Restart, Spider-Man!

Chapter 185: Restart, Spider-Man! [185]

"Everyone, stop arguing and follow my lead!"

At Xia Luo's command, the six spider clones unleashed a barrage of webbing, enveloping Karun in a cocoon of silk.

Inside the writhing mass, Karun let out a furious roar, his totemic energy dissolving the restraints at an alarming rate.

Before he could break free, a dazzling streak of light descended like a meteor.

Boom!!

The ground erupted, sending arcs of electricity ripping through the air. At the center of the blast, Karun staggered, his pristine tailcoat shredded by each arc, leaving his pale skin scorched and marked.

"Argh! Curse you!!"

Karun's roar was cut short as a massive boot smashed into his face.

Bang!!

The force sent him hurtling into the fountain, shattering it on impact. The immense blow left his features a mangled mess as he struggled to his feet.

His claws extended with a metallic shing, but the crackling energy and swirling magical auras surrounding his opponents left him visibly unnerved.

Those cursed family elders had claimed Spider-Man was mere prey for the Inheritor clan.

They said devouring Spider-Man would grant unparalleled strength and eternal life.

Karun believed them and had secretly traveled across the Web of Life and Destiny to find this world's Spider-Man.

But nothing could have prepared him for this.

Seven spider totems, absurdly powerful clones, and relentless physical prowess.

Even as a predator of the Spider lineage, the overwhelming disparity in power was suffocating.

Fear crept into Karun's heart, but the clones showed no mercy.

Crackle!

Boom!!

Electric arcs and magical blasts tore through him, hurling Karun into the city streets.

"Oh my god, is that a stage actor?"

"Look at his teeth! He's a vampire from the movies!"

"Run for your lives!!"

"Wait, look—it's Spider-Man! There are so many Spider-Men!"

"Where's the metal suit? What's going on?"

Amid the panicked cries of onlookers, the six clones synchronized their webs, creating a tether that pulled them into a dive formation. One after another, they crashed down in devastating blows.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

With each impact, Karun's body sank deeper into the rubble, eventually buried beneath layers of debris.

As dust settled, the clones disappeared. Xia Luo, holding a makeshift twig like a baton, blinked in surprise.

"Did they finish before I even gave the signal?"

He tossed the twig aside, opened a portal, and stepped onto the street where the rubble lay.

In the center of the wreckage, Karun's body was crumpled in a humanoid crater. His eyes were wide, his face twisted in rage, and black blood seeped from his mouth.

His tattered tailcoat barely clung to his charred and scarred skin.

Yet, despite his battered state, the faint glow of his chest's totem persisted.

Xia Luo tilted his head, listening. Karun's heartbeat was steady, growing stronger by the second—a sign of rapid recovery.

"Wow~ That's some impressive regeneration."

Under the astonished gaze of bystanders, Xia Luo fired a web, pulling Karun into his grasp.

He clutched Karun by the throat as the vampire began to stir.

"Heh... Spider-Man, you can't kill me. I'm from the Morlun family—the undying Inheritors! Spider-Man is nothing more than our food. Prey cannot kill its predator."

Karun's confidence returned as he sneered, feeling his strength recover.

Spider-Man's clone technique had a short duration—it was impossible to kill him in such a limited window.

He fantasized about his impending victory.

Those seven spider totems would make for a feast.

Just as his imagination soared, a sandbag-sized fist suddenly loomed before his face.

Smash!!

The air cracked with the force of the punch, reducing Karun's face to pulp once more.

Before he could curse, Xia Luo drove his knee into Karun's abdomen.

Thud!!

With a sickening thump, Karun coughed up black blood, the veins around his eyes rupturing into crimson streaks.

"Ugh!"

Xia Luo released him, and Karun dropped to his knees, retching violently.

"You... cough... damn insect, I swear I'll—"

Crunch!

Karun's threats were cut off as Xia Luo stomped his head into the concrete.

"Give me back my totem power, please?" Xia Luo asked with a friendly smile.

"Haha! Dream on!" Karun snarled, his chest totem flaring with light.

The eerie suction began again.

