Reincarnated in a Light Novel

Eclair decided to stay at the outskirts of the village, he wished that the mission was as simple as it could get. 

He didn't want any demons with intelligence in the village, but with how the situation is going. He didn't want to jinx it. 

Eclair decided to stay put in the night and set up a tent, of course, the tent was an open one. He didn't want to get stuck inside a closed tent. 

That'll be a horrible way to die. Eclair didn't sleep as the sun set in, he decided to close and rest his eyes but as a few minutes passed by he felt a malicious presence. 

That's when Eclair opened his eyes and leaned back enough to see a small worm launch itself past him. 

"Shit!"

Eclair used his Art to decimate the demon, he didn't even dare touch the thing. After that, he stood up and ran around the village. 

Now the miasma was familiar, he could feel it all over the place! Was the demon suppressing its presence? 

No wonder he couldn't feel anything earlier, no he felt something was wrong but couldn't put a finger over it. 

Eclair didn't waste any time and started using [Sever] on any worm he could see on the ground. 

He couldn't help but click his tongue as he continued to kill all the worms but they were all over the place. It's clear the demon had some intelligence because this is too orchestrated!

Eclair jumped over the roofs and stretched his senses, when he found the place where miasma was the strongest he couldn't help but click his tongue. 

He jumped from roof to roof till he was at the Elderly lady's house. "Ha… should've checked that damn pot."

Eclair felt that his suspicion would be rude but that was a mistake, he should listened to himself, and he would lost nothing doing so aside from being looked at as paranoid or rude.

Once he reached the Elderly lady's house, he swiped his hand and [Sever] slashed through the house and exposed the living room inside. It was grotesque, to say the least. 

"Tsk, you know too much." The elderly lady spoke. 

A giant worm the size of a large snake, wriggling all together with more little worms. It was wrapped around the elderly lady and Eclair could see that she didn't have any light in her eyes. 

"Come down here Young Sorcerer, I'll make it painless for you!"

Eclair didn't listen any further and struck, multiple thin arcs of Omi flew towards the elderly lady as Eclair slashed his hands. His attacks were met by multiple worms covering the Elderly lady, defending her from the attacks sent by Eclair. 

"It's futile!"

'Can you shut up!'

Eclair knew that these dialogues were what a villain would say to a shounen or isekai protagonist but he couldn't help but find them annoying. 

Multiple worms gathered up and compressed, Eclair was prepared for whatever would happen when the worms shot out towards him shaped into a ball of collected worms, which he promptly avoided by jumping to another roof.

"You won't get out of this Village Sorcerer, it's best to give up!"

Eclair added another condition to his Cast. After he did, he slashed in the air, and what came out was a stronger version of [Sever] flying towards the cluster of worms protecting the elderly lady. 

It soon sliced into two but the worms pulled each other together again, though Eclair could see blood seeping through the crevices of the wriggling worms. 

"Phew…" Eclair sighed. 

Eclair couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief, the conditions he had for Sever were that for the next five attacks, his attacks would be empowered and it could only be used against the demon. 

Eclair could already guess, that the Demon was middle class, he couldn't fight it with the regular conditions he set. 

However, he wondered as he stepped to another roof, why was the Demon protecting the old woman. Maybe it needs a host? It only spoke through the old woman's mouth. 

Whilst dodging the projectiles sent by the demon, Eclair tried to find a good way to kill it. An effective one at that, his attacks are limited and he couldn't possibly drag this out. 

"Ah right, worms."

Then he remembered, that whilst demons had enhanced durability and power, they would still have the same weakness as the body that they possessed. 

Eclair continuously slashed his arms towards the demon, making it shed all the dead worms away and surround itself with new ones. Once Eclair completely depleted all empowered severs he shed the first cast, which was the magic bolt.

Eclair summoned his Omi and started a technique, it is one of the most common techniques used out there for scroll books and talismans, a fireball. With the simple conditions for it to burn the essence supplied to it.

After the technique was chosen and the conditions were set Eclair was prepared to start blasting. 

He aimed at the sphere of worms and fired his fireball, once it landed it scorched and killed lots of worms. 

He noticed that the demon wasn't making any comments so he moved forward with a decisive offense, gathering enough Omi in one large attack.

He compressed the fireball to the size of a marble and fired it at the demon, the fireball flew through the air and made contact with the demon, then expanded instantaneously. 

The flames engulfed the entire house, scorching every corner of it. 

"Sheesh…" Eclair commented. 

He felt the Molds' first cast disappear, it seems he added some conditions subconsciously. Well, it didn't matter, he created the Mold to be as flexible as possible in this kind of situation. 

The worms around the houses started to writhe, as if in pain then paused. It started moving normally as if nothing happened but unlike before the worm's movement felt more random than with a single purpose.

Now that Eclair thought about it, what happened to the villagers? He went down to the ground, he felt somehow weak, and his Omi was running low. 

Though not so much that he would be helpless. Making sure to avoid the worms as he descended, he reached for houses to find the villagers had covered their houses in salt. 

They were staying put which was a good decision on their part. Eclair didn't touch the worms just in case of something but after confirming that they were normal worms now he went ahead and informed the villagers. 

The demon is no more.
