Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!

Chapter 1315: A New Test

-----

"Good morning students! My name is Miranda, and I'll be your teacher for today's Field Activities!"

A very cheerful green-haired young woman, no older than her early twenties, greeted the students of the entire academy, which had gathered around in the gigantic patio.

She had a slender figure, but was quite tall at almost two meters, her face looked cheerful and cute, with freckles, alongside long green hair made into two huge braids.

She wore green overalls and a white shirt, while carrying around a huge shovel made of gold, imbued with green jewels.

This was most likely her Dream Weapon!

Maria and the rest of the students glanced at the new teacher attentively, she wasn't alone, there were a few dozen other new teachers by her side.

"These are all my assistant teachers, so they'll guide you through the various Nightmare Fields and make sure you're safe to an extent. Of course, bear in mind that in such a dangerous place, they cannot simply save you from everything, and will be mostly observing from very far away."

"Huh, that's quite something…" Maria thought, checking her status information to get any clue about who this woman was.

"Huh she's quite the woman… okay then," Maria nodded. "So her weapon is indeed that shovel, and her elements are Earth and Nature, it wouldn't be an understatement to think she's kind of a farmer… But there's such a strong aura coming from her too, it's a bit bizarre."

Maria couldn't help but wonder how Miranda even fought at all! However, she unfortunately couldn't really challenge her to a small spar or something.

"Alright, first of all, everyone makes teams! Teams between classes are also allowed! So go crazy and pick your friends! However, I recommend having a good composition! Some front-line attackers, tankers, healers, and long-ranged fighters to make a good, balanced party."

As she said, the students instantly began talking with one another and moving around, interacting with each other.

Maria quickly noticed a lot of the friends they made yesterday in the battles show up around her group, instantly inviting some of their friends to join them, or asking if they could join them.

"Pretty boy! Arthuuur!"

Katherine quickly ran towards Maria's brother; she was the first Maria instantly recognized coming directly to Arthur and not even giving an glance to anybody else.

"K-Katherine?!" Arthur asked. "W-What?"

"What do you mean with "what?", we're making a part, of course!" Katherine said pridefully. "If anything, you should be the one asking me to join you but I guess I'll let you save the embarrassment and join you right away! Don't worry, you don't even need to ask me. And you're welcome!"

"A-Ahh… Uuh…" Arthur glanced at me with the expression of a little puppy.

"Sorry… Just bear with her," Maria laughed. "She's not half bad, Arthur. She's a strong attacker too and her powers have great diversity and usability."

"Your sister is very right!" Katherine said. "Arthur, you better not reject me, or I will… I will blow you away!" her glass spheres already appearing.

"Is this a threat?! I wasn't going to reject you anyways, so calm down…" Arthur sighed. "But we need a couple more allies though, you don't have any friends, Katherine?"

"E-Ehhh… Uuuh, um," Katherine was trying to somehow think of an excuse. "Of course I do! But they aren't around… I mean, they didn't come to this academy. But yes I have dozens of friends back home."

"So you don't have friends," Arthur nodded.

"I do! I have friends! Why won't you listen to my words?!" cried Katherine, growing embarrassed and as red as a tomato.

Then I saw Katokawa walking towards my daughter, who ran towards me rather excitedly.

"Mama- I mean, big sis! Let's join! I am the last member, right?" she asked, wagging her cute tail around.

"Oh, is she joining us?" Martina wondered. "I saw a bit of her battle; she was really strong! Nyx, right?"

"Yeah! Let's be friends!" Nyx nodded, giving Martina a handshake.

"Heheh, aren't you a cutie?" giggled Martina, petting her head. "Let's hunt and kill lots of Nightmares!"

"Yeeesss!" Nyx nodded, giggling as she showed her very sharp teeth.

"Um…"

The Japanese girl was there, looking at Maria and her friends with a flustered look.

"Nyx, I thought we could join in a party… I mean, you said we were friends…" she said, trying to swallow her pride.

It seemed she was also a loner without friends!

"Ooh! Sorry Katokawa! I'm joining in a party with big sis friends," said Nyx.

"We're full by the way," said Sofia.

"Yeap, sorry," said Emily.

"I'm really sorry!" Alma said.

"A-Ah…"

Katokawa lowered her head, feeling completely defeated and lonely.

"W-Well! There's no way nobody would want my amazing barriers anyways, I'll be on my way-"

"Wait!"

Nyx grabbed her hand.

"Y-Yes?"

"Join my uncle's party instead."

Nyx pointed at Arthur.

"He's your uncle?"

"I mean he's my, uh, friend!" Nyx said. "Anyways, he's nice! Go!"

"Okay…? Um, nice to meet you two," Katokawa said awkwardly.

Arthur and Katherine looked at one another and then at the Japanese girl.

"I mean, she's welcome if she wants to join, right?" asked Katherine. "Your barriers are good!"

"I guess so, yeah," Arthur nodded. "Sure."

"Phew… thank you," Katokawa seemed overly relieved, sighing. "Truly."

Maria enjoyed the weird and awkward interactions, which continued happening as all the students got ready to depart

"Emeraldine! This time for sure, let's make a party!" Ching Xie appeared by the side of Emeraldine, offering his help.

"Oh! Ching Xie…" Emeraldine gasped. "Uh, well, I already have a full party…"

"EH?!"

"Sorry…" Emeraldine apologized.

"I-It's fine…" Ching Xie looked completely beaten.

"Hahaha!"

Maria laughed at Ching Xie out loud, making the young Chinese man more uncomfortable.
