Reincarnated as Ravel Phenex (DxD)

RAVEL'S POV—

Returning home, I sat on the couch and started watching TV. As predicted, Sona came sit beside me. She said, "Yesterday, you were watching Tom and Jerry, but today you are watching news. You have a very weird taste."

I shrugged, "I know that. Do you want to watch it too?"

Shaking her head in denial, she got up. She said, "No. Thank you for the offer. I am going to sleep. I have to wake up early in the morning for the school." Saying that, she went away.

Did she forget that I have to also wake up early in the morning for the school?

Sighing, I closed the TV and went to my room. Sitting on the bed, I asked, 'Ryan. What did it mean by the whole replacing thing? Am I the protagonist of DxD now?'

Ryan sighed, "Yeah about. I never thought that you would replace the OG protagonist this early. I thought after going to another world, you would replace that world's protagonist. But I was wrong, you are unpredictable."

'Ryan, I don't know whether you are complimenting or insulting me, but answer that damn question.'

"Okay-okay. Listen, you can replace any world's protagonist by four methods. First method- Take his harem. Taking his harem would result in plummeting of his aura and power. Second method- Kill him. It's an easy method as it's the most direct method. Third method- Make him accept his defeat. The final method- Omit him from the existence." I shivered a bit hearing the last words. Omit?

'What 'omit' means?'

"The method of omission is the most difficult one. Ravel, if you use this method, you are ceasing the protagonist's whole exist. It's like he never existed in the first place."

'This means, I need to kill his parents or—'

"Yes, kill his parents, or even killing a single parent would work too. You can also stop the protagonist's parents from getting together."

'But I didn't use any of your mentioned methods.'

"Yes, it's loop hole, I guess. Changing protagonist's sexual orientation is a masterstroke. No one, I mean, no one would use this method."

'I did.'

"Yes, that's why you are unique. And I complimenting you."

After talking with Ryan, one thing is certain. Ryan wants me to replace these protagonists. I asked, 'Am I right? Ryan.'

Ryan didn't say anything. I continued, 'Every system needs something from his/her host. What do you need from me? You are very systematic. You banter with me all the time, but when the time arises, you help me. You approached me with some motive. You knew that I was an otaku. You knew how I died. You knew that I know about systems. You knew that I would accept your offer. You are using me to replace these protagonists. For what?'

Like before, Ryan didn't say anything. After some time, he finally opened his mouth. He said, "It seems that I underestimated you. You are a fool, there is not a single doubt in that. But you are an intelligent fool, a kind that everyone should be wary of. You asked me about my motive. What's yours? Back then, you accepted my deal in a heartbeat but now, you are asking me about my motive. Why didn't you ask back then?"

'Yes, I had a motive. My motive was to get a new life. A restart, was all I needed. When you appeared, you gave me a way to achieve this. I finally got my wish. Here, I said it. Now, tell yours.'

Ryan sighed heavily. He said, "I can't tell you. At least, not now."

'Fine.'

"I knew you wouldn't accept—"

He suddenly stopped talking. I asked, 'What happened?'

"Wait. Did you agree?"

'Yeah.'

"You wouldn't press on this matter."

Annoyed, I yelled, 'Yes!! How many times should I tell you?'

"Thank you! Thank you so very much!"

Sneering, I said, 'No need to thank me. The moment this secret of yours concern me, I will take action.'

"Deal!"

If his matters do not affect me, then it's okay. But if it does, I will take action, a very powerful action. Back then, I knew it very well that Ryan is going to use me for something. It may be survival. It may be to gain power. I don't know. But this is what I need him for as well. Both me and Ryan are going to use each other for our own profit. I have already gotten the taste of power, and I am not leaving it. I will decide whether I would passive, or aggressive. Time would tell whether Ryan wants a symbiotic relationship, or a parasitic one.

'Ryan, until then, let's keep our relationship as usual.'

Taking some time, Ryan said, "I can't believe you. How can you just... er, forget it. Yeah, let's continue our relationship like before. But remember one thing, till now, I haven't been able to read you, and I don't think I can ever. You are sometimes passive, and sometimes aggressive."

'Thank you, for your compliment. You want to read me? Then, just sit and watch. Maybe someday, you would.'

"Hahaha... I think I will."