Buzz!

Once more, Xia Luo's body froze as his spider totem energy was forcibly siphoned.

"Delicious, Spider-Man! You can't escape!"

Breaking free from Xia Luo's hold, Karun laughed triumphantly, watching as his prey seemed paralyzed.

But this time, Xia Luo had other plans.

A small spider perched on his shoulder waved its limbs frantically.

"What's that?"

Karun froze, eyeing the spider in confusion.

Pfft!

The little spider shot a web, sealing Karun's mouth.

"Mmph!!"

Karun clawed at the sticky silk, only for it to detonate with magical energy.

Boom!!

"Argh!!"

Karun stumbled back, clutching his bleeding face.

"What the hell is that thing?"

A massive shadow loomed over him.

"You're still alive?"

Karun looked up to see Xia Luo towering above him, his body radiating a deep purple glow. Beneath his suit, intricate patterns of energy pulsated ominously.

"Go ahead. Try absorbing me again," Xia Luo said, beckoning with a smirk.

Furious, Karun unleashed his suction power once more.

But this time, nothing happened.

His chest totem glowed in vain, unable to draw any energy.

"What... what's happening?"

Smirking, Xia Luo cracked his knuckles.

"Predator of Spider-Men, are you ready?"

"Ready for what?"

"Ready to die."

Boom!!

A punch, glowing with purple energy, crashed into Karun, driving him deep into the ground. His body was crushed into the earth, leaving only his head above the surface.

Karun's vision blurred as a sharp crack echoed in his ears. Darkness enveloped him.

Onlookers gasped in horror at the sight of Spider-Man holding Karun's severed head.

Xia Luo, unbothered, crushed the head with a squeeze.

Buzz.

As strands of glowing totem energy drifted from Karun's remains, they coalesced into a spider totem and merged into Xia Luo's chest.

The bat totem attempted to escape, but Xia Luo's spider totem wasn't about to let it go.

Magical webs shot out, dragging the bat totem into Xia Luo's body. His spider totem now gleamed brighter than ever.

"It's over."

Without a glance at the dried, headless corpse, Xia Luo stepped through a portal and vanished.

---

In the shadows, a man watched, trembling.

"A vampire... an immortal being.

"He can cure my disease!"

Before police arrived, the man crept forward to collect samples from Karun's remains.

Nearby, Erik and Charles exchanged uneasy glances.

"This guy's far stronger than we thought. I don't think we should keep following him," Erik said.

"I agree," Charles replied.

Above them, a crimson blur streaked through the sky.

A floating Wanda landed, her hair billowing as she issued a cold command.

"Our leader has new orders: gather all mutants and form the Brotherhood to oppose humanity."

"SHIELD?" Charles asked.

Wanda nodded. "Them included."

Erik frowned. "SHIELD has mutants too. Should we try turning them?"

Wanda's expression softened briefly.

"They're not mutants. Strictly speaking, they're enhanced humans—a human force."

"Understood." Erik nodded, pulling Charles along as they departed.

In the alley, Wanda's crimson aura dissipated.

Buzz.

A streak of silver flashed, revealing Pietro, who leaned against the wall, frowning.

"The leader said Erik is Magneto... and our father. This doesn't sit right with me."

Wanda shook her head.

"Even if it's true, he doesn't know us now."

Pietro shrugged. "I don't remember him either. And the timeline doesn't add up—Erik died on the battlefield. If he had kids, they'd be older than us."

Wanda nodded, her gaze distant.

"I suspect they're from another world... someone is helping him."

"The god of time manipulation?" Pietro muttered. "I overheard their talks—it's too complicated. We should plan for ourselves."

Wanda sighed, giving him a weary look.

"Yes, we're caught in a dangerous storm. Apocalypse's Four Horsemen won't shield us, and their real target is Spider-Man.

"We can't keep following their orders."

"So," Pietro grinned mischievously

"How about we change sides?"

Wanda: "..."

Elsewhere, Eisen Apartments.

Returning home, Xia Luo paused at the sight of Wade curled up on the couch, cradling a baby-sized Kingpin as they both slept soundly.

