Chapter 807: Tess
With Xu Feng starting off the conversation with a bang and sarcastic remark, completely fearless, the two people in the meeting room were silent.
Tess had heard of Xu Feng's conduct in the Divine World. Therefore, she understood how crazy the person in front of them was despite his ordinary appearance.
'He thrashed his guild's own elite member publicly and caused a bloody massacre from the recent incident. How am I supposed to deal with him?' Tess was not ready to face someone who had no fear or respect toward the Green Life Corp.
Although there were many who disliked or were dissatisfied with the Green Life Corp, none of them actually openly showed their dissatisfaction. It was the unspoken rule to never break off one's facade unless one wished to have no reconciliation chance.
Time slowly passed by, and Xu Feng repeatedly tapped his fingers on the table. He was clearly waiting for them to give him a response.
'They better not take me for some easy person to fool.' Xu Feng sneered inwardly. On the surface, he was a youngster, but mentally, he was on par with the slyness of Sylvan.
In the past timeline, Sylvan was starting to feel the strain of his age biting at him.
He didn't show any interest in the Divine World until he was persuaded by his secretary, Tess, who gradually succeeded over him in taking most of the management rights of Green Life Corp, to join the Divine World for recovery.
Sylvan quickly became an expert and appeared more vigorous since then.
The Green Life Corp also took a sharp rise thanks to Sylvan's involvement, but he remained content with the Divine World and refused to take back the work from Tess.
There were many interviews between the two, with Tess constantly complaining about Sylvan being shrewd and refusing to work to catch up to her progress in the Divine World.
It was just a shame that Xu Feng never actually got to interact with them.
He was swamped with the Reaver Guild work and could barely touch upon those in the high-up.
Thus, Xu Feng found it comical how he could meet eye-to-eye with them now.
…
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Sylvan decided to speak up on behalf of Tess.
"The matters in the Divine World are indeed our oversight and fault. The main culprit has already been sent to the authorities and will be in prison for at least 20 years for embezzlement."
"Yeah, I know. Frederick, right?" Xu Feng yawned and was not interested in a small character like Frederick.
His complete disregard and subtle revelation of the name caused Sylvan to narrow his eyes.
'Just how informative is the Vanguard Guild?' Sylvan wondered silently. He had purposely concealed the name of Frederick, but it was clear that Xu Feng already knew about him.
Meanwhile, Tess whispered something to Sylvan's ear.
"President, it's probably the imprisoned members of the Vegan Life that revealed the information to him." She said in a very low audible tone.
Unfortunately for Tess though, Xu Feng's hearing ability was quite amazing.
Despite her barely audible tone, he could easily hear it as if someone was speaking to him directly. Nevertheless, he feigned ignorance and remained carefree.
There was no need to expose the fact that he could easily eavesdrop on them. It was never good to let them realize their sense of security was flawed.
A second later, Sylvan cleared his throat and put on a solemn expression.
"What do you seek from us? A public apology would be impossible. But I'm willing to compensate for the physical and mental damages done to you and your guild." He said calmly.
"Physical and mental damage?" Amused, Xu Feng smirked coldly and crossed his legs.
"Mister Sylvan, you really have no knowledge about the Divine World." He continued and shifted his gaze to Tess. If he calculated it right and the timeline wasn't altered, then Tess should have been playing in the Divine World and dabbled in quite a few activities already.
By shifting his gaze to someone knowledgeable, then the effect would be dramatic. Only those who understood the value of the Divine World would understand the damages dealt to the Vanguard Guild was no small matter.
It could be said the current situation Green Life Corp was facing was equivalent to Vanguard Guild's predicament when the incident occurred.
Sure enough, Tess tried to keep her calm but failed to do so. However, as a secretary for Sylvan for a long time, she managed to compose herself and held a stern expression as a facade.
She then gazed at Xu Feng and asked, "I'm sure Mister Feng didn't come all the way here to simply talk about compensation, so how about you just state your reason?"
"Can you make the decision?" Xu Feng didn't answer right away and instead changed the topic. He wanted to confirm whether Tess was starting to transition to a bigger role or was still in the probationary period.
Tess wanted to open her mouth to speak but got interrupted by Sylvan.
"Tess is now the Chief of External Development. Her decision is what Green Life Corp represents." Sylvan declared, essentially making her position official.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng narrowed his eyes in response. 'So it seems like the butterfly effect did happen.'
In the past timeline, it took Tess a while before her position became official. But thanks to his action, he hastened the development and caused Tess to have her position solidified.
After all, it became quite obvious that Frederick managed to hold on to his position for a period before being booted out. Unfortunately, with the matter escalating to this scale, Frederick had been exiled.
However, Xu Feng did not regret a single thing and even if he knew about the outcome, he would still make the same choice.
He took a deep breath and exhaled softly. "First, compensation is definite in both the real world and the Divine World. Second, I don't care for some dumb public apology because I believe in actions. I want you to reveal the truth that the matter was caused by Malefic Order Guild aka Maleficent Limited. Lastly, I want you to provide me with a large batch of Life Water."
