Chapter 113: Fang Yuan vs Bai Ning Bing: Part Three
"Fang Yuan, you bought a Golden Moon Gu?" Qing Shu asked. There was no way that someone like him wouldn't have noticed one of the signature gu worms of the clan.
"Yes," Fang Yuan said. "I realized that my offense was lacking in certain aspects. Please help me, if we don't break this ice shell, he'll recover and strike out at us."
"Being incased in ice like that- wouldn't he die?" Qing Shu wondered.
"He likely has a defensive type gu worm that turns most of his body into ice. Actually, in this scenario, the low temperature would benefit him by accelerating the clotting rate of his blood," Fang Yuan said. Being a Blood Path Grandmaster, he naturally had a far better understanding of clotting than other people did. "We need to act quickly or he's going to counterattack with a vengeance."
This was why he had gone through the trouble of using Doctor Gu on Qing Shu in the first place. He was not confident in his ability to kill Bai Ning Bing on his own- moreover, Qing Shu's death would mean the loss of a Yellow Golden Relic Gu.
If Qing Shu died, Fang Yuan would genuinely have a sense of remorse from the event, unlike whatever fake remorse he pretended to have when describing Qing Mao's and Yao Hong's deaths.
Qing Shu's arms began to transform into vines, wrapping around the block of ice and trying to crack it open like you would a walnut.
Just as the two of them were about to succeed, the block of ice ruptured from within, turning into thousands of tiny motes of ice that dazzled about and glittered in the air. Multiple rainbows glittered on the ground as the sunlight struck them, acting as prisms that danced in the air.
Bai Ning Bing emerged and immediately his throat began to swell once again.
Rank 3 Blue Bird Ice Coffin Gu!
Fang Yuan was not about to let him use it though - every gu worm had its weakness, and the Blue Bird Ice Coffin Gu was no exception. Fang Yuan let out a golden moonblade at the bird as it was about to emerge from his mouth, but Bai Ning Bing lifted his arm to block the attack.
His left arm exploded in an icy galewind that absorbed the golden moonblade as the blue bird left, targeting Fang Yuan.
Three Step Fragrant Grass Gu!
Even though Fang Yuan moved with the help of the gu worm, the bird was locked onto its target. He activated his Rank 3 Moonlight Chainmail Gu, wrapping himself up in a layer of silvery chainmail, bracing for the blow.
Only he did not have to endure the brunt of the attack, as Qing Shu let out a vine which struck the bird midair. It exploded some distance from Fang Yuan, but he was still blinded by the ensuing icy storm.
Bai Ning Bing's head was buzzing. The wound that Fang Yuan had dealt him had not fully healed, and he had lost a large amount of blood. His primeval essence was nearly expended by that last attack, and he felt that he was on his last legs.
'Ahaha... this is the kind of life I live for!' he thought, as the nausea overcame him and he vomited out his breakfast, last night's dinner, and when that was empty, just stomach acid.
Vines had already begun to wrap around his ankles, but he slashed them away with an icy blade.
'How does he still have primeval essence after this?' Qing Shu wondered. It was as if Bai Ning Bing had something akin to the legendary Heavenly Treasure Lotus which would ensure he had limitless primeval essence.
'I... need... more... power...' Bai Ning Bing thought. The Bai Clan had tried to seal away the Northern Dark Ice Soul physique to some extent, but a lowly village like theirs had only rudimentary methods to deal with something like one of the Ten Extreme Physiques. Bai Ning Bing had removed most of them when he had started using Rank 3 gu worms, but now, he removed the last of the methods that had been placed on his aperture.
Immediately, his aperture began to fill with primeval essence. Die now, or die later- the choice was obvious!
'If I'm going down, I'm going down in flames!' Bai Ning Bing thought as his aperture began to fill with a speed that matched that of Fang Yuan's.
Qing Shu's body was once again transforming entirely into wood as he used more of the Wood Charm Gu. By this point, he had nearly given up on his own life, and made protecting Fang Yuan, who he saw as the future of the village, his main goal.
Bai Ning Bing slashed away as the icy aura among him darkened. He turned into whirlwind of frost and wind, slicing apart the vines with childish ease.
'This...!' Qing Shu couldn't help but marvel at this sight. With the full power of the Wood Charm Gu, even the elders of his clan could barely keep up with him. On top of which, his skill was top-notch as well. And yet, he was being pushed back and suppressed by Bai Ning Bing! 'Why aren't the reinforcement I asked for here yet?' was his second thought.
Although Qing Shu didn't know it, the reinforcement he had asked for had been ambushed and killed by the wolves and would not be arriving to save them.
Fang Yuan emerged from the debris of the Blue Bird Ice Coffin Gu, using Doctor Gu to heal whatever injuries he had. His defensive net was still active and his injuries minor, though this was thanks to Qing Shu's help.
Bai Ning Bing was fighting in close quarters with Qing Shu, to the point where ranged attacks could not be used.
As Bai Ning Bing forced himself forward, the vines around him became denser and denser, overcoming the layer of frost.
"Wait!" Fang Yuan cried out, wanting Qing Shu to back down. Qing Shu looked close to losing control of the Wood Charm Gu. If Qing Shu died, he'd fail in his mission- and while Qing Shu thought that Fang Yuan had expended all of his trump cards and so he needed to sacrifice himself in order to keep Fang Yuan safe, Fang Yuan still had certain pieces to play. Not that Qing Shu knew that.
This was the disadvantage of working together while keeping secrets- misunderstandings like this could easily happen.
By now, it was too late for Qing Shu, whose entire body had turned into a massive tree.
Mission failed!
Qing Shu is dead.
Bai Ning Bing's frosty aura was nowhere to be seen now, though Fang Yuan was not one to let his guard down.
He was right to be wary, as cracks appeared in the wooden cage of vines that had wrapped themselves around Bai Ning Bing. They widened, and a frost wind emerged as Bai Ning Bing cut himself through the branches.
Despite everything, he had a maniacal grin on his face as he lifted an ice balde at Fang Yuan. He had eliminated one of the players on the chess board, and that meant that Fang Yuan was alone and wide open.
As the time of his death drew nearer, Bai Ning Bing only became further invigorated. He wanted to have a true showdown against Fang Yuan. "Well? Fang Yuan? I killed all of your teammates- don't you want to avenge them? Ahahaha!"
Fang Yuan's face changed, turning into the cold visage of a demon who had long since forsaken the world.
"Yes! Yes!" Bai Ning Bing said. "That is the kind of face I wanted to see from you- I wanted to see your true face before I killed you!"
"It is truly unfortunate that you killed all of them," Fang Yuan sighed. "Now... there are no witnesses... and I have no need to hold back..." He removed a gu worm from his aperture, which looked like a cylindrical block of steel.
Bai Ning Bing's pupils instantly shrank.
Rank 4 aura!