Why on Earth had he brought Kingpin here?

Xia Luo shook his head, deciding not to disturb them.

Entering his room, he picked up his phone and dialed Carter.

"It's me. A strange guy showed up after you left."

"I know. A vampire," Carter replied.

Xia Luo shook his head. "It's more complicated than that. He's from another universe, and his goal is to hunt Spider-Men."

"Hunt?" Carter's tone shifted. "Speaking of hunting Spider-Men, I wanted to talk to you about Sergei."

"What about him?"

"He escaped—rescued by Coulson."

"Hmm?"

Xia Luo's brow furrowed. After a moment of thought, he asked, "Coulson was fake?"

"Exactly. It was Sergei's brother in disguise. That guy's the Chameleon."

"I know him. He's that sneaky bastard who got me once."

Xia Luo sighed. "The Chameleon isn't much of a threat, but that vampire is different.

"They're from a family—a clan. The one I encountered was just a fringe member, not too hard to handle. But the true Inheritor family is a different story."

He added sternly, "Their target is me. If you encounter them, do not engage directly."

His tone was so serious that Carter couldn't help but frown.

"Sounds like trouble."

"It is. They're the natural predators of Spider-Men."

"Natural predators?"

"Yeah. But not my predator."

"You are Spider-Man."

"Well, not always."

"What does that mean?"

Carter pressed, but her questions were met with silence.

"Hello? Are you still there?"

"Hello? Xia Luo?"

The phone lay blinking on the bed in an empty room.

---

Meanwhile, at Empire State University.

In the maple forest, sunlight pierced through the dense canopy, casting a golden glow. Perched on a branch, Xia Luo squinted at the blinding rays and instinctively raised a hand to shield his eyes.

"Morning already?"

"No. It's just an old friend dropping by."

At the familiar voice, Xia Luo opened his eyes, spotting Lizard Parker reverting to his human form while casually getting dressed.

Xia Luo: "..."

Scanning the area, Xia Luo realized this wasn't his world.

"What did you do?" he asked.

Grinning, Lizard Parker replied, "Revival tournament's extra reward—I chose the 'Spider-Man Friendship' package."

Xia Luo's face twitched.

Did this mean he'd been summoned like a pet?

"Fine, four-legged charmer. Since I'm here for an hour, what are you treating me to?"

"I'm broke."

Lizard Parker shrugged as he adjusted his clothes. "Actually, I'm in trouble. I need your help."

Xia Luo smirked and leaned back against the branch, admiring the fiery red foliage.

"That's gonna cost you extra."

Lizard Parker wasn't fazed. "You'll see soon enough," he said, sitting beside Xia Luo.

"How've you been?"

"Decent. Just invested in a visual effects company. Soon, I'll be rolling in cash."

"Wait, what?"

Lizard Parker's face contorted with envy. "Where'd you get the money for that?"

"I discovered New York's richest man's secret, so I got a very generous hush fee."

"Boohoo~ I'm so jealous," Lizard Parker whined, tears of frustration welling up.

Before Xia Luo could retort, the rustling of leaves drew their attention.

Two familiar figures swung clumsily into view, their webs crisscrossing the forest canopy.

"Spider-Men?"

Xia Luo eyed the crude costumes of the duo with a bemused expression.

"This isn't your world, is it?"

Lizard Parker shrugged. "Of course not. After the revival, Gwen got sucked into a black hole. When I tried to save her, I got dragged into this world."

Hearing this, Xia Luo fell silent, deep in thought.

Ahead, the two Spider-Men collided mid-swing, tumbling to the ground in a tangled heap.

"Oh, what a terrible showing for Spider-Men," Xia Luo muttered, shaking his head.

But before the duo could recover, the maple leaves above rustled violently. From the canopy, green tentacles burst forth, lashing toward the hapless pair.

"Doctor Octopus?" Xia Luo raised a brow.

Lizard Parker wagged his finger with a smirk. "Nope. It's Doctor Otto—but female."

"Lady Otto?"

Xia Luo's curiosity piqued. "So, this is that universe?"
