Chapter 77: Silver Serpent vs. Iron Titan

Third Stage – Round of 12 – Ray Virel vs. Lance StrathmoreMatch 1: Dragonair vs. Aggron

The arena trembled with anticipation.

From the twelve remaining competitors, six battles would decide who advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Intermediate Trainer Tournament. Every seat in the Celadon Dome was filled. On the main screen, two names flashed:

Ray VirelLance Strathmore

The battlefield transformed, morphing into a rugged Mountain Plateau stage—sharp cliffs, uneven ground, sparse vegetation, and crumbling ledges. It was a battlefield where raw defense and terrain control could shine.

Ray exhaled slowly. He stepped forward as the crowd murmured.

On the opposite side, Lance Strathmore stood tall. His expression wasn't arrogant—just cold and calculating. His reputation preceded him; many believed he'd reach top four with ease.

"Let's see if the hype is real," Lance muttered as he tossed his Pokéball.

A massive silver blur hit the ground with a thunderous crash—Aggron had entered the arena.

The titan of iron glared across the plateau, his armor glinting in the arena lights.

Ray stepped forward, his eyes calm, yet focused. "Dragonair, it's your time."

From the white light of his Pokéball, Dragonair emerged—elegant, silent, a ribbon of power and grace. His violet-tinged body shimmered like silk against the harsh, jagged backdrop.

[Pokémon: Dragonair ♂]Level: 39Aptitude: Core Purple

The two Pokémon faced off.

The bell rang.

Battle start.

Aggron charged immediately. No warning. His massive body tore up chunks of rock with each step.

"Above!" Ray shouted.

Dragonair ascended in a graceful arc, narrowly avoiding Aggron's initial slam, the ground exploding where he had stood a second before.

"Don't stop!" Ray's voice rang. "Keep your distance!"

Dragonair spiraled upward, weaving between rocky outcrops. Aggron roared again and unleashed a brutal shock through the earth—splitting the terrain and knocking Dragonair midair with a blast of stone debris.

Ray's heart jumped. Dragonair crashed hard, his long body scraping against a cliff ledge before regaining flight.

"Don't falter," Ray whispered.

Aggron was relentless. His control of the rocky battlefield was ruthless. Every movement forced Dragonair to retreat or dodge. The serpent danced through the onslaught, but fatigue was mounting.

The crowd was silent, watching the beautiful Pokémon struggle against sheer overwhelming force.

Then—Dragonair locked eyes with Ray.

And Ray understood.

Dragonair wasn't afraid.

He was pushing himself… like Ray had done before.

He wasn't giving up.

"Push forward," Ray commanded. "Strike now!"

Dragonair surged down, tail glowing faintly with a bluish hue. He twisted midair and crashed into Aggron's flank. The giant roared, stumbling—finally staggered.

Ray didn't wait.

"Again!"

The next impact cracked one of the boulders Aggron tried to brace against.

Ray's eyes widened as his system flickered:

[System Alert]Aptitude Resonance: Dragonair has tapped into his Core Potential. Synchronizing Combat Flow…

Dragonair's movements became sharper—his aim more refined, as if he were reading the battlefield with perfect clarity.

But Lance wasn't idle. Aggron crouched low—and unleashed a brutal counterattack.

A wall of force slammed into Dragonair, knocking him into a rock spire. Dust exploded into the air.

Ray clenched his fists. "Get up!"

And Dragonair did.

Bleeding from light cuts. Breathing harder.

But standing.

The silver serpent slithered back into the air, eyes glowing with renewed fire.

One final exchange—Dragonair darted forward in a blur of purple and blue, coiling through the falling rocks and slamming straight into Aggron's jaw.

A moment passed.

Aggron froze.

And then the titan collapsed.

Silence.

Then the crowd erupted into cheers.

Winner of Round One: Ray Virel

Ray exhaled, hand trembling slightly from adrenaline. Across the field, Lance nodded once and returned his Pokémon.

"Well done," he said simply.

Ray called Dragonair back, whispering a word of thanks.

[System Update]Dragonair remains Level 39 | Aptitude: Core Purple | Minor fatigue

One win secured. Two battles remained.
