samanuel.
These were three of the most powerful beings on the continent. In fact, it is said that they are second only to Crhono in strength and experience, but everyone considers them dead, so their absence did not cause any problems.
Still, Andrew and Crhono were upset with Samanuel and the angels. For those who knew that they were alive, it was irritating that they did not lend their help. The case of Arion and Lilith was understandable since they had to protect the remnants of the fallen god in their power.
However, the angels do not have that excuse. It is understandable that they are few in number and do not want to reduce their numbers even further in dangerous battles like these, but at least Samanuel had to participate.
He is a powerful demigod on par with Arion, so it would not be a threat for him to participate unless something extraordinary happened. In short, it was a low-risk mission for him but a high-profit one.
If he helped, he could gain the favor of Crhono and Andrew, which was beneficial for him and the angels, but instead, they decided to remain silent, hiding their heads like ostriches.
This upset the ancestors of the dragons and Andrew. This only proved that the angels were hiding something, and it couldn't be anything good. ever since Samanuel appeared, Crhono felt that something was wrong with them.
He had known Samanuel and the angels for centuries, so he understood their characters and personalities. However, it seemed that something had changed since the war against the fallen god and his abyssals a millennium ago.
The angels were always a race of righteousness, helping those in need, always looking out for the common good. In fact, that was one of the reasons why they suffered just like the light elves during the war.
The light elves, because they were seen as a threat, were decimated, but the angels were the opposite. They actively confronted the forces of the fallen god, and that is why many of them died.
Crhono believed that this was the reason that made them change. He believed that the angels regretted helping everyone at the cost of their lives so that they would not be rewarded by anyone.
In short, the angels got tired of being the anonymous heroes and now preferred not to get involved in what did not concern them. Crhono's assumption was not wrong because that was how the angels felt.
Still, he did not explain why they did not intervene in this matter, which also concerned them. Crhono had no problem with them not being the heroes anymore, but acting like outsiders in the face of a crisis that would affect them was not normal.
This is why Crhono was on guard against them. He felt that the angels hid something more than just resentment for not being valued for their efforts, and that is why he always kept an eye on them.
With all this said, Crhono gathered his allies and went to the last place where the beast was seen and began his search. The other demigods were alert, as Crhono had already told them the characteristics of the beast.
Even with all this information, they were surprised that after 3 days, they had not been able to locate it. They even began to suspect that the beast had fled to another region.
However, Crhono did not believe it. He had the theory that the beast moved by instinct and would always appear where a powerful source of life was gathered, and there was no source more powerful than them.
It is true that the beast would not attack head-on, knowing the danger it was in, but Crhono was sure that it would try to make a sneak attack. For this reason, he decided to stay a couple of days to see if they were lucky.
Unexpectedly, Crhono was right. The beast had not left; it was just that no one could locate it. She has three instincts. The instinct to eliminate all life, the instinct to seek the source of its origin, which is the fallen god, and the instinct to survive.
While the last of these instincts screamed for him to be careful of Crhono and his group, the instinct of death still pushed him to kill them, for they were the purest source of life he had ever felt.
Although both instincts clashed, the beast still decided to attack. Under the cover of night, the beast moved like a shadow, elusive and noiseless, to Draneg's back of all people.
Since it was night, the search had been suspended, or at least the search range had been reduced, as they knew that in the darkness, the beast had too much of an advantage.
Draneg had not noticed the beast stalking him and only looked around complacently. Out of nowhere, a shadow jumped behind him, unnoticed, and just as he was about to strike, Draneg felt the threat of death.
He tried to turn to defend himself, but it was too late. Draneg could only curse in his mind, and when the beast's claws were about to deliver the decisive blow, out of nowhere, a powerful ray of flames intercepted it.
The beast managed to dodge before the flames hit it, which consequently saved Draneg from death. With cold sweat running down his back, Draneg saw his savior, and there he could see Crhono in his imposing dragon form.
Draneg bowed slightly in gratitude but quickly set his gaze on the beast. It almost killed him; he couldn't let it escape and besides, he now knew firsthand the reason why Crhono was so insistent about the threat it represented.
