Reincarnated Into a Pokémon World and Can See Their Hidden Potential?!

Chapter 81: Strengths Revealed, Shadows Unleashed

The sun filtered through the crystal dome of the Celadon Grand Arena, casting a gentle glow over the tournament stage. The crowd hummed with anticipation as the round of Top 12 continued—this time, featuring one of the tournament's rising stars.

Match: Kira Damos vs. Leo FjordFormat: 3v3 – Victory to the last Pokémon standing.

Ray sat in the competitors' booth, eyes locked on the battlefield as Kira stepped into position. Her posture was steady, confident—not arrogant, but centered. This was her proving ground.

Across from her stood Leo Fjord, a serious trainer from the northern provinces. His team was known for adaptability and layered tactics.

The referee signaled. "Begin!"

"Machoke, you're up!"

Kira's partner roared to life, fists raised and body tense.

"Liepard, let's start smooth," Leo called, releasing a shadowy feline Pokémon, its movement fluid and evasive.

The first exchange was swift—Liepard darting around Machoke's blows with agility, striking from behind and vanishing into the trenches. But Kira kept her voice calm, her eyes calculating.

"Read the rhythm. Don't chase—anchor yourself."

Machoke stopped trying to follow and instead waited, allowing Liepard to overcommit before slamming a crushing Karate Chop into its flank. Liepard tumbled and didn't recover.

One down.

Leo didn't flinch.

"Camerupt."

A wall of molten heat entered the battlefield. Ray tensed. Bad matchup.

The battle tipped. Camerupt launched waves of lava and shockwaves from the earth. Machoke held on but was eventually brought to one knee.

"Come back," Kira said, returning her Pokémon. "It's your turn—Tyrogue!"

The little Fighter appeared, not as intimidating, but sharp-eyed and quick. The crowd murmured.

Ray smiled. Good choice.

Tyrogue danced through Camerupt's sluggish flames, landing repeated strikes that wore down the giant camel. It was close—but a well-timed Feint ended it.

"Two to one," Ray whispered. "She has the lead."

Leo's final choice emerged:

"Cloyster."

A tank. The defense was almost absurd.

Kira hesitated briefly, then made her call.

"Tyrogue, hold on. This isn't your fight. Machoke, one more time."

Wounded but proud, Machoke returned.

What followed was a clash of attrition—Cloyster using spikes and barrages of icy shards, while Machoke endured, striking at hinges and weak points with focused blows.

And finally—with a palm strike that echoed through the arena—Cloyster cracked.

"Kira Damos is victorious!"

Cheers erupted as Kira raised a fist, smiling only when Machoke turned to her and nodded, exhausted but undefeated.

Ray was still smiling when the next match was announced.

Match: Donovan Lux vs. Vick Renshaw

Ray's expression hardened.

Donovan walked in calmly, his face a mask. No excitement. No expression. Just calculation.

His first Pokémon? Hydreigon.

The battle was over quickly.

Vick's Pokémon fell one after another—defeated cleanly but not respectfully. Hydreigon ignored recall signals and injured Vick's last Pokémon beyond the necessary.

The referee stepped in late.

Boos echoed from the audience. Some gasped. A few clapped uncomfortably.

Donovan just stared as Hydreigon finally returned to its Pokéball. No remorse. No pride. Nothing.

Ray's fists clenched.

"That's who I fight next…"

Kira joined him moments later, wiping sweat from her brow, a bottle of water in hand. "You saw?"

He nodded. "Yeah. I saw."

Kira's smile faded. "Be careful, Ray. He fights like he doesn't care who gets hurt."

Ray exhaled, watching the final stats update on the holo-screen.

Upcoming Match: Ray Virel vs. Donovan Lux

He turned to her.

"Then I'll make him care."
